Can you imagine your Portraits in Brilliant B/W in the George Hurrell style

If you are a photo buff, really.

If you recognize these names Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Henry Bresson, Lizette Model, Bert Stern, Kertez, W. Eugene Smith............etc. Then you are more than a casual client. You probably have a greater appreciation of the fine arts aspect of a photographic image.

I am a photographer with a fine arts background, but I've been trapped in the body of the "cookie cutter" style. Now that is not too bad because it is the "state of the art" for traditional wedding photography.

To put it another way. There are cameras and techniques I use in my weekly photography that I could not use for for one of those companies. One company wanted the photographers to shoot only in digital medium, another had a list of "bonus shots" that were cute but gimmicky too. On my website you will see images shot with my 8x10 camera and developed by myself. Something I do in my commercial work all the time. Wouldn't it be great for instance if I could take a few of your wedding pictures with it? - How about photojournalism shot with an old style press camera (just like in Rocky).

Now you begin to see if you are a real photo buff and have the distinguished taste for this type of photography; I can easily use these tools and shoot a wedding with them.

I love my job and really have a great time shooting weddings. I am easy to get along with and have the tools and skills to deliver amazing images for your special tastes.

A Message From the President/CEO of Entertainment Northwest

Hello brides! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

We understand sometimes how daunting a task it can be to wind your way through all the wedding vendors to find a company to work with that meets your expectations for quality without breaking the bank. Entertainment Northwest Disc Jockeys was developed specifically to meet these basic needs of the greater Seattle area bride.

A few things to keep in mind . . .

First, there are only about 20 quality wedding DJ's in the greater Seattle area available on any given date. On prime wedding dates, there are over 500 weddings and corporate events IN ONE DAY. This is where the horror stories about wedding entertainment come from-- it is a numbers game. The top 20 DJ's all have successful events each week and 480 other events could have benefited by having better quality entertainment! Out of these top 20 wedding DJ's, 5 of them call Entertainment Northwest their home and YOUR DJ will be one of them.

We would rather turn you away than send a second rate DJ to your event--our immaculate reputation depends on our infatuation for delivering quality at each and every event. We actually intentionally downsized our company to be able to ensure your DJ will be high quality and experienced at weddings. What that means, though, is it is important for you to book quickly if we have someone available because they won't be available for long, especially with our high referral rates.

Speaking of which, besides our hundreds of bride referrals each year, we are also highly referred by many of the top banquet facilities and vendors. They see hundreds of DJ's each year from dozens of companies, yet they often refer their clients to Entertainment Northwest. We had referrals last year from venues like Kiana Lodge, Point Defiance, Port Gamble Weddings, Schwartz Brothers Catering, Sun Mountain Lodge, Alderbrook Inn, Tony's Catering, Arctic Dome Room, University Tower Hotel, Columbia Winery, Woodland Park Rainforest Pavilion, Lake Union Cafe, Skansonia Ferry, Washington Athletic Club and many, many more. Top photographers such as AWI Photography, Teddi Yaeger Photography and Natural Light Photography prefer to work with us over most other DJ companies and they have worked with us all.

We are affordable. There are many DJ companies charging $1000, $1200 and even $1500 for a basic 4 hour DJ package. They may get some work, but not nearly as much as we do. This means our DJ's consistently do more events than the DJ's in other companies and are therefore more experienced. We have done extensive market research and interviewed hundreds of brides and found they are most comfortable spending in the $600 to $800 range for a wedding DJ. The Puget Sound average is $800 for a 4 hour wedding reception DJ and we are priced about 15% below that-- starting at only $695--and you still get one of the top wedding DJ's in the region!

How can we do this? We can offer you great prices because as a company we COMPLETELY have our act together, top to bottom, and our volume of work from all the referrals makes up for our lower margin per event and guarantees our stock holders are happy with the return on their investment.

We let you choose as much of the music as you wish! Our objective is for you to walk away that night with NO REGRETS. That comes from us being friendly and open, understanding the role you want us to play on your wedding day, doing our job well and playing the music that YOU want to hear.

What more do you need?? Experience, professionalism, YOU choose the music and at a price point that is AFFORDABLE and easy to book-- only $95 down!

Please visit our web site at entertainmentnorthwest.biz for details or to request our complete All Inclusive Wedding DJ Package. Or call us anytime at 1.888.738.4281. All of our prices and package details are posted clearly right on our web site and there are no hidden costs or hidden agendas.

