Kids say the darndest things...
Aloha,
Recently, I was asked to DJ and MC a reception. I usually don't MC, but I will make an exception here and there and I may go back to it in the future. For the most part however, I am pretty busy with the planning and performance side of what I do.
Anyhow, we did several custom voice recordings and a special dedication from the daughter to her father that we played during their Unity Dance. It was a really nice reception; elegant and traditional with alot of emotion. Anyhow, while the bride and groom were giving their thank yous, the 4 year old daughter pulled me to the side and asked me to "call her up". She wanted to say something... imagine the surprise on her mother's face when I introduced her daughter and helped her stand on her chair facing mommy and daddy. From there, I handed her a microphone and she stood there and told everyone how much she loved her mommy and daddy and congratulations on getting married. It was a really special and unique moment that had everyone in tears and smiles.
Because I had taken the time to get to know their daughter, she was comfortable with approaching me and allowing me to hold her hand as she was introduced. She hugged me at the end of the night and thanked me for helping her mommy and daddy.
DJ's do more than just play music. When you sit down with your DJ, ask them how they're going to make your special day memorable and unique for you.
Until next time, Aloha!

Need a little spark for your wedding night?
A lot of men believe that their wedding night gift should come in the bedroom on the night of their wedding. By the end of your wedding day, that could be the last thing on your mind. Weddings can be exhausting. If you need some help in spicing things up, you could plan something new and exciting for both of you. If it is something you are looking forward to, you're more likely to save some energy for a fun filled night. Remember, your wedding signifies a new journey for both of you. Learn, grow and experiment together...it will keep the bonds of your marriage strong for years to come.

Wedding Website Amazing at Keeping Details Organized
I created a wedding website for myself last summer, and I honestly think it was the best decision I made for the wedding. I live in Seattle and the wedding was in Ohio, so keeping the wedding party and all of the vendors organized was challenging. We included a blog for friends to chat and catch up, hotel information as well as camping information and other attractions for those travelling a long distance and who might be staying in the area awhile, links to the caterers, photographer, musicians, ceremony, and reception sites, turn-by-turn directions, calendars, online RSVP database that sorted all guests and made predicting seating easy, online gift registry, and our engagement photos. I encourage all brides-to-be to consider this, it was definitely worth the time, and was honestly a lot of fun to have. Send me an email (amber@invitidesigns.com) if you're interested or just want to hear more, and good luck to you!
-Amber :)

Additional ideas for decorations:
Using tulle or shimmering organza, swag the fabric to each or every other chair starting at the front and working down the aisles (both sides) to the back of the church or last row of chairs. Then at each pew, gather the fabric & tie it with a small rubber band, place a bow in your colors/theme on top for a unified effect.
Instead of pew bows, use pew markers, which come in variety of shapes and colors (http://www.balsacircle.com/Pew-Markers-Wreaths-01-P1.php). After ceremony they could be taken from the pew to decorate either the backs of the head table and chairs, used as centerpieces for the guest tables or placed on the gift or buffet tables as well.
To make your wedding more personal, you can decorate every second pew with your framed pictures.
You can personalize your aisle runner by adding a saying on it. For an example, モWherever You Go, I Will Followヤ, モWherever The Road May Leadヤ, モI have found the one my heart loves...ヤ or モI Promise You All My Lifeナヤ You can do it by sewing it on or by using stencils.
If you want to have elaborate aisle runner, you can use spray adhesive and glue on silk flowers along the edges. Fresh flowers might be too fragile for that purpose.
If you use fresh flowers and arrange them yourself, it is best to arrange them just after the rehearsal dinner in order to maintain the vivid appearance of the decorations. In this instance, you can ask your friends and family to help. You can also attach flowers with greenery to our florist ready bows which come in a variety of colors and styles to ensure that you get the color combinations you desire.

Personally Yours
If you are like most brides-to-be, you probably have been dreaming of your wedding day since you were a little girl. But, the one thing you didn't dream of is all the planning to make your day personally yours.
Personalizing your wedding doesn't have to be stressful. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
~ Pick your cermony and reception locations that's your favorite escape (the beach, mountains, lakes, etc).
~ Present a favorite drink
~ Create a wedding theme around your favorite time in history (Medieval, Victorian)
~ Use your favorite poems, colors, flowers, country
If you are having a hard time discovering how to personalize your wedding. Start by writing a list of your favorite things. Once you have created your list, research how you can use each item within your wedding to make the statement "this day is mine". You will be suprised of just how creative you can be.

Lots of Wedding Planning Advice & Resources
The Seattle Times ran a special section this past week about wedding planning. One of the resources they highlighted in their "4 Things We Dig" section was the JCPenney wedding registry. The free wedding binder available for brides who register on the site looks fantastic. Check it out.

