First Time Blogger
Hello, this is my first blog post ever! I am starting this blog for a couple of reasons, but the most important one for me is that I want to give you an opportunity to get to know me better as a person and as a professional photographer. So I will just start with a few basic facts about myself and we will see how this develops together.
My name is Christian and I have been a photographer for 17 years.
I live in Tacoma with my wife and two sons, I have a four year old and a 7 month old.
I am passionate about photography because I really love people and I love trying to discover the most beautiful things about a person and turning those things into art. I have a serious love for faces and for body parts, ok ok I know how that sounds but I do not mean it in a bad way. I just mean that sometimes when the light is perfect the curve of the back or neck is the most incredible art God has placed on this planet. People are beautiful, I really think every one has at least one feature that is something that elevates them to the extraordinary. I love to find that little grin that makes your face light up or that certain posture you take when you are thinking, Those are the really important things you want a photographer to discover. The little things that make you wonderful! Well that is all for tonight I will try to post again soon. Until then...

Why they like Wedding Day DJ's
I felt it was important to let you all know why other brides have chosen us and what about us they like.
The very first and most often mentioned reason brides like us is our attitude concerning what we do. They say that we are very personable and professional. They like that fact that we have fun at their wedding as if we were a guest of theirs and not a vendor. The second most mentioned is our web site (www.tenjewels.com/weddings) because it allows them to organize and put together a customized playlist of what to play and what not to play. They also enjoy our music selection and planning forms also found online.
In all Wedding Day DJ's/ Ten Jewels Entertainment, from what others have to say, is a very professional, established group of professional DJ's who are very concerned about customer satisfaction and providing quality, very entertaining Disc Jockey Services.
Sincerely,
Xavier Finch

What is the difference between silver & lead crystal?
Lead crystal is a mixture of glass with lead oxide in it with special unique cuts that make it sparkle. Silver crystal is made the same way but they add precious metal in the form of silver oxide instead of lead oxide to the mix. It has more shine, shimmers, sparkle and has more value than lead does. Another difference is silver crystal comes in color. We carry reds, purple, honey, pinks and blues. The last major difference is over time when you leave acidic wines or some liqueurs in your lead crystal decanters, the lead will leach out of the crystal into your alochol causing lead poisoning. Silver crystal decanters don't have that problem. Charlemagne gets its' product from several factories that have been in business for over 20 years. Our silver crystal stemware and decanters are well known in Europe and the Middle East.

Feelings still important to you?
I just returned home from a seminar hosted by Bridesclub and heard about even more changes and attitude changes than I ever imagined were possible.
Wow, the wedding world has changed over the last five years. Not to mention the last twenty. Digital technology, CD-ROM, DVD Albums, website evolution, blog sites. I am possitive they are for the most part good changes, just look at the new Flush albums...they are so cool...and artsy...gotta love them.
I wonder what is most important to you brides though. I don't mean...which "vendor" is going to get your business, and why. Thats the commercial stuff we get from marketing companies.
What I'm talking about is like...is it still the feeling like a "princess" joining your "prince"? Is it the celebration? Is it the ceremony and public commitment?
I am curious what has stayed the same when so much has evolved?
E-mail me...I really want to hear from you guys...just curious.
Good night.

Experienced Designer
Hi Brides,
I know it's hard to trust someone to do your invitations that may seem a world away, but I have quite a history in the design business.
Not only do I design invitations, but I'm a graphic designer for many high-level clients. My past has allowed me to do work for many Fortune 500 companies such as The Coca-Cola Company, Disney, AT&T and American Express.
So, never fear. You're in good hands. I know that your big day is JUST AS important as any of those jobs from the 'big guys'.
Aloha!

