How to pick your honeymoon?

Planning a wedding is hard enough let alone trying to figure out where to go for your honeymoon. It's even harder to figure out how to pay for it!

Simple things to keep in mind while planning your honeymoon!

My number one suggestion is narrow down where to go based off of location, location, location! Why is this important? Weather! We were very fortunate this year that weather didn't have as many draw backs as they did in 2005. In 2007 it will be hard to say what Mother Nature will have in store for us, but keep in mind of hurricane season is from June 1 thru November 30th,and most tropical places are HOT and HUMID!

Second, try to figure out your time frame of how long you are able to travel. If you don't like to fly make sure pick a place that doesn't have 3 connections and it turns out to be a whole day of traveling. If you live on the West Coast the Caribbean can be a lengthy flight and if you live on the East Coast, Hawaii can be even longer. Traveling to Fiji or to Europe make sure to add one whole day of traveling to your schedule.

Now that you have an idea of where and for how long you need to figure out if the location is an all inclusive resort or a la carte. What's the difference? All Inclusive includes all your food and most beverages(premium liquors) are not always included, tip and taxes. Most Caribbean Island have all inclusive properties and some even offer both types of food plans. Make sure you know if you have paid for all inclusive or not. Hawaii does not have all inclusive. Most restaurants in the hotels are expensive, but there are plenty of alternatives, but pricing is higher.

Also think about if you want to stay at an adult only location. This can be important if you are traveling in the summer months when kids are out of school.

So now you know where, how long, and if you need to budget for food or not. Now you can decide on budget. The average honeymoon is between $2,000 and $4,000 dollars for 5-7 nights depending on hotel accomodation and time of year of travel.

After knowing your budget, location, and time frame place your deposit on your booking. Most honeymoon packages do not need full payment until 60 days prior departure if you book in a reasonable amount of time ahead. Making payments over time makes your dream honeymoon more affordable and less stressful!

Booking a honeymoon with a travel agency versus booking it yourself has many advantages. For example, most packages include air, hotel transfers, hotel accomodations, and insurance. If something goes wrong your agent can help you or has provided you with contact information for you contact someone in case of an emergency.

Once you have your honeymoon chosen and your deposit placed register for a honeymoon registry. You can link to one through my website www.laurie.allabouthoneymoons.com or you can click directly to www.honeymoonwishes.com. This is a great way to have friends and family contribute money to your honeymoon and be less stress on your wallet.

Last but not least make sure to get your travel documentation. The world is changing and Passports are required so visit your local post office and apply for your passport today if you are traveling anywhere outside the United States. You will need your birth certificates to apply for one so if you don't have one you will need to order one which can take some time. Make sure to plan accordinally. Brides you will have to get one with your maiden name on it and then will have it changed after you are married!

Hopefully, this guideline has provided some helpful decision making thoughts. Please feel free to contact me to figure out what honeymoon would work best for your location, time frame, and budget!

How much is too much?

Following your wedding day dream can lead you into some serious debts. First, find out if spending thousands of dollars is the right thing to do for the both of you.

If your total wedding expense is on your parents nickel then they set the budget ヨ and will do so accordingly. If the two of you are financing the wedding together, with some help or none, avoid using the credit cards.

So, how much is too much? By figuring how long - years it will take you to pay off your wedding debts. Do you and your fianc← want to spend your two-year anniversary dinner discussing what yet to pay off? Imagine what that would be like.

Make painless comprises and you will have and get your wedding day dream!

Passport Update!!!

In a recent Travel Agent Alert E-mail please read the following!

Nearly all U.S. Air Travelers Will Need Passports by Jan. 23

Nov 27, 2006
Travel Agent

According to The Associated Press, nearly all air travelers entering the U.S. will be required to show passports beginning Jan. 23, including returning Americans and people from Canada and other nations in the Western Hemisphere. The date was recently disclosed by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff in an interview with The Associated Press. Until now, the department had not set a specific date for instituting the passport requirement for air travelers, though the start had been expected to be around the beginning of the year. Setting the date on Jan. 23 pushes the start past the holiday season. (JP)

Left over turkey

Got any? I didn't. Thats the down side of going to visit relatives outta state. I think I love the left overs more than the fancy layout meal.

I spose I could cook a turkey here at home...but...nahhhhh. I'll just gripe about how I am blessed with a wonderful family, incredibly fulfilling profession, and a couple a great kids to keep me sane.

YES, I AM SANE!