Dress for Less; Brides on a Budget
For many Brides, getting a beautiful wedding and staying within a limited budget contradict each other. For instance, often a right-out-of-college woman is paying off loans & dealing with living costs. Even if the Bride doesn't have this worry, because her parents are generous or her own finances are in good order, the Bride's Maids might have these financial concerns. So how can a girl get great style with out breaking the bank?...
Problem: You want picture perfect style for your wedding, but the budget is tight.
Solutions:
1) Think rental: While the Bride may resist this idea for herself, the Bride's Maids are likely to be thrilled with the idea of this budget-saving option. Look for formal dress rental companies in your area, or online. You can save up to 75% off what you'd pay for a "keeper". Most of these rental businesses will also rent high-quality coordinating accessories.
2) Shop After-Season-Sales: Post Christmas/New Year's Sales & Post Prom Season clearances are great opportunities to secure a rock bottom price on sky-high fashion trends.
3) Don't be afraid of large Department Stores. At the time of this blog entry, Macys, Saks and other major stores are preparing for their Mem. Day Sales. Dresses by Evan Picone, Maggy London, Donna Morgan, Vera Wang, BCBG, Anne Klein, & Kay Unger are, and will be, fabulously marked down (I am particularly fond of the platinum "Vera Wang Maids" Satin V-Neck currently on clearance at Macys.com).
4) Remember not to be afraid to think out of the box in any area of your wedding. As an example, I did a search online for "cocktail dress", and "silk dress". This sent me to resources not normally associated with bridal shopping... Chadwicks, Speigel, Overstock.com, metrostyle.com (a Lerner partner) and specialty boutiques.
Lastly, take time to consider, not only your vision, but the well-being of those persons you've asked to join in the celebration. Remember that your big day is really about WHO shares in the special moments, not WHAT they are wearing.
Sincerely
Gina at A Greater Plan

On a personal note... I decided to open Brown Bag Parties by Debbie to get out there and meet more people and for extra income. It has been a rewarding job! I do home parties and Bachelorette parties... Bachelorette parties have been the most fun. Usually my demonstration is part of many events that night and usually the bride ends up winning - she gets 20% of sales toward products! Tell your bridesmaids about us and lets have some fun.

Give me 9 days of commitment & you will lose inches & pounds!
If you want to drop some weight, feel healthier, & clean your body, Isagenix is your answer. Especially if you're crunched for time. Isagenix works if you follow it exactly for the 9 days. Just 9 days of commitment & YOU WILL LOSE! The first time I did the 9 day program, I lost 8 pounds & 11.25 inches off my body, mostly off my midsection. I've continued to lose with the Maintenance Pak & feel healthier than I ever felt. My husband got fantastic results from the 9 day program. He too is on the Maintenance program. I have before & after pictures of him. I'm still a work in progress. Email me if you would like more info. There is also a 30 day program for those who have the time to spare.

Setting Budgets for Invitations and Stationery!
One of the hardest things to do when planning a wedding is ascertaining what one is going to spend on each item, and on what basis to establish a budget.
Hopefully, the next few blogs will help you as a bride get an idea of what is "rationale and reasonable".
Most wedding magazines offer guidelines for budget setting on various items for the wedding. Unfortunately, when it comes to invitations, they are basing budgets on invitations being "advertised in their publication" which translates to pushing in print their advertisers' products.
When I was the Senior Advertising Sales Account Executive and Manager here in Saint Louis for The Wall Street Journal, I can assure that I got asked all the time if there was a marriage between editorial and advertising, and I can tell you that "THERE WAS NOT, and IS NOT" with that publication.
However, basing a budget for invitations on what one sees in mail order catalogues is like trying to find 100 per cent cotton engraved or letterpress or foil printed invitations in a "Sears Roebuck Catalogue". It is NOT going to happen.
Nor, will you have the option of custom printed motifs or camera ready art going into the work, nor will you ever get 100 per cent cotton stock with these companies.
So, back to sqaure one. How do I set a budget? Well, you can look at Crane's, and you can look at William Arthur, higher end products, and then, you can find 100 per cent cotton invitations in a number of other "great" companies with interesting designs without quite the priciness of these products. We are not presently carrying these lines because we "choose to carry" lines that DO NOT REQUIRE THAT we have a minimum "sales record" because this might influence us in how we marketed our products...
...bottom line, it allows us to stand in our integrity, and work to achieve the highest product for the best price with the greatest amount of service to our clients.
When a client comes to us for a custom or customized product, we do all we can to make the cardstock we use, and the design(s) cohesive and meet the goals of our bridal clients. We love creating with you to make the product(s) your own, not just something that has been sent out hundreds of times before.
Let's see, an average wedding invitation for 150 invitations, with reception, respond cards, and informal/thank you notes, and printed flaps on the outer flap of the envelopes and a custom designed map with directions and accommodations on the back of the map card is in the range of $800 to $1,000. That is realistic.
For just a hundred or so dollars more, you may choose a unique look, and most likely, choose to have us show you how to assemble the ensemble and get a nearly $3000 look for half or less of this cost. These are a LOT of printed pieces, and layers and ribbons for the cost. And, a huge presentation of the look you want for your invitations.
With proper planning, we may actually plan ahead with you on stock to use the same matching cardstock for covers for your wedding programs, and for seating or table number cards or both.
By planning with a designer and a printing company combination like we are...a unique entity...you get the best of both worlds....
Sound knowledgeable printing capabilities, and brilliant designs created "just for you" and "you alone" for your wedding.
How this tallies out depends on choices of cardstock and the details you require in terms of budget. By planning ahead with us, and ahead of the deadlines for needing these items, you get to make the most use of your creativity, and put your own personaliti(es) in the mix for the end result.
We look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions, please do NOT hestitate to contact us directly.

