Wedding Music
Hello Everyone:
Brass Unlimited has provided music for wedding ceremonies and receptions through out the Puget Sound region for the past decade.
The following are suggestions which Brass Unlimited hopes will be of assistance to you as you plan your music for your special day.
Selecting wedding music is generally conducted with the assistance of a professional musician who can help you set the tone for a romantic and memorable event buy guiding and coordinating your choice of music for the entire ceremony. Nowhere is this more important than at the beginning of the ceremony where the music shifts the focus of the ceremony from the seating of the guests...to the entrance of the parents...the bridal party..and finally the bride.
Presenting your musical selections to your officiate (if applicable) far enough in advance helps prevent last minute jitters.
We recommend you leave nothing to chance. Consider requesting a demo CD which allows you to not only hear the music but help make your musical selections easier. Brass Unlimited demo CD has more than 40 selections.
Brides have been awed and guests delighted by the sound of brass for centuries. Indoors or out the beauty of brass revealed in its resonance, makes it a multi-dimensional sound unlike any other.
A "Guide to Ceremonial Music" is available free at www.brassunlimited.org.

Wedding Ceremony Rehearsal
MAXIMIZING THE OPPORTUNITY
(A Videographer Attends the Ceremony Rehearsal)
by Clifford Tom
Video Consultant for Studio West, Inc. Hawaii
During the past two to eighteen months, youメve been planning your wedding from attending wedding trade shows, browsing through bridal magazines, surfing the internet, visiting bridal shops, perusing through vendorsメ brochures, etc. One of the last steps in the planning process is your ceremony rehearsal, which are normally held one to three days prior to your wedding date.
The rehearsal is a dry run through of the wedding ceremony, which is conducted by the church/wedding coordinator or officiate. It gives a chance for the bride, groom, bridesmaids, ushers, flower girl, ring bearer, parents, and others to practice their roles, especially their walking order and where to sit or stand during the ceremony. Final details and last minute questions can be settled at the rehearsal. On the average, the rehearsal will last about one hour.
Your wedding videographer can attend the ceremony rehearsal to generate ideas to best service the bridal couple through their video production without making the ceremony the site of a television studio. Some videographers will direct bridal couples on the wedding day to stand at forty-five degrees from the video cameras while exchanging their vows and rings. Others have production practices that can be a distraction to the bridal party and guests. Since opportunities for memories can come and go on the wedding day, video production details and strategies for maximum coverage should be thought about at the rehearsal and not one-hour before the actual ceremony starts.
An assertive videographer who is attentive to detail will probably do the following:
ᄋ Attend the rehearsal despite prior experience of videotaping at the site.
ᄋ Introduce himself/herself to the coordinator or officiate and ask about the restrictions regarding videography during the ceremony.
ᄋ Review video camera placement and its mobility, audio recording, lighting, setup time, etc. with the bridal couple, coordinator, and officiate.
ᄋ Ask the bride and groom about the type of floral arrangements that are planned as well as their probable placement. Point out possible concerns if those arrangements are blocking the video cameras view. Ask for permission to readjust the placement of the floral arrangements on the wedding day (such as those on floral pedestals), without interfering with the look of the wedding.
ᄋ Stand in the video cameraメs assumed position to visualize the possible shots.
ᄋ If needed, suggest adjustments to where the bridal couple, officiate, and the bridal party are standing to maximize video coverage from one or two cameras.
A passive and conservative videographer might observe the rehearsal from the back of the church. They probably will not offer any suggestions that might help the ceremony and its video coverage.
A videographer who doesnメt attend the ceremony rehearsal may give the following statements:
ᄋ モIメve videotaped there many times and I know what will go on.ヤ (Some videographers produce モcookie cutterヤ wedding videos with the belief that what was done last week or last year will be the same as yours. In reality each bridal party brings its own special style that affects the feel and flow of the ceremony.)
ᄋ モIt takes too much of my time. I could use my time to edit or hold more consultations with new clients.ヤ (It is time consuming but each bridal couple deserves this attention to detail.)
ᄋ モSince the officiate will not be present at the rehearsal, the coordinator doesnメt really know where the officiate and the bridal couple will be standing.ヤ (The coordinator is the person put in charge by the church who is most familiar with each officiateメs procedure in performing a wedding ceremony.)
ᄋ モNo one knows the size of the floral arrangements and the florist will decide where they will be placed.ヤ (As decided in advance at the rehearsal, permission will be granted to readjust the floral arrangements as necessary.)
ᄋ モYou canメt predict whatメs going to happen minute by minute by attending the rehearsal.ヤ (The rehearsal is an overview of the ceremony. The videographer can maximize his/her decisions in the types of shots to shoot knowing ahead of time what the major actions are that will take place.)
ᄋ モIメll direct the officiate, bridal party, and musicians where to stand within one hour of the ceremony time.ヤ (Hoping that all other parties are even gathered together and ready to take directions from someone they have never seen before is not good. One hour before the wedding is no time to be planning. You are relaxing and just waiting to roll.)
Youメve spent a lot of time and money planning your wedding. One of the major expenses that youメll encounter is hiring a videographer to produce a video memory that best suits your budget, tastes and priorities.
Attending the ceremony rehearsal by a videographer provides to the bridal couple a feeling of "peace of mind" through sound planning, and anticipation of problem areas and their solutions.

