Picking wood furniture-light or dark stains?
So many homes and apartments are now built with an open floorplan, with the living area and the kitchen blended. Maple cabinets in the kitchen, with no stain or a very light stain, are the most popular right now.
Yet wood furniture for the living area is predominently dark, even very dark, such as espresso. I don't think many of us want to go back to the dark kitchens of the past, so we will need to live with the challenge of getting these 2 areas, kitchen and living room, to coordinate.

Six ways to avoid identity theft
Thereメs no guarantee that youメll never fall victim to identity theft, but there are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself from it.
1. Destroy personal records and statements. Tear up or shred credit card statements, solicitations and other documents that contain private financial information.
2. Secure your mail. Empty your mailbox right away every day. You may also want to get a locking mail box or a P.O. box. This way, criminals donメt have a chance to steal credit card applications. Avoid mailing outgoing bill payments and checks from home. They can be stolen from your mailbox. Instead, mail them from the post office or another secure location.
3. Protect your Social Security number. Never carry your card with you, or any other card that may have your number, like a health insurance card. It's the primary target for identity thieves because it gives them access to your credit report and bank accounts.
4. Donメt divulge your personal information. Ask salespeople and others if information such as a Social Security or driverメs license number is absolutely necessary. Often times it is not.
5. Monitor your credit report. Obtain and thoroughly review your credit report at least once a year to look for suspicious activity. If you spot something, alert your card company or the creditor immediately
6. Review your credit card statements carefully. Make sure you recognize the merchants, locations and purchases listed before paying the bill. If you don't need or use department-store or bank-issued credit cards, consider closing the accounts.

Hints About Studio Lighting...
The importance of studio lighting
Do you want everyone to look their best in your wedding photos? On site studio lighting provides the soft, warm illumination that you see on magazine covers. With 2 or 3 unobtrusive sources, your entire hall, church, or outdoor location can be greatly enhanced. You won't get the harsh, blown out photos that often result from typical camera flashes.
Check with your prospective photographers about their current use and experience with the sophisticated lighting that is required for the most flattering results.
PS- Dear Brides-to-Be, Please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions or just need some advice. Not that I know it all, but I always like to help out, especially for your special day!

DJ Ed Waterman's Top 10
DJ Ed Waterman from Entertainment Northwest is widely considered to be THE BEST wedding DJ in the Northwest. He has performed at over 1500 weddings, STILL does over 60 weddings a year from referrals alone, and has done events as high profile as the homecoming of the USS Abraham Lincoln, returning from it's stint in Operation Enduring Freedom.
What is DJ Ed's Top 10 songs to get a wedding kicking?? We statistically rate EVERY SONG WE PLAY over thousands of weddings to get to which songs receive the best response statistically at an all-ages wedding. And here they are (not necessarily in order) . . . the best FAST dance songs as of August 2005 . . .
* Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC)
* In Da Club (50 Cent)
* Shout (Otis Day & The Knights)
* Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees)
* Yeah! (Usher)
* The Way You Move (Outkast)
* Hot In Herre (Nelly)
* Pour Some Sugar On Me (Def Leppard)
* Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
* Ice Ice Baby (Vanilla Ice)
Of course, we have lists of the Top 10 and Top 25 dance songs for each era. For instance, if you want alot of disco, we have a list of the Top 10 70's Dance songs of all time that you could choose to have us play at your event.
We let YOU choose as much of the music as you wish! Let us help you by showing you statistically which songs in your chosen categories have the best chance for success.