The "Proofs" Are in the PDF files we provide
One of our greatest delights is in providing proofs of your wedding invitations, maps, programs, menus, table cards, and other printed items.
Proofs allow you to know that you know that you know you love the font, and the layout.
Our camera ready graphic artist, Rebecca Hutchison, has the gift of providing specialty typographical layouts to invitations in our album collections from our outside suppliers right up to providing proofs on custom invitations.
We provide "more than custom invitations". It is possible to purchase from a large variety of beautiful traditional invitations with a wide range of pricing available to you.
We work with you to help meet your budget and meet your goals.
Our graphic designer will be adding a sample proof selection to our photogallery for your perusal.
Enjoy! And, when you work with us, yours will be provided in your email, and to parents located anywhere.
Please read proofs from left to right, and right to left. We also suggest starting at the bottom of the page, and reading backwards.
It is also a very good idea to have more than two sets of eyes peer at the proofs. Very often, what is not noticed because one or another is focused on content, will be caught in a typo on a name of a street, etc.
Enjoy. We insist on proofs on every single printed piece before it goes into production.
This makes the process anxiety proof.

What is a wedding planner and do I really need one?
This is the number one question asked from brides from all over the world.
Not that long ago, wedding consultants were thought of as a luxury to be used mainly by the elite, but in todayメs world, over sixty percent of couples use the services of a wedding consultant, commonly referred to a モwedding coordinatorヤ or モwedding plannerヤ and the numbers steadily grow.
So what is a wedding planner? She/he is a specialist that plans weddings or assists in the planning of weddings on a professional basis. Wedding consultants have vast knowledge of the products, services, and vendors available in the area and can recommend those which are a perfect match for the couple's "vision" and style, saving them endless research time and opening up a world of possibilities. Often they can suggest unique or hard to find services or products which are perfect for the couple, but which the couple would have been very unlikely to find on their own. The coordinator can be involved to any extent the bride desires - as much or as little as is required.
A consultant does not take over the planning of your wedding for you (unless, of course, you want her to), but rather, she/he advises you and assists you so that you have the all the information you need for the most spectacular wedding possible on a budget you can afford, and then you make all the final decisions.
A wedding planner is a very organized and detailed person with a superb sense of style and becomes your advocate, advisor, counselor and often モnew best friendヤ all rolled in one. There are endless details to arrange, many logistics to organize, large numbers of vendors and service providers to hire, schedules, timelines (one of the most critical aspects of the day) and budgets to manage, and as a result so much room for oversights to occur and for things to go wrong.
The reality is that few couples have the level of time in their schedules required to successfully plan, manage and executive such an event effectively; unfortunately, however, many couples donメt realize or acknowledge this until it is too late when parts of their wedding dream has already disintegrated into disappointment.
In recent surveys, 72% of married brides who did not use a wedding coordinator for their weddings said that based on their experience, if they could do it all over again they would indeed hire a wedding coordinator to assist in the planning process, or at least be on hand to supervise the wedding day itself.
Most consultants offer couples a free initial consultation so the bride and groom can learn how the consultant can make their wedding better, and then decide whether hiring a consultant is right for them. Sitting down with a wedding planner for a free consultation is the best way to learn of the many benefits to be had in using his or her services and to learn a little about each other, and determine what your specific needs are.
Couples can choose from a wide range of service levels, with the wedding consultant doing as much, or as little, as the couple would like. A bride and groom may choose to hire a wedding consultant simply for one 'planning power session' to get their wedding plans off to an amazing start; or they may hire the consultant to oversee the planning from start to finish. As yet another option, there is an increasing number of requests from couples opting at the very least to use the services of a wedding coordinator just on the wedding day itself, so that nothing is left to chance.
With all of the costs involved in producing a wedding in the first place, the fee for on site services of a coordinator on the big day is a small price to pay to ensure that, when the crunch comes down, everything unfolds as it should, just as you planned.
After all, you only get one shot at the biggest day of your life. Only one chance to make it amazing... why take the risk?