The drive was "iffy" with traction tires recomended. Just what us four wheel drive guys love. The opportunity to show the world of BMW, MB, & Lexus owners how tough we are. Like Tim the tool man Taylor of the mushy road of the Pacific Northwest.

Enough of holiday travels.

I'm booking up, gimme a CALL, FAST!

I think I've found a better DVD Show company here in the PNW instead of Hong Kong. Wait til you see these...brings tears to the eye...yup. Beautiful pictures of you to music on DVD along with your flush mount album, tough to beat!

See then at the show in January. Come by our booth, get your super gift or prize.

NOBODY goes away without a gift, AND a chance to win a prize ALL of ya want. Come by!

Tahiti and South Pacific Honeymoons

On my most recent trip to the South Pacific I visited six of the Tahitian islands including Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Manihi, Tikehau and Tahaメa. Although it was a working trip for Tahiti Specialists, I was thoroughly spoiled with luxury accommodations at some of the most popular resorts, gourmet dining, warm tropical weather and a bit of free time (too little of course) to enjoy the fabulous snorkeling, beautiful beaches, turquoise water and sunset evenings.

I have lots of resort information and pictures to share so Iメll add to Our Blog as time permits. But since itメs almost time for the Bellevue and Lynnwood wedding shows, I thought I'd start with Tahiti - the perfect honeymoon destination!

Many couples choose the summer months for their wedding and honeymoon, so what should you expect? Perfection! May through October are the driest months in the South Pacific with air and water temperatures usually in the 80's. April and November are lovely with just a bit more rain and December through March are the warm, wet months. That's when you'll find the lowest prices in paradise.

Island activities center around the beach, pool and turquoise water and you can enjoy every sport and pastime offered near, in, under and on the water. Adventurous types can scuba dive, sail, kayak, moped or bike around the island, head out for a motu picnic or try a shark & ray feeding excursion. More leisurely options include hammocks, fabulous Polynesian spa treatments and relaxing on a pristine beach.

Honeymoon evenings often begin with a spectacular sunset followed by gourmet, open air dining under the stars. After a leisurely dinner perhaps you'll enjoy music and dancing, a romantic beach walk or just more private time together.... Tahiti really is the perfect honeymoon destination!

In my next post I'll talk about the wonderful resorts like Le Taha'a Private Island and Spa, Bora Bora Lagoon Resort, the Pearl Resorts, the Intercontinental Resorts and more. In the interim please call if I can help with your travel plans and mark your calendar for our Tahiti night in February. Hope to see you at the January wedding shows!

Tips for Wedding Planning during the Holidays

Aloha!

With the Christmas holidays just around the corner, I'd like to share a few tips for your wedding planning:

1) Many of you may be coming to Hawaii to work on your wedding planning details or to do site inspections as you start the process. Please keep in mind that this is a very busy time of year, especially for the caterers due to Christmas parties and New Year's Eve festivities so please be sure to set up an appointment in advance to ensure you are able to see the facilities and that they have allocated time for you.

I share this advice after working many years in the hotel industry and having clients show up unexpectantly only to be disappointed because the ballroom was not available for viewing and/or the staff's schedule was completely booked for the day.

2) If you're in the beginning stages of your wedding planning there is a great new Special Event Card which is being sold by the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) which features a variety of specials (including 15% off videography packages, 10% off coordination services, 10% off at the Willows Restaurant, etc. (offers range from $50 to $500 in savings) For a complete list of current offerings see http://www.nacehawaii.com/special_event_card.html (it would also make a great Christmas gift for a friend who may be getting married!)

3) The holidays can be both a joyful and stressful time for everyone (not just brides). Keep the following in mind:

a) Take care of yourself,

b) Take control of your time and limit your commitments

c) Embrace your family and friends.

Wishing you all the best this holiday season.

Honeymoon in the South Pacific

Many brides have visions on spending their honeymoon in Bora Bora or in Fiji in an over the water bungalow. The South Pacific can be challenging to book on your own as there is more then just the flight and the accomodations. I work with a travel supplier who has excellent travel packages and HONEYMOON SPECIALS to choose from and not to mention a honeymoon registry. So if you are interested in going to Fiji, Tahiti, Cook Islands, or even a longer trip to Australia and New Zealand check out www.journeypacific.com and let me know if I can price out any packages for your specific travel dates.

Avoid the NIGHTMARE wedding and reception with these 5 tips...

Take a few minutes to learn from my experiences and you will have a wonderful wedding day...