About Body Wraps
All Body Wraps are not the same. Some are moisturizing, some are detoxifying, some just feel good. If you are considering a body wrap as part of your wedding preparation, first decide what type of results you are looking for.
There are many ingredients that a body wrap may consist of: mud, seaweed, herbs, oils, etc. as well as combinations of ingredients. For thousands of years women have bathed in all of these materials for beauty purposes.
The body wraps offered by The Body Wrap Shop are mineral body wraps. Elastic bandages are soaked in a food-grade mineral soluton made up of approximately 65 trace minerals. The warm bandages are used to wrap the body firmly. The minerals in the bandages are absorbed through the skin, encouraging the body to release impurities stored in the fatty layer beneath the skin.
The result is that the skin firms and tightens and excess water is balanced. This process leaves the client with measurable inch loss, smoother cellulite areas and visibly smaller stretchmarks. The skin is soft and moisturized.
This process is an active one; once wrapped in bandages, the client does light excercise for one hour. The excercise encourages higher absorption of the minerals and release of impurities, helping to maximize results.
This body wrap is not a hot, dehydrating procedure. There is no persperation, which means that the inch loss is long-lasting, usually up to 2-3 months. As a consequence, the wrap can safely be repeated to accumulate inch loss and shape and contour the body.
This mineral body wrap has been safely in use for 35 years, and is the most reputable body wrap in America.

Lots of Video Choices!
There are a lot of choices when it comes to videography in the Puget Sound area. The price of digital consumer camcorders has dropped and many computer manufacturers are including low end video editing software with their computers now. Consequently, many people have decided to invest in this lower end equipment and become "wedding videographers" but they have little to no experience and offer deals that seem too good to be true.
My Mom always said, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Well, unfortunately that includes these "good deal" wedding videos.
I believe the poor quality videos these "professionals" create are what perpuate the misconception that wedding videos are not worth the money. This is why it is critically important to make sure you view lots of demos and see what is really available in our area.
Here are a few tips:
1. Make sure you meet with your prospective videographers as it is important that you feel comfortable with the people who will be around you during the most important day of your lives.
2. Ask to see a full wedding when you schedule appointments and look for things such as steadiness, overall composition, and that the music adds emotion to the video rather than seeming to be an afterthought.
3. Be prepared to see a wide range of prices. If having a really good wedding video is a priority to you, you will need to budget accordingly. In general, plan on spending approximately the same amount on a wedding video as you will on your photography.
4. Ask your other wedding vendors for several referrals, then meet with those videographers and view their work. While a referral is an excellent start, ultimately you are the one who has to make the decision and live with it!
5. Ask how long the company has been in business and how many weddings they do per year.
6. Hire someone who specializes in weddings. This is true for both videography and photography. While it might sound great to hire a CNN cameraman or a fashion photographer, weddings are very different events and require professionals who are able to anticipate and deal with the events of the day. Many people who are broadcast producers won't even do weddings because they realize how much work it is! There ARE NO RETAKES!
I hope these tips will help you find the perfect videographer for your wedding and we will post more later!
Take care,
Chris & Laura Randall

The Beauty of a Blushing Bride
Congratulations, Ladies!
Planning your wedding can be one of the most exciting times of your life. Many brides spend hours, even months, seeking out the perfect gown and accessories and bridesmaidsメ dresses. Most of you wouldnメt even remotely consider waiting until the last minute to pick out those things, and yet thatメs exactly what many do when it comes to planning the make-up to go with it!
Choosing your wedding makeup is as important as choosing your gown. Your look will be captured in photos forever so it's important to put on your best face with no mistakes. After all, you are the star, the very center of attention on your wedding day. Why leave your look to chance?
Our #1 major piece of advice: Don't try a new look on your wedding day.
Steer clear of trends and opt for a natural look that enhances your best features. A good rule of thumb is to look at yourself and ask if you'd still think you looked pretty when you look back 15 or 20 years from now. It is important to look like yourself on your wedding day...you at your absolute most beautiful. Don't try to change your whole look just for that day. True beauty comes from the passion in your eyes, and the personality and character in your face. Your makeup should make those thingsナyour inner beautyナstand out. People should say モwow, she looks amazing!ヤ not モwow, look at her makeup!ヤ
Plan ahead, practice your look and get good at it. Either one of us would be happy to sit down with you to help you recognize your unique features and most beautiful traits, and to teach you how to bring out your best and reflect yourself - your personality and everything inside you - with simple make-up techniques.
Keep checking in for more tips on bringing out your best for your wedding day.
I hope your wedding is as beautiful as every bride dreams!

The Officiant Can Make All The Difference
It has been my experience over the years, in listening to so many couples, that the "tone" of the wedding set by the attitude, personality and words of the Officiant create feelings about the wedding ceremony that fill the guests and carry over into the reception. It is important that you choose an Officiant that will give you the wedding that YOU want. You should not have to settle for what you really don't want to hear - the day is far too important to "settle" for something the Officiant says. He should be an assistant and a resource for you. He/She should not require more than the State requires: that you publicly express that you are choosing each other as husband and wife - the rest is up to you!
That is why I do all of the above. I may not be the perfect match for every couple, but I am flexible, and I am a good listener - I strive to adapt to the kind of wedding the couple wants - supplying ideas, suggested order of ceremony, optional words, and creative solutions for particular needs. Each couple, each wedding is unique...the wedding ought to express a couple's love and relationship, and their own idea of their marriage. Their marriage is their relationship - the wedding is the witnessing, celebrating and making official the marriage they have made. I find it fulfilling to do all of the above...as a Marriage Counselor for many years, I am dedicated to helping couples start their official marriage celebration in the best way possible - the way they want it!