Salty's On Alki Rocks!
Ok, we have had a GREAT summer doing some events at Salty's At Alki in West Seattle. A few years back, they brought in a new chef that is FABULOUS and most weekend nights, their events are handled by Jimmy, among the very best day-of-event managers in the business. We love Michelle at The Skansonia, Victoria at L.U.C., Mary at Sun Mountain Lodge and Julie at Port Gamble Weddings, but if you are looking for a GREAT event and a GREAT coordinator to pull it off, Jimmy and his staff are among the very best.
The dos Remedios wedding and Argudo weddings were spectacular and we're certain both clients would recommend DJ Ed Waterman and Entertainment Northwest for any great event at Salty's At Alki, as well as recommending photographers Fred Calma and Grant Horiuchi.
We'll let our super happy clients speak for us . . .
"Ed,
Thank you so much for taking such good care of us at our wedding reception. Your idea of having us dance our formal dances on the deck was AWESOME! We have received so many compliments about that. We were impressed how you could play Louis Armstrong to Snoop Dogg and keep everyone on the dance floor. Thank you for the great time!
Tom & Sarah dos Remedios"
What more can we say??? Hire us for your special day too!
We Are Always Motivated To Please,

DJ Nick Can Satisfy A Bride!
Here is one of dozens of emails and letters we receive each summer from our super happy clients. This bride and groom rave about DJ Nick from Entertainment Northwest.
"Hi Ed.
I don't know where to start! Nick was and is simply the best. When we had our first meeting with him, he was great. Very professional and knowledgeable. He put us at ease with how the evening would progress. His advise was also invaluable. The night of the wedding he was professional, personable and very engaging with the crowd. He listened to what we wanted and made sure it happened. He really kept the guests entertained and events flowing. We would recommend him to anyone. We have had so many compliments on our wedding and owe a great deal of it to your company and Nick. Thanks again for the great service we received from both of you.
Trent and Janet Olson (Stellingwerf)"

Wow! You just never know where love could be.
Read this heart-warming story and see if you don't get chills.
On a cold day in 1942, inside a Nazi concentration camp, a lone young boy looks beyond the barbed wire and sees a young girl pass by. She too, is moved by his presence. In an effort to give expression to her feelings, she throws a red apple over the fence--a sign of life, hope and love. The young boy bends over and picks up the apple. A ray of light has pierced his darkness. The following day, the young girls passes by again. Despite another day of wintery blizzards and chilling air, two hearts are warmed once again as the apple passes over the barbed wire. The scene is repeated several days. One day, the young boy greets his sweet friend with a frown and says, "Tomorrow don't bring me an apple. I will not be here. They are sending me to another camp." The young boy walks away too heartbroken to look back. His family died in the war and the life he had known all but vanished, except this one memory remained alive and gave him hope.
In 1957 in the United States, two adults, both immigrants, are set up on a blind date. "And where were you during the war?" inquires the woman? "I was in a concentration camp in Germany," the man replies.
"I remember I used to throw apples over the fence to a boy who was in a concentration camp," she recalls. With a feeling of shock, the man speaks, "Did that boy say to you one day, 'Don't bring an apple anymore because I am being sent to another camp'?"
"Why, yes," she responds, "but how could you possibly know that?" He looks into her eyes and says, "I was that young boy."
There is a brief silence, and then he continues, "I was separated from you then and I don't ever want to be without you again. Will you marry me?" They embrace one another as she says, "Yes."
This story comes from "Small Miracles" by Yitta Halberstam and Judith Leventhal. A very good read!

Our reasons for what we do
Hi everyone!
Thanks for checking us out. We are a group of professional videographers, editors, and designers who got together 5 years ago and decided that high quality video production didn't have to cost so much. We've been fulfilling that business plan ever since.
Cedar Park Media believes that treating every client fairly, with the highest integrity in everything we do, is not a lost business ethic. We choose to give everyone the best we have to offer, and our clients notice! You have enough to think about and do on your wedding day. Worrying about if the videographer remembered to videotape everything you asked for shouldn't be one of those concerns.
Thanks in advance for considering us to help make your wedding day a life-long lasting memory.