Those Cheap & Non Proffesional So Call Companies
Shopping for the right DJ - Education 101
Please read this very important information if you are hiring a DJ for your next event. This very valuable information will help you to make the right choice for entertainment at your next event.
Beware of モSo Called Professional Companiesヤ with $350.00 and under packages. They claim they have so many years experience when in fact they just are starting off and have very little or no experience. Or they claim they have 20+ years experience which may be true but they are not the DJ. The owners or managers may have 20+ Years in the business but they are not the oneメs showing up to your event playing your music.
Cheap Competition
Poor Quality Speakers ラ Most モSo Called Professional Companiesヤ who offer these $350.00 and under packages will use poor quality speakers or even bring their home stereo speakers to your event! They simply cannot afford to buy high-end or good quality speakers.
Versatile Sound
We use only top of the line speakers for the best sound quality. Versatile Sound never compromises with sound quality! Digital clear sound is what we provide using JBL & Yorkville Speakers.
Cheap Competition
They do not use speaker stands and put the speakers on chairs or even the ground.
Disadvantages ラ There wonメt be any proper sound for your guests because the sound will be directed right below their heads when dancing which means very poor sound quality. Also placing speakers on the ground or on chairs looks very tacky for events especially weddings.
Versatile Sound
We always use speaker stands for two reasons:
Good, proper height for good projection of sound.
Looks very nice and professional.
Cheap Competition
They do not use any type of light stands. They place the lights on the tables.
Disadvantages ラ People who will be dancing on the dance floor will be blinded by the light because of the light pointing from the bottom up. Again, this is very tacky looking for events especially weddings.
Versatile Sound
We always use light stands again for two reasons:
The lighting needs to at the proper height to get a nice light projection on the dance floor.
Also because it looks very professional and clean.
Cheap Competition
Fake DJメs - モSo Called DJメsヤ who just play a mix music CD, is not in fact a DJ. Most of those モSo Called DJメsヤ will claim they have so many years experience or they claim they have been spinning in clubs. More then likely that will be false. We have seen $350.00 and under companies play music that they recorded straight from the radio because they cannot afford to buy the latest music. We have also seen the same モSo Called DJメsヤ play someone elseメs mix CD that someone else had mixed and they stand there making like they are mixing the music.
Disadvantages ラ They will not be able to take requested music from your guests because their music is already preprogrammed with music that someone else mixed for them. Also, they will not be able to play the proper music for the proper crowds.
Versatile Sound
We have three qualified DJメs. First off, our DJメs not only have over 10 years of experience, but all of our DJメs work at local radio stations and do local club nights during the week. Not only do they mix the music live, but they will be able to play any guest requested music and play the right music for the right type of people on the dance floor. We are not going to be playing 50メs & 60メs music for a young type of crowd, nor will we play hip hop for an elder type of crowd. Our DJメs mix the right music for the right crowds. Now thatメs Professional at its best! You are paying us to entertain your crowd and thatメs exactly what we do! Thatメs where the experience comes into play and the Cheap Competition simply cannot do this.
Conclusion
Now that you have read some of the important details on hiring the right entertainment company, you can go out and shop for your entertainment. Donメt be afraid to ask questions when looking for a DJ. You can never ask too many questions! Please keep in mind that we are not saying that the most expensive DJ companies are the best oneメs because thatメs not true. But if you do your homework, you will find the best entertainment company within a reasonable budget.

If you have any questions, comments or answers to my questions then send me an e-mail located at the bottom of this page! Thanks
When looking for a photographer or even a company that can assist you with many needs for your wedding. What do most Brides look for? Amongst extensive research I have read that there is a fine line between price, quantity, experience, and quality.
There are many companies out there, and individuals who are self proclaimed photographers. Some show up to your wedding looking uninvited, interrupting ceremonies, rudeness and so forth.
1.When it comes to the price, I've read and seen that many choose which ever is highest because we as a society have somehow correlated high price with high quality. This is somewhat true with machinery, but people work a different way. At some point and time, there needs to be a break in the market where a company features budget friendly packages. "Why cant I get my pictures again? What?! I just paid for you to take the photos?". DONT FALL INTO THIS TRAP. If youメre working with a high priced photographer or a budget photographer, TAKE THE CONTRACT AND HAVE YOUR ATTORNEY, OR YOUR SMARTEST BESTEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD AND READ IT! Contracts are made to make little people feel extra dumb, especially when it comes to the technicalities with photography and what can be charged and what cant.
2. Quantity was a little higher because so many photography companies tend to charge you for your special day, even after you made your final installment. I suggest digital photography because its faster, and you get so much more for what you are truly paying for. Doesnメt it make sense? Todayメs technology allows us to upload digital photos online, print them out at home. Hey its not pro quality but Rite Aide can do the same as well. Check for multiple options. yea yea, everyone has based prices but there are ways to get what you really want without having to sacrifice price for quantity of YOURSELF!
3. Experience. This is a tricky one for me because who determines who is more experienced or not? Yea you worked in photography this and photography that for the last 20 years, but when was the last time you sat back and learned a new secret to photography? There is a bitty thing about the human race, we follow the pack and never know when to take the lead. I may not have taken "professional photos" for the past 20 years seriously but my competitive spirit doesnメt let those experienced guys appear better than what I have to offer. Traveling overseas, playing professional basketball, visiting every state of U.S.A and too many cities to name, ALL FOR FREE, and have the photos to back them up, I guess you can say I have been a pro for years! lol No seriously, itメs how the person carries them and how they deliver. Its hard to trust someone new, young and fresh, but imagine the capabilities they may have to offer that NO ONE ELSE IS!
4. Finally, Quality. This word makes be not buy products sometimes, just because itメs become so desensitized because everyone is using it. We use quality this, quality that. Well here I am an American, I feel everything in this great country has some quality, but its it truly the best? Not really. See quality ties into the word Price. Everywhere you look, someone that is pitching quality is slamming a hefty price to that tag. Why not genuine. how about unique, whatメs wrong with fresh? We stick to words and think of nothing else. I like to call my self genuinely unique. I truly believe the skills that I obtain naturally are priceless, and Iメm a giving sharing person. I enjoy taking " Quality" Photos but I cant live without the creative, unique and GENUINE look and feel I give to my photos.
Well Iメm sure your way to confused to think about anything else, but remember this one thing. Have it your way! If youメre trapped into one thing, canメt change another, then what are you truly paying for? To be slaved under someoneメs vision of how your wedding should be.
Just think about it... And thanks for checking out my blog...