We also have a great String Ensemble & Wedding DJ Package that is the perfect choice for dozens of brides each year . . . and it is only $995 for a GREAT string ensemble for your ceremony and quality DJ for your reception. Check it out.

Best wishes on your special day and we will see you there!

Sincerely,

Ed Waterman

Is It Important That Your DJ Has Worked Previously At Your Banquet Room?

Not necessarily. While we feel it is important for our DJ's to work in many different rooms in many different counties, that is so they are experienced to be able to succeed in many different situations.

As a company, we have worked virtually every major hotel, banquet facility and country club in the Northwest. We have seen many of them turn over their banquet captains and even ownership many times.

All we really need is a six foot, skirted table (to hide the cables) and power within 25 feet or so. Preferably we are right next to the dance floor with no guests seated within 20 feet or so of our speakers. If you seat guests right on our speakers, they don't enjoy the evening much. While our volume is constantly monitored, it is at a level to project to the entire room and may be a little loud for those directly in front of the speakers.

Other than that, the success of your event is much more dependent on the day of your event, time of day, whether alcohol is served and hosted and who you invite.

Someone once said that every successful party needs two things-- great music and good lighting that is properly adjusted to set the mood. We'll take care of the first if you take care of the lights!

What to Look for in Wedding Photograpers

If you have not immersed yourself in wedding photography (yet) this brief explanation should clarify your thoughts as you choose your wedding photographer.

Remember: After your wedding, you will have several tangible treasures forever: your rings and your photographs. When choosing your wedding photographer, you are investing not just dollars and cents, but also your own time (and your family's) on the wedding day. That is why you should not settle on the most economical photographer, but seek out a skilled image-maker whose style matches your vision of your wedding day, one who has an eye for superb images.

If you understand how today's professionals approach weddings, you will have an easier time comparing photographers. To help you see your way clearly as you visit a photographer, keep in mind three approaches to wedding photography: traditional, wedding photojournalism, and creative.
1. Traditional photography includes portraits of bridal party and family - close-up and full length - and candid photographs that tell the story of the day. This is the style that suits most couples and their families.
2. Wedding photojournalism means no posed photographs - all pictures would be taken without any instruction from or awareness of the photographer. This style became popular in the 1990s.
3. The Creative or impressionistic photographer creates images with the unusual angle or juxtaposition. The photographer is creating his or her artistic impression of your wedding day. The goal is to produce a limited number of art prints from your wedding.

Most photographers actually present a mix of all three of these, with an emphasis on the first (traditional). This makes sense: even if you love the impressionistic approach, your mom will surely want a touching photo of the bride and groom and a smiling picture of mom and dad with their son or daughter.

When you visit a photographer, you want to look at sample albums and see how well the photographer has created images in each of these three categories. The formals (posed) photographs should have the subject lit with directional and flattering light. You should see a natural sparkle (catch-light) in the eyes and the background should not compete with the subject for attention. Look for a variety of relaxed and natural expressions. If there are photojournalistic shots, see if they have impact and clarity, or are they merely snapshots. Ask yourself, "Why was this picture taken?"

Reading these few paragraphs about photography will not totally clarify your ideas about wedding photography. So, here are some technical details that you might keep in mind while looking at photographs. As we mentioned above, the formals photographs should be lit with good light (soft or dramatic, to suit the pose and expression!). Good lighting gives depth and roundness to the subject. The posing should be flattering, not stereotypical. Generally you want the subject to fill the frame (unless the picture is in the illustrative style) but not feel crowded by the borders of the photograph.

Since the photographer is showing you what he/she thinks are his/her best work, the focus and exposure (light/dark balance) should be perfect on just about every photograph, and there should be no need for the photographer to apologize for shortcomings in the photographs or presentation. The candid photographs should read easily: the story of the photograph should be apparent, with few distractions.

Do make sure that the person you interview, whether at a store-front studio or working out of a home - is indeed the photographer, not a sales rep. You want to see the images and meet the artisan behind the images before you decide on your photographer.

As you can see, you cannot interview your photographer in depth over the phone. In fact, until you have visited several photographers you don't even know the cost of photography that suits your taste. That's why we recommend that you not draw up a photography budget until you have met with a few and looked at samples to determine your own preferences in photography. Expect to invest 8% to 13% of your entire wedding budget in photography.
Hope this helps, Ric Lehman

How Much Is TOO Much To Pay For A DJ???