How to Word an Invitation
Hello Brides!
Ever wonder what's the best way to word your invitation without offending any extended family members? Here are a few suggestions.
If one of these situations doesn't apply to you, just write whatever reflects your personal style! Just remember to be creative, but don't forget to include the who, what, when, where and when.
1. When the Bride's Parents Host:
(If the groom's folks are the hosts, adjust to read "son".)
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Koehl
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Abigail Jane
to
Jack Albert Decker
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
at five o'clock ("in the morning/afternoon/evening" is optional)
two thousand and five
First Presbyterian Church
Rye, New York
2. When Both Sets of Parents Host:
(It used to be standard for the bride's family to host, but it's now perfectly acceptable for both families to help out.)
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Koehl
and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Decker
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their children
Abigail Jane
And
Jack Albert
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
etc.
3. When the Couple Hosts:
(You can choose separate reception cards to include your details if you don't want to include it on the main invitation. If the reception is in the same place as the ceremony, just put "reception immediately afterward" on the invite.)
Ms. Abigail Jane Koehl
And
Mr. Jack Albert Decker
request the pleasure of your company
at their marriage
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
etc.
Reception afterward at
Tappan Hill
81 Highland Avenue
Tarrytown, New York
4. When a Single Parent Hosts:
(If a divorced father hosts the wedding, the invitation should carry his full name.)
Mr. William Robert Garner
requests the honor of your presence
at the marriage of his daughter
Anna Elaine
to
Theodore James
son of
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ryder
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
etc.
5. When a Divorced Parent Hosts with Their Spouse:
(The "son of" line is nice to include as to acknowledge his parents.)
Jonathan and Susan Mackey
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of Mrs. Mackey's daughter
Abigail Jane Reese
to
Theodore James Garner
son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Garner
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
etc.
6. When Divorced Parents Hosts Jointly:
(Stepparents can be included on the same line as their spouses, but don't put divorced parents on the same line on an invite because it can confuse guests.)
Mr. Albert Cohen
and
Mrs. Mindy Wakeman
request the honor of your company
at the marriage of their daughter
Alexandria Jane Cohen
to
Ashton James Baker
son of
Mr. and Mrs. William Baker
Saturday, the fifteenth of October
etc.
Until next time!

How to dispute a credit card purchase-good to know!
If you are like many brides, you've used a credit card to purchase one or more of your wedding items. But isnメt it frustrating when you buy a product and bring it home, only to discover the product is damaged or poorly made? Then, when your try to return the defective item, the merchant refuses to replace it or give you a refund. If you purchased it with a credit card, your card company may be able to help.
Credit card purchases are protected under the Fair Credit Billing Act. This law gives the consumer the right to withhold payment on poor-quality or damaged merchandise bought with a credit card.
According to the law, you must first make a real effort at resolving the dispute with the merchant before you can ask your credit card company to stop a payment. The sale must be for more than $50 and have taken place in your home state or within 100 miles of your home address. Not all credit card companies enforce the $50 or 100-mile rule on purchases, but all are free to do so. To get the Fair Credit Billing Act to work for you, here's what you need to do:
If possible, take the defective merchandise back to the store. Otherwise, call the store and ask for a manager or supervisor. Keep records of each conversation. If the merchant won't budge, put your complaint in writing. Outline the dispute in a short, detailed letter to the merchant and send it certified mail. Because card companies are eager to hang on to their customers, especially good ones, they'll often go above and beyond what's required of them by law when a customer is unhappy with a card purchase. To dispute a bill, it's best to move quickly. You'll want to inform your card issuer of the disputed charge before it's due for payment. You can't withhold a payment once a bill is paid.
Best of Luck!

Wedding Favor History & Favorites
Well now Iメm curious about the origins of wedding favors. The thoughtful mementos that are given to your wedding guests as a keepsake and reminder of your special day.
Evidently, in the late 17th century, it was very common for wedding guests to receive favors such as scarves, garters, or gloves. Greek legends speak of wedding favors such as five sugar-coated almonds as symbols of health, wealth, fertility, happiness and long-life. Sounds like the ho hum Jordan almonds doesnメt it, now they mean something.
Modern brides have become more creative in their expressions of gratitude to guests through wedding favors. Wedding favors are often a reflection of a coupleメs personal style. At many favor vendors, I see they are continuously searching for elegant, distinctive wedding favors that will leave a lasting impression for you and your guests.
Whatメs the most popular for next season? You tell me.

Wedding Favors, where your personality shines
I don't know about the rest of you, but I've always enjoyed seeing (and collect) interesting wedding favors. Even though I really do like ho hum Jordan Almonds, my favorites are clever and inexpensive.
Handmade & craftsy momentos are also nice, but very time consuming. Something that speaks to the couples interests are nice. I saw little "buoy key ring fobs" for the couple that liked to sail. Another was a mini wine bottle for collectors of fine wines.
I did see one I thought was nice on a website this week, if you are already aware of the site, forgive me. It is a small glass oil bottle with a grape design from FAVOR OUTLET at www.favoroutlet.com.
Anyone else have some really original ideas? I think using a cutting edge yet seasoned professional consultant is the best way to arrive at an interesting favor, and wedding in general.
Lets hear those ideas!

Friendly people, beautiful terrain, realistic pace of living will hopefully make this and end destination for us.