Long Term Preservation of your Wedding Photography
Keeping your Wedding photos absolutely in pristine condition for centuries is possible with digital photography. If you are interested in long term preservation let us know and we will email instructions on how to do it. This makes it possible to pass family history down for generations to come. The same technique can be used with DVDメs if you have Videography of your wedding day. Prints look great for many years but will fade in about a generation. With digital you can make new prints fifty years later that will look brand new, or your descendants can print them centuries later and they will still look brand new.

More Than Just Wedding Day Beauty
Hey, beautiful Brides-To-Be! Just a quick line to let you know that there is more to booking a great makeup artist/ hair stylist than just wedding day beauty. You want a wedding professional who is experienced with wedding timeframes, circumstances and deadlines. Someone who will work well and cooperate with your photographer and event coordinator. And someone who will make the morning-of a stress free and enjoyable time leading up to the most precious moment of your life! You also want on-location services and available assistants. No one wants to race to a salon along with 8 bridesmaids before their wedding, then race to the hotel to get dressed and then dash to the altar, exhausted! Hire a professional stylist who comes to your location and "handles" your beauty needs, someone who pampers you and takes the worry off of you. All you and your wedding party should have to worry about is what time you are to get in the chair and what color lipstick you should bring to touch up with! The rest is up to us!
May all your other wedding plans go so smoothly!

Latest Edition of Bridal Guide
We subscribe to Brides and Bridal Guide, along with a host of other magazines and catalogs designed to help couples plan their perfect wedding. In the latest edition of Bridal Guide two advertisements caught my eye. First, I noticed that David's Bridal is now offering invitations. I checked out their selection and was delighted to see that many of the invitations they offer are also invitations we offer in our custom invitation collections. Second, I noticed an ad for a water company that offers custom labels for bottled water. That's a service we also provide.
Any of you who watch Oprah even occasionally have no doubt heard her lament about how so often brides focus way too much time, energy and money on planning the perfect wedding, and far too little time and energy on planning the perfect marriage. I tend to agree with Oprah, but I wonder how women planning their weddings in 2006 feel about it. I'd love to hear from some of you about what you envision for your marriage, your life after the wedding and honeymoon.

In need of some extra money?
Weddings today can be expensive, especially if you want to make it the wedding of your dreams. Passion Parties offers women the opportunity to make some good money while working part time. We are currently running our "Feet On The Street" Special from now until the end of June. Through this special, you can start your business with an investment as small as $100.00. I normally make anywhere from $200 to $500 profit per party I do. That's making about $50 - $125 per hour, and to me, that's good money. Of course each consultant is different, but if you could use the extra $200 a month by working 1 night a week, maybe this could be an option for you. If your interested, check out my website, or give me a call, and we discuss if this would work for you.

Great Clients...
I have the best clients. It's true. You know all the Bridezilla stuff?... I have never seen it. Why? Well, I think it's a combination of things. I listen... it's important that the couple feels like their vendors are aware of their concerns. I also believe that there is nothing that can't be handled if communication is there. Contacting my clients in a timely manner, keeping my word about delievery of proofs, basically doing what I say I will do is as important to me as taking great photos.
Saturday night the groom took my hand while I was taking photos on the dance floor and gave me a spin around the floor, the Bride was ever helpful in making sure that I had what I needed before the day began. We had a wonderful time. Great people, Great day...I can't thank them enough for making it such a wonderful night.

Custom Programs, Menus, Table No. Cards, Seating Cards
Saturday, a week ago, we met with a client who needed 300 programs, foil stamped, and insert sheets, ribbons purchased, tied, two tent fold over menu layered double layered with two colors of cardstock for each of 35 tables, table number cards, and double layered calligraphies placecards. The menus are also being ribboned with bows. WHEW! And, we got two and a half weeks to get the job done.
Is it possible? Yes, and we went right to work on it. The work is higher end, and over the top, and because the bride had completed the texts, this was the beginning of a design by piece by piece till we fine tuned it creation.
Is it possible to do something like this on imported stock that is among the highest priced in the business on the cheap. Of course, not.
When you want the best, you may purchase it, and the price pretty much comes with lots of time put in by our design and production and planning teams, and our diplomatic owner and marketing chief.
You see. Almost nothing is IMPOSSIBLE when there is a given plan.
The bride had seen another bride's wedding invitations, and knew that we could provide what she wanted because we had very highly pleased a friend of hers.
These items can be created in matching stocks so that gives the entire ceremony and reception items a cohesive look.
We are having so much fun with this, and making one very happy bride delighted with the results.
All items will be shipped by UPS overnight or two day air express to another destination. More on shipping and how we execute these items later.

How Does the DJ Affect the Reception
One of the questions that I am often asked is " how does the disc jockey affect the wedding reception?"
Well, it is important to note that the people who are attending the reception are expecting certain "events" to occur. Among these are the first dance, the cutting of the cake and the garter toss. Many who attend the reception are waiting for these events to be conducted so that they can bid you a pleasant "good-bye" and get on their way.
The DC/MC is important because it is really his/her job to make sure that the events are conducted in a timely and fun manner.