Top Ten Financial Considerations For Newlyweds
So what happens to our finances after we get married?!
Here are some helpful tips:
From the beginning, save 15 - 20% of your income. By combining households, you should reduce your expenses a lot which should allow you to save. You should save to build your cash reserves, in your 401k plans and in a mutual fund.
Rather than simply keeping two checkbooks like before you were married, pool your money into one checkbook and one savings account or money market.
Work together on budgeting and tracking expenditures.
Discuss your approaches to handling money -- is one person a spender and one a saver? Create some ground rules on handling any differences.
Make a list of upcoming purchases together and prioritize them. You should decide jointly how to spend your money now.
Change all of the beneficiaries on life insurance plans, retirement and other plans at work, and IRAs to your new spouse.
Decide how debts accumulated by each individual prior to the marriage (i.e. student loans) will be handled.
If both incomes are needed to pay expenses, be sure to have adequate life insurance.
Be sure to let each other know where important documents are kept.
Consolidate your credit cards to avoid having double the number of credit cards needed. Keep only one credit card from prior to your marriage. the card that you have the longest. it is the one that tells credit card company your track record.

Refined from Minerals
Minerelles cosmetics are created from micronized
minerals that reflect light and provide sheer protection
against the environment. Pure pigments glide
seamlessly onto your face... and allow skin to breather.
The micronized minerals won't cake or build up on
your skin; instead, they reflect light away from fine
lines, reducing the signs of aging. Result: the radiant
look of a healthy, youthful complexion.

Bridesmaid Gifts-Have You Bought Yours?
A Recent "Maui Beach Bride" let me know that buying barefoot sandals for all her bridesmaids as gifts, was an excellent idea. This bride knew her attendants well enough that each pair was hand-selected in their own personal-favorite colors. They loved them! Since we handcraft our sandals in so many colors, it made the selection process easy for her.
My sister and I design every pair that you see on our website and we're always coming up with new color combinations and bead shape and size ideas, however since we also custom-design sandals, you could have a pair made with your own favorite colors. We recently designed barefoot sandals for all the female attendants in a seaside wedding, including the flower girl. The peach and mint green colors together were so gorgeous with their dresses and the bride said that she received SO many comments about how the sandals put that finishing touch on their outfits that day. Also, each pair comes with its own organza drawstring bag, that we color-coordinate with each pair.

Three More Great Venues Now Recommend Entertainment Northwest Disc Jockeys
Wow! It has been another great year of weddings so far. We have had the NICEST clients this year and our DJ's are really enjoying their summer.
The Washington Athletic Club (also know as the W.A.C.) has been a downtown institution for years as a meeting place for the movers and shakers in the business world, as well as a workout club and a hotel. Their members often have their weddings there. Well, the W.A.C. has come to acknowledge that we provide a high quality, very reliable DJ service and have been giving us alot of business for weddings, corporate events and even the UW Law School Gala. Thanks!
Roche Harbor Resort in the San Juans recently joined our list of fans after one of our senior DJ's had a great event and integrated flawlessly with the staff at Roche Harbor. They will now be recommending us for many of their events. While travel to the San Juans is expensive and costs our DJ's over $200 for a single night's hotel, ferry and travel, we only upcharge $100 to go to the San Juans! We often work Rosario Resort as well . . .
The Hollywood Schoolhouse has been a most graceous host this year. We have already performed at six or more events and their facility on the "Woodinville Strip" is exceptional, as is the quality of their food and their exceptional staff. We have had many exceptional weddings there this year which prompted their day-of-event manager to ask for our business materials to recommend us to future prospective brides. Thanks Hollywood Schoolhouse!
Now that we work the Columbia Winery and Hollywood Schoolhouse so often, we just need to lock up Willow's Lodge in between-- we work there quite often too, however from the direct bookings of the clients holding their events there. Woodinville has never had such great, high quality venues and we highly recommend The Columbia Winery, Willows Lodge or The Hollywood Schoolhouse to ANY bride looking for a special day with a great staff.
These join the MANY other venues that often refer us, including Port Gamble Weddings, the Skansonia Ferry, Kiana Lodge, Woodland Park Rainforest Pavilion, Point Defiance Weddings, Olympic Lodge, Sun Mountain Lodge and the Columbia Winery. Also, top wedding day vendors like Teddi Yaeger Photography, AWI Photography, Natural Light Photography and Wedding Technology Video recommend us as well.
Thank you for your support and we will soon be adding links directly to W.A.C., Roche Harbor Resort and The Hollywood Schoolhouse on our website.
Signing out,