1. Write in the names of exactly who is invited on the invitation envelope and rsvp "M" line. You may also use on the reply "We have reserved __ seats for you." Fill in the blank for them so they know exactly the number of guests you are inviting. If they cross out that number and put their own number (likely more), call them to clarify. This is your party and they don't want dirty place settings.

2. Use the best quality paper you can afford. I recommend linen or handmade stock. Stay away from plain cardstock or paper that easily folds. These invites are too thin to last the amount of time you want it to and will not give the impression you need. People do judge the type of party with your initial impression of your invitations.

3. Order your thank yous with your invites. It may seem premature, but you will save time and for your procrastinators, this is a must! Remember to let them know the names you want on the envelopes if you have changed them or not.

4. Delegate, delegate, delegate. Delegate everything! No one really knows what you need help with and they are eager to help with this exciting event. If you don't have a wedding coordinator, you will have to have a hard working matron/maid of honor and bridesmaids. Choose carefully.

5. Spend as much as you can on a photographer. Some of you are blessed with talented friends, most are not. Interview, visit their studio, make an appointment with several months before your special day. You will never forgive yourself for bad photos. Trust me!

There is no such thing as a small wedding. I'm sorry. I hear brides tell me they want to be as simple as possible, blah, blah, blah. Don't be fooled! Your wedding is not a simple event and its probably the most expensive and complex event you will ever have. Take advantage of the professionals around you. Ask as many questions as you can and you will benefit from our wealth of experience.

The Perfect Invitation

The perfect invitation matches your theme, uses correct etiquette, and is pleasing to the eye. This is where a professional stationer or graphic designer steps in. You may have the confidence and experience to do it yourself but it is always less stressful when you have one less thing to deal with.

Be careful not to wait until the last minute to do invitations. You will increase your cost if a rush order is necessary and may have costly mistakes. It is safe to order invitations 2-3 weeks before your send out date which should be 4-8 weeks before your event. In case of weddings, you want as much lead time as possible and may want to have your details set at least 2-3 months ahead of the date. Time flies quickly for such important events.

Always make sure to have the necessary information before shopping for invitations: Honored person(s) preferred written names, date, place, time, wording, rsvp date, invitation and rsvp address, and information for rsvp. The quantity of information matters in selecting the size of your invite and type of invitation. Remember, good stock means a good party. You should choose the paper quality according to the kind of event you are having and they way you want your guests to dress. The most formal style is a thicker handmade paper with engraved text and designs (no photos.) The least formal may have pictures and is on a glossy style paper. Your stationer should be able to advise you properly on paper selection etiquette.

If you are submitting photos, choose ones that are clear, sharp, even contrasted and complimentary background. Professional photos are best but require the permission of the photographer. If you are able to submit digital pictures, that is the easiest for the graphic designer to deal with. The same rules (clear, sharp, etc.) apply to digital as to printed pictures.

Accessories are thank you notes, inserts, menus, programs, favor cards, place cards, table tents, favors, guest books, etc. The most important of these accessories are thank yous. We overlook the quality of the thank you and tend to think a cheap store bought thank you is sufficient. The idea is that your guests feel thanked before they even open your card. A beautiful thank you (custom or not) is warming to the heart and will promote a great guest turnout at the next event. The perfect thank you is handwritten, addresses the person(s) by name, and is three to four sentences long. You may cheat and have others handwrite them for you, however, make sure you included a sentence about their gift and thoughful attendence to your event.

Thanksgiving - are you ready?

What would your Thanksgiving be like as newlyweds? Would you serve your dinner on paper plates, borrowed bowls and platters?

Imagine having the family and in-laws over for Thanksgiving as husband and wife in your new house with nothing to serve with. Save yourself money, a few trips, and stress and ask for Thanksgiving serving dishes in your wedding gift registry. These are the most forgotten gifts to ask for.

Ask for the Fab Platters!

Here are some necessities you must have to serve your dinner.

ᄋ Tureen
ᄋ Serving bowls
ᄋ Covered vegetable bowls
ᄋ Gravy boat
ᄋ Meat platter
ᄋ Bread tray or basket
ᄋ Salt and pepper shakers
ᄋ Dipping dishes
ᄋ Cake stand
ᄋ Creamer and sugar bowl

Keep in mind all your serving dishes do not have to match. Shoot for the complimentary color or design. All dishes also live a second life ヨ may it be through popcorn, dressing, or birthdays.

We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding day dreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at colleen@luminaphotography.com.

What not to do this Thanksgiving

Just some tips of the trade:

If you are deep frying a turkey, thaw it out before frying, unless you want a turkey launcher :)

Don't go over board with too many spiced dishes.