Put fun into planning your wedding.
Dear Brides, As a Life Coach I support individuals in creating their ideal life. Here is an activity you can do that will bring the power of creativity and visualization into the process of planning and creating your wedding.
Create a collage, I call it a Treasure Map, of your ideal wedding experience. Collect images and words from magazines or brochures that reflect the 'essence' of the wedding you want to create. Some examples: pictures/words that evoke joy, or reverence, or celebration; pictures/words of scenery that reflect the locale of your wedding ceremony or honeymoom; pictures/words of the the seaons for your wedding; pictures/words that reflect the style of your wedding. Make this Treasure Map as big or small, as simple or complex as you like. Display the Treasure Map where you will see it everyday. Allow it to inspire you.
I create a Treasure Map every year reflecting my goals, themes, and dreams I have set out for myself. I am always amazed at how many of my goals AND dreams get accomplished.
Best wishes on creating the wedding of your dreams. Cathy Rivers, Certified Professional Coach and Independent Associate for Isagenix

its all about Energy...
This weekend was wonderful... had three weddings and each one of them so different. Oh there are many things the same, there are flowers, beautiful gowns and of course cake, but what sets them all apart from each other is energy.
One wedding was small, with an emphasis on their connection to their church. The next was larger, in a romantic setting and there was an intimate quiet to the day. The last wedding was the largest of the three, with a focus on the total joy of friends and family being together.
When photographing such diverse weddings it is so important that I am sensitive to the feel of the couple. In creating their photos I never push, I do not want them to feel manipulated into poses and expressions that are not authentic. I believe in guiding them to the right moment. To set up trust and let them know that their well being is as important to me as getting the right moment. If a couple gets tired I want them to take a break, yes I know every thing is on a tight deadline (and I have not missed one!), but if you are tired it shows, and this is your wedding day. To enjoy each moment is what it is all about.
So what is your energy? Will it be romantic; will you wear your heart on your sleeve? Will you be shyer, maybe a little quiet? Will your energy be big, boisterous with unabashed emotion? Whatever your emotion... let it show... and have fun. You do that and I promise you, your photos will sing.

preservation care for the summer
Hi everyone, Susan from Lasting Keepsakes in Las Vegas, NV!! Its summer time and I thought that I would give you some good tips on how to take care of your bouquet when the heat rises!!
Here in Las Vegas it gets HOT so we make sure our brides take some precautions to keep their bouquet looking 100%.
1. If you want to preserve your bouquet, try to make arrangements before your big day. That way, we can be at your reception or there when you are ready to set your bouquet down.
2. Have a vase with some water handy to put your bouquet in to keep it as hydrated as possible during the reception.
3. If by chance you will not be getting your bouquet preserved right away and are taking it home, make sure you do two things. If you have a cascade or flowers in oasis(that is the foam that the flowers are in)give it some water, then put it in your fridge *but not too cold*. If your bouquet is a handheld bouquet-cut off the end of stems-put them in a vase with water and put them in the fridge*not too cold*.Call us right away and we will be there to pick up free of charge. Have fun this summer!
Cheers from Vegas!

Design Staff meetings; When I meet with a client
I always start with an interview. In five minutes, you know it there is going to be good collaboration. Having been in this business for 12 years with Lilley Printing, and doing my private work, I know that when a client meets with me, it is because of my and our reputation.
The first meeting is about seeing if the trust is there. I tell the client, "we are going to make this fun."
There are things I am going to need to know about you, your personality, your concepts, and if you are not sure about what it is you want, what I am going to do, is make this all about you and everything YOU LIKE. And, I will lead you in the path of discovering you in print as I get to know you.
Remember, fun, it is love thing. I love seeing it come together for you.
Remember, we are going to get this right. And, FUN. We are not looking for a cure for a health issue, this is something that "man" created, and we are going to create together.
The biggest mistake I see people making when doing their invitations themselves is not getting the typesetting and printing done well. That is why I am happy to do this with Lilley Printing to make it happen your way. And, then assembly. Professional assembly training services are part of what I offer to you so you can save that budget for other items.
Whether you use that budget toward a custom program or other items, like menus and seating cards, or table tent cards, the plan is to use every design dollar to fulfilling your dreams.
We will be writing more about what to expect when you meet with us. We hope that this will help us get better acquainted with you and have you know and understand us.
Again, our work is about giving love to you from us in beautiful work.