We are told constantly by the hundreds of brides that book with us each year that we have "great prices". How is it figured that $695 is a "great price"? What is included in that?

I think what they mean is they are getting alot of VALUE for the price we offer. Many Seattle area DJ's are trying to match upscale L.A./Orange County prices and import them to the Seattle region.

Do you know that many Seattle area DJ companies are now charging $1000, $1200 EVEN $1500 for a WEDDING DJ for only 4 hours??? Yep, it seems insane to us too and is a big reason why brides are flooding our offices with calls and emails. That's great if they want to alienate 98% of the brides and only work a few weddings each year. WE prefer to work constantly and have done over 1000 events each year for some time now.

The average price of a Seattle area DJ is now $800 for 4 hours and climbing. We offer a price point 15% below that, EVERYTHING INCLUDED!

Why do brides love us?? Only $695. Experienced, senior DJ's (among the very best in the Northwest) work with you. We meet with you in person (ask Sounds Unlimited about that). Travel is FREE in six counties (ask Sounds Unlimited about that). Lights are included. Formal attire is included. Sales tax is included. Our DJ's are well compensated (ask Sounds Unlimited if the will pay YOUR ACTUAL DJ more than $100 for their effort). We set up early, ON OUR TIME-- you get four hours of music. And it only costs you $95 to book, which goes towards your package price.

Ask Sounds Unlimited about all of these and compare. We know the answer and we want you to find out what we already know.

When all is said and done, and you do your research, if you can find more experienced DJ's than Entertainment Northwest that offer EVERYTHING included and at a price point that is 15% less than the region's average, you should hire them! And then email me and tell me who it is-- I would like to hire them to come to work for us!

Oh, and what do you do with the $500 to $800 you will save by booking Entertainment Northwest over one of these $1200 to $1500 DJ's??

How about you and your fiance splurge on YOURSELF with a classic limousine, the finest suite at the Edgewater Hotel for your wedding night and a champagne breakfast and massage the next morning!

Either you can spend that money on yourself, or one of these high end DJ's will spend YOUR money doing the same for THEIR WIFE . . . H m m m m m . . .

Think of the Photographer as a friend.

In most cases, being low key and unobtrusive does not get you that special shot. Remember if you are having photos and video of your special event, embrace it. We are there to get everything, be as creative as possible, the less inhibited the better. Think of us as a guest and a good friend, that is how we view our clients. Tell your friends and family to relax around the cameras and be natural. The lights, the show, it is all for you and in the end the less aprehensive towards the cameras the more you will enjoy your final product. The photos don't lie, they see everything, especially with digital, we usually have 700+ photos by the end of an event. The best photos I have ever taken, and the best photos I have ever seen by others are when you can see that there is no fear of the media, they have become part of the event and the whole thing becomes fun and relaxing.

The Secret to Selecting the RIGHT Wedding Photographer

The Secret to Selecting the RIGHT Wedding Photographer

Your wedding photographer is the second most important selection you will make for your wedding day! Select the right one and he/she will add to the enjoyment of your day. Select the wrong photographer and they may become the major worry or trauma of your wedding day.

Frankly, all of us (wedding photographers) can show you beautiful prints on the wall and beautiful wedding albums. It may have taken some photographers 5 years to collect a dozen beautiful prints, but ALL of us can show them to you. In reality, you donメt care if I did a wonderful job for Julieメs wedding or delivered a beautiful album to Krystal or Karen and her mom really LOVES us. What you care about is -- what kind of a set of photos am I going to deliver to YOU.

What you are paying for more than anything is the CONFIDENCE that you will get a beautiful set of photos ヨ photos of the people, details, events and emotions that make up YOUR wedding day.

How do you make SURE that the photographer who you are hiring will give you that kind of confidence?

First, be sure that you can really communicate with the photographer. Be sure that he/she understands you and what you want your photos to be. Be sure that you completely understand him/her and what they are promising to deliver to you. Two-way communication is vital.

Most importantly, there is only one way to truly qualify your photographer. Here is the secret (by the way, the other photographers hate for me to tell you this):

When you are sitting down with the photographer, ask them to show you COMPLETE sets of the photos from the last two weddings that they have covered (most canメt or wonメt be able to do this). This will show you if the photographer will capture all the important elements at EVERY wedding they shoot.