Brides Lining Up To Hire Entertainment Northwest!
Ok, LOTS of kudos go out to Brad Buckles and BridesClub.com for putting on THE BEST Seattle Wedding Show EVER at Seahawks Stadium. We met with and handed out flyers to more than 600 brides and many of you booked on the spot from our immaculate reputation in the wedding business and the referrals of your friends. Our email has been "lit up" by anxious brides looking to lock in our top shelf DJ's for their event.
Special kudos go out to our FAV bride Sarah who said, "We have everything booked and the last thing we needed was a DJ. We came to the show just to book a DJ and you BY FAR have the best personality of any of the DJ's in this show. I'm SO HAPPY we found you!"
She went on to say that her fiance is stalked by a psycho ex, they need life guards so the kids don't fall off the deck into the water, her fiance dances like a geek and her fiance has pledged to "do the robot" if we play the right song--though we won't hold that against Sarah! Her friend also wanted to "rent" the guy from Brad's bridal show as her date at her wedding . . . Sounds like our kind of client and Sarah can party with us ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!
Best wishes to all you brides on your special day and this just goes to show that even if YOU are stalked by an ex, may fall into water, can't even watch your fiance dance or don't even know what "the robot" is, Entertainment Northwest will be there for you on your special day!
Email us soon-- we are already completely booking up for key dates next year (especially New Year's Eve, March and July).
Sincerely,

Questions to ask when hiring A Makeup Artist
Hello Brides!
Congatulations on your upcoming wedding!
My name is Sharona Schweitzer, and I am the Principal Artist and Trainer for Schweitzer Makeup & Skincare Studios. I have provided Makeup Services in Washington for 20 years. I would like to suggest a few questions to ask the Makeup Artist you are considering hiring:
1. Where did you receive your Makeup Training?
2. How long have you done Makeup?
3. Do you have references?
4. Ask to see photos of the work done by the person that would be doing Makeup for YOU. Make sure the photos look polished .
5. Are they trained in Diversity Makeup? (Are they accomplished in Makeup application for Mature skin, Global skintones, diverse eye shapes, and concealing of spots, scars or acne?)
6.How do you ensure sanitary practices in your Makeup Applications?
7. How serious are you about punctuality, professional attire and behavior ?
8. Do you do whatever you want, or are you open to designing a look that I will be most comfortable with?
9. Do they travel to you? Price per person? Travel Fee?
10. Do they offer practice application? Price? Travel fee?
All of these things should help when deciding on the person(s) that will be helping you achieve your "dream come true" Bridal Look! I hope that you will consider Schweitzer Studios.
Yours in Service,
Sharona

"Kidding" around when it comes to Love
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth." Billy - age 4
"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss" Emily - age 8
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day." Mary Ann - age 4
"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget." Jessica - age 8

JAZZ UNLIMITED BAND - UP-DATE
I THERE:
This is a letter from Duane Wright, the leader of the JAZZ UNLIMITED BAND.I would like to share with you some exciting news about the band.
It IS so GREAT to work with so many Brides and to choose music that they love. I love to play music that will last for ever, and love to see the happiness on the faces of the Bride, Groom, Relatives and Friends. This makes my day.
I want to share with you some wonderful news. I have two new female singers that are just terrific vocalist.
BONNIE -
Is a vocalist that I have been trying to hire for over two years. She sings all kinds and styles of music and has a beautiful voice. Also, Her voice blends beautifully with my saxophone. It's a killer of a sound. Her vocals with the
saxophone playing a soft harmony background is beautiful. Our audiences love it. Bonnie is so very popular at our wedding receptions. You will all LOVE HER.
LARISSA -
Is a Classicial Singer with a beautiful voice that will be singing for Wedding Ceremonies. We will now offer special vocal solos by Larissa and also offer duets with Larissa and me playing my clarinet in the lower register, (accompanied
by piano). Again on certain songs, I will play bits of harmony with her. This sound is very beautiful. Larissa also sings in German, Italian, French, and Spanish.
MUSICIANS -
I'm so blessed to have such a wonderful group of musicians. When you look at our pictures (will be on the web site ASAP), you are looking at professionals who can play all styles and kinds of music. It was not easy to find this caliber of musician
and it took nearly four years to find them. This is why we can play an "UNLIMITED" VARIETY OF MUSIC. This is so important in providing the right music for your weddings.
The reason I mentioned all this, is because I want you to know that I want to always offer you the very best in music. Your wedding day is so importnt and we take this important responsibility seriously. I want the music to be perfect for you and your Groom. Perfect for your loved ones and friends.
We would love to meet you. We will be at the Brides Club EXPO at Quest Field on September 10 and 11, 2005. Please stop by and say hello. We will be in booth number 425. BEST WISHES