DIY - WOH
Yes.....YOU CAN! do it yourself with our help!!!!!
The first step we take is to listen to your needs! The second is that we are not threatened by your desire to make these items yourselves.
Third, we will help you do it, and do it professionally!
Fourth, how would you feel if you found out that your invitations that are 'hand made" were being printed on an inkjet printer. A larger advertiser is doing that, and calling it letterpress.
This is no laughing matter! Not when an expert in printing can tell the difference.
So...NO...we don't expect you to be able to tell the difference, and maybe this does not matter to you.....flat printing looks like flat printing to you. Of course, it costs a little mroe to print with an offset press...using actual metal plates made from negatives...not the paper counterfeits.
Of course, it will take a little more time.
Our latest design is incredible and will be posted before long on our site. It is an incredible design from a formula our designer determined from reading the Da Vinci Code. Yes, our designers are that good. Each of these designs is our intellectual property alone.
She designs for us, and our advertising guru, a former executive from The Wall Street Journal, does our writing, and our product marketing manager plans with our designer to bring you the finest work in paper and ink and wording and typgraphic design we can possibly offer.
We will create "your vision" from "your personal appointment" and you can pick up the cut and printed pieces, and receive a walk through the process appointment to do it yourself.
You will save tons of money on your invitations and have fun in the process with your family and friends.
Our designer will meet with you, yourself here, and demonstrate, or for a reasonable fee make an appointment with you on location to walk your detail staff through the process several times to give you the professional results your invitations deserve.
We so look forward to sharing this experience of creating with you for your wedding.

Was that your company on TV??
This past week, Passion Parties, Inc. appeared on the national talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. Tyra Banks described how an ordinary stay-at-home mom, made extraordinary money selling romantic and sensual products at in-home parties. This was great exposure for our company!!
You may have also seen our company a few week ago, in the local MidWeek newspaper. The newspaper article did an excellent job, explaining how much fun these parties were, and how much money a consultant could possibly make.
Passion Parties is for everyone. If you are interested in having a "different" type of party, but you're worried if your conservative friends could handle a Passion Party, don't worry, they can. FROM THE WILD TO THE MILD, Passion Party has something for everyone. If you're interested, we can also do a ROMANCE ONLY Party!
Everyone is always looking for extra money. Why not make the money and have the fun that you deserve, become a Passion Parties Consultant. I'm always looking for people to join my expanding team. Why not join a company, dedicated to educating women on ways to enhance their relationships and helping women become successful with their business! For more information, visit my website @ www.passionpartiesbyjoely.com or call me at (877)250-LOVE.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Can I really plan a wedding in a month?
With today's technology, and the increasing number of wedding professionals today, the answer is yes, in fact, there are some people that fall in love with the islands and decide to get married while here on vacation.
The most difficult process is making decisions, sometimes with shorter lead times, that becomes easier because you don't keep toggling back and forth with ideas.
The most important thing to remember is that it is YOUR wedding and you make it what you want it to be, and to truly absorb and enjoy the day!

HE LEARNED ABOUT SEX FROM WHERE?
Think about itナdid anyone sit you down and explain to you about sex, what it entails and how to be good at it? You may have learned from a friend, by reading romance novels or watching a movie. If we only knew then what we know nowナ
So where did he learn about sex from? Porn and his 13 year old buddy (who also watched porn). Iメm not saying itメs a bad thing, but thatメs what he learned ヨ genital-based pleasure. Porn focuses on the genitals, ignoring others erogenous areas like your neck and behind your knees. And letメs be honest ヨ when was the last time he dove in and you had an organism on the spot? If that were the case, Iメd be out of business.
For your wedding night, take the lead and plan something special. Focus on other parts of your bodies ヨ massaging the skin is a great way of communicating through touch. Need some help, give me a call! In the meantime, be patient! Heメs only doing what he knows, but he is all ears for your suggestionsナhe can only pleasure you if you tell him what to do!
Ladies ヨ if your partner is a female, consider yourself fortunate since women usually know what other women want!!!

Kick it up a notch with the invitation docs!
Have you purchased invitations and wish you had chosen a liner for your envelopes? Did you decide you need a map and direction/accommodation card? And, now that you have them in your hands, does that calligraphy pen set you bought seem to want to do its own thing in your right hand?
Well, we can make it all better. First off, we will design a liner with your personal logo or monogram or personalized names and a motif if you like or use a symbol of something dear to your relationship.
Secondly, if you require a map, we can design a beautiful map to match the ensemble's paper you have in hand, and most probably match the font and color of ink as well on the map if you require it.
Thirdly, to customize the envelopes and save you valuable time, we will address your invitation envelopes for you?
And, while the addressing is going on, we will print your maps.
When you pick them up, they are ready for mailing, and if you desire, you may have us stuff them, and stamp them, and you may pick them up ready to go, with the extras all boxed for anyone whom you may wish to add to your list.
How great is that! You get a customized look to formal wear house invites or mail order printing and you have less work to do.
Additionally, if these steps are done, you may wish to select from our ceremony and reception items from Beverly Clark and think about a custom program.
Take a look at our photogallery to see new designs as well as samples of maps and wedding programs we have designed!
Let's keep it fun even if looking at these boxes of printed stock that are not quite ready to go out in the mail.
Just make an appointment, and bring your printed matter to us, or a sample so that we can begin the process.
Etiquette guidelines are provided for your convenience and ease in getting these tasks completed by our calligrapher as soon as possible.
Rush orders require an extra fee.
Call us today for any assistance you may need to top off your invitations with finishing touches by us.