You donメt want the photographer who captures a great wedding once every three times or twice every three times. You want to have the confidence that THIS photographer will capture a great set of photos EVERY wedding. This is what will give you the confidence to relax on your wedding day ヨ to know that you will have a great set of wedding photos. You are paying for that ability to relax and enjoy your day!

Come in to Lumina. We will sit down with you, listen to the vision of your wedding and then show you complete sets of similar weddings from this year. We have a total of over 65,000 wedding photos ヨ if you have the time ヨ we will show all of them to you! It is THAT important and we are THAT sure of what we will deliver to you!

Call me today. Glen Sayes, Lumina Photography, (425) 355-1415.

What is the best white for you?

How do you feel about the brilliance of your smile? Try-on your wedding gown (and veil if you have one) and smile. Notice how your smile looks in comparison to your wedding ensemble. Your teeth may be pearly white in your everyday clothes, but when you are surrounded in the white, ivory, or cream of a wedding gown, your teeth may not look as brilliant. The greater the difference in color, the more appropriate professional whitening would be in order to give you the most dramatic results. There are a variety of whitening options and permanent dental procedures available, and we can help you choose the one that's best for you.

Always preselect and preview!!

Girls, I just had a consultation with a bride who at the beginning of our appointment, like so many others, thought that pre-selecting her make-up for the wedding was not important.

On the contrary - it is as important as your dress!!
I have seen many pictures over the last few years of brides who have an awesome dress, and who are absolutely beautiful women, but in the photos their face almost dissapears!! Don't underestimate the need to accentuate your features...especially for evening weddings when the photographer will be using a flash.

And ALWAYS preview your look ahead of time. The colors you see in a compact may not appear the same on your skin. The look you pick may be too dramatic for a wedding if you choose colors that are too dark and don't practice with them ahead of time.

You picked out makeup for prom...you pick it out for other major events. How much more important is your wedding day??

As soon as you pick your dress, you should pick out your look. Thumb through your bridal magazines and look at the make-up on the models in the wedding gowns. Find colors similar and work with them to create the perfect look that's right for you.

Or schedule a FREE consultation with me, and we will select and preview the perfect look for you. Bring along a picture of your dress and pictures of makeup you like.

Then you can be confident that your gown and your face will together be picture perfect.

Best Wishes,
Jenni

Put Your Best Face Forward on Your Wedding Day with NuVANTE!

As your special day approaches, get ready to put your best face forward with NuVante! What is NuVante? It is a simple, active, clean skincare product line. It is simple - simple to use, once in the morning and once in the evening. It is active - active ingredients help to nourish, exfoliate and replenish the skin with necessary ingredients that work on a cellular level to promote and achieve healthy skin. Clean - clean from harmful and unnecessary ingredients.

Hereメs a question often asked: Why do I keep getting whiteheads even though I clean my face every day?

We found out that proper exfoliation prevents Milia, those annoying little bumps that appear as whiteheads below the surface of the skin that never seem to go away. And unfortunately, cleanliness isn't the problem - milia form because of the skin's inability to naturally exfoliate.
When the skin cells do not exfoliate, they form tiny cysts that appear like white beads and become trapped below the surface of the skin. This forms the thick material that oozes out when you pop the whitehead, which you are of course strongly recommended not to do.

So what has worked for us and what do we recommend?

Since exfoliation is very important when dealing with milia-prone skin, by keeping the epidermis thin and smooth, you can cut down on their formation. Replenish, one of the active products by NuVANTE accomplishes this goal.

Sometimes, milia wonメt come out of the skin's surface, despite your best efforts. Then you may need your dermatologist to remove the milia. In a physicianメs office, milia are easily removed. The skin is cleansed, and the skin overlying the milia is gently opened with a sterile lancet or needle. Pressure is applied with a comedone extractor, and the milia typically pop out.

Using rejuvenating and exfoliating products like Nourish and Replenish is important not only to prevent milia but to also create optimally healthy skin.

If you are interested in trying Nourish and Replenish, you may visit my website at http://www.nuvante.com/ginamartinez for a complete line of products, how to use guide, ingredients and a whole lot more.

Or you can email me and ask me how to get a full weeks sample of 8 of our products to try in your home.

Thanks for reading and hereメs to a new era in healthy skin!