Body Balance Photos tomorrow
Wonderful things are still happening to me on the Kenzen Body Balance program. I just measured today & totalled the inches lost, from bust, waist, hips, thigh, & calfs --- 10.5" in 5 weeks. Amazing, I know, but you will see from the photos I will upload in the morning (if I can be computer smart). Wednesday, May 3rd at The Bridal Clearance Center will be another Body Balance party, 7:30 pm, stop by & taste the shakes & energy drink, Rev Up. Bunches of energy from that drink & tastes good to.

Is planning your honeymoon making you crazy?
Have you even thought about planning your honeymoon? Where to go, what to do, how to pay for it and all with the other stress of planning your wedding. ACK! As a person who honeymooned with no pre-made reservations and ended up spending my wedding night IN THE CAR because all the hotels in Washington were full in beautiful late July, I can definitely sympathize. One of the coolest things we give out at Bridal Shows is a Honeymoon Planning Guide that has a timeline to help you decide where to go, get your reservations made and then be packed and ready without last minute stress on the Big Day. We also have a bridal registry service to let your guests help you pay for it once you've decided where you want to go. If you'd like us to send you one of our Honeymoon Planning Guides, just hit our website and shoot us an e-mail. The website is www.travelcenter4u.com and from there you can get an e-mail contact for whichever of our 8 branches is closest to you.

I have a blog!?
Wow, I guess the current trends are really spreading fast on the internet!
So I'll add my 2 cents about how I think my images work for my couples.
"Wear your smile" ヨ When you are getting dressed to go out you know what looks good on you and you look in the mirror to make sure. You can do the same for your smile! If you donメt like your smile take some time to check it out in the mirror like you do when you are getting dressed!
I work with many first time models, coaching guys and girls a like on how to be in front of a camera. This is exactly what I tell them to help teach them get better headshots. When either couples of models ask me how to give better smiles this is what I always tell them.
The best smiles come from laughter so laugh at your self in the mirror and few times and see what you like. Have someone make you laugh if it helps or make it a fun thing to do with your wedding party! Nothing like a bunch of grown people making faces and laughing in front of a small mirror! If anything it should be fun! Eventually you will find something you and or your posse likes and the more you practice it the more you will remember how your face feels.
And remember folks, I'm also a member! lol I know this works because being the kind of picky person I am about things I hated my first senior portraits in high school. The next day I made an appointment with a photographer I liked and practiced for 2 hours the night before (I'm a bit excessive sometimes, so I don't know if you need a whole 2 hour. What can I say, I love alone but shop at Costco) and had great results the second time around!
Iメll write more when I get a chance, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions, aloha everyone!

Can't my Cousin be my DJ?
I often get asked questions like "why should I pay for a professional disc jockey when my cousin/freind/brother is an aspiring DJ?" "He can do the job for half the cost!"
To this I say, you are spending a great deal of money trying to make everything PERFECT on YOUR DAY? Why ruin the whole thing by scrimping on the entertainment for the reception. There really is a professional skill involved in getting the whole crowd at the recption involved in the party!
A non professional DJ will only play the music he/she knows which could be exclusively hard core rap music! Don't be penny wise and sorry!

Stationery Accompaniments
Happy the month of May!
Today, we would love to tell you about how we love doing what we do.....
We regularly help brides DIY....or our words...design it yourself, and then DIY....woh (with our help.
So, now that your invitations are in the mail, what's next?????
....well, on our redesigned website that is about to be launched with more than 50 pages coming up, you will see a wonderful section on these other items, and more information on wedding accessories for the ceremony and reception from the Beverly Clark collection alone.
We will feature regular tips on wedding favor boxes that you can make your own, or we will custom design for you.....so...now, more on accompaniments.
We are covering wedding programs on its own page on our redesigned site......with we promise almost everything you need to know, and more info to help you with your wedding plans and even how to deal with the stress factors of wedding planning.
So...PROGRAMS. May be designed with cardstock from your wedding invitations and they may also use colors from your bridesmaids dresses, etc. and thus become part of the decorations as well as provide the order of service for your ceremony.
THen, we go ahead with place cards and seating cards, and here we recommend the same color stock.....or cards for pewter chair holders or other frames, etc. We also recommend for regular cards, oversize and calligraphy addresing these on both sides so that guests at a table who do NOT know one another, can easily learn the names and then, pick up their relationship to you both.
TABLE TENT CARDS: Can be names of places or events important to a couple, and are printed on both sides so that guests around the table can see their table number or theme associated with their seating card
MENUS:
Can be any size with the same or co-ordinating cardstock or layers of paper and ribbons in an oversize menu, and are usually placed on each plate.
Guest Itineraries:
Are usually done for each day of events, and a map is included...say, on the back of one, for each event and location. We often ship these to the florist for gift baskets for each guest's room to be put in their hotel rooms.
This is only a portion of the information available to you for paper needs besides invitations and maps.
Please feel free to write to Mrs. L. at judy@lilleyprinting.com for any questions on these or other items you may require.
When we can purchase a larger amount of cardstock and interestingly personalize each item required in your invitation or favorite other fonts, we have made a color co-ordinated information oriented organizational plan for the needs for your guests on your wedding day.....
One more item we have designed:
Complimentary Valet Parking Tickets
when parking is paid for in the price of each guest's meal. Include them when mailing your invitations, AND, print extras for a basket at the reception for guests who left theirs at home.