Champagne cleanses the palate, which helps seperate the tastes.

Try something different this year.

There is no such thing as too many finger foods.

Enjoy.

How to Distribute Favors...

Not sure how to distribute your wedding favors to the guests? Here are some ideas:

1. Place your token of appreciation at each place setting on each guest's napkin, on their plate, or in the space between their plate and the centerpiece. This is especially nice if the favor is attractive and can add to the aesthetic touch to the table.

2. If youメre planning a buffet, and place settings are not pre-set, you may wish to set up a table with a framed card that says "Please Take One," "Be Our Guest," or simply "Thank You" for when guests exit the reception.

3. You can instruct the waitstaff to pass the favors on silver trays before the meal or in between courses.

4. You may personally hand out a favor to each and every guest as you greet them. This may be a big undertaking -- especially if you go around and greet by table as opposed to a receiving line. This method works well when the guest list is small and the favors are lightweight!

Have a specific question about favors? Email me at info@favorsbysarah.com!

Choosing the Perfect Favor...

I love helping brides decide what kind of wedding favor is most appropriate for their wedding. Here are some of the questions I ask to get them thinking and to know what to suggest to them:

1. How many guests do you expect to attend the reception?

2. What is the wedding date/month?

3. Will the reception be indoor or outdoor? Describe the setting.

4. Will guests be encouraged to sit down during the reception? If so, will place settings be pre-set? (Not necessarily assigned, but will plates, glasses, etc. be placed ahead of time?)

5. Does your wedding have a theme?

6. Where/how did you and your fianc← meet?

7. Where do you and your fianc← work?

8. How would loved ones describe your personality and your fianceメs personality?

9. List common interests

10. Do you have a favorite shared experience?

10. Where were you and your fianc← born, and where did you both grow up?

12. What is your favor budget (in terms of price per favor. Also, do you wish to have favors pre-assembled?)

13. Where will you honeymoon?

14. Have you appreciated favors that youメve received at other weddings? Why or why not?

15. What is your favorite:

-flower
-candy
-poem or love song

16.What are you looking for in a favor? Please check all that apply:

- meaningful
- lasting
- humorous
- edible
- practical
- elegant
- original

17. Are there other words that better describe what you are looking for?

18. Do you have ideas for favor possibilities that you would like to explore? Please describe.

With these questions answered I can usually come up with 5 top favor options for a bride, and with all the decisions she's had to make so far, it's nice to have it narrowed down!

Can't find what you're looking for? I've got lots of great resources for hard-to-find favors, and I'm happy to make suggestions! For free advice, e-mail info@favorsbysarah.com.

What are you thankful for?

It is a tradition that has been around for ages. Your loved ones go around the dining room table on Thanksgiving and say what they are thankful for. In my family, this tradition only started in 2001, so that my sister and her husband could announce that they were going to have a baby. Oddly enough, we did not do this tradition again until last year so that they could announce that they were having another baby.

Now even though it is not a yearly tradition in my family, I started thinking about what brides might be thankful for this year. Are you thankful that you have found the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with? Are you thankful because you have found the wedding dress of your dreams? Maybe you are thankful that you get to feast on turkey and stuffing. Could it possibly be that you are happy to have a day away from all the planning?

Well whatever it is, enjoy the holiday with loved ones and when you are ready to get back to the planning, we would love to set up an appointment for you to see our facility.

Call for an appointment today!!!

No Hassle Way To Ensure the Perfect Reception!

Planning a wedding is a job in itself and believe it or not, planning the entertainment is just as important as the flowers and what types of food will be served at the reception. At the end of the day, people are going to remember one important thing from your wedding....How Great a Time They Had! They won't remember what they ate, what type of flowers were there, but they ALWAYS remember the "FUN FACTOR" of a reception!

That's where we come in to help save the day! We're here to take this big task off your hands and provide you with the BEST entertainment options available for YOUR BIG DAY! Whether it's a small trio, variety band, DJ or acoustic artist, we have the philosophy that "Music Makes the Event". So we only work with the best the industry has to offer at affordable prices to fit your budget. Our bands and DJ's don't demand a set dollar amount like so many other agencies out there today. We are here to make it work for both you and the entertainment so both of you get want you want and everybody wins!

My partner and I have over 30 combined years in the entertainment industry and have personally worked with thousands of Brides and wedding planners. We are here to serve you and ensure you have a great day, never having to worry about the entertaiment because you have the comfort of knowing you're getting the best! I will personally work with you one on one and go over aspect of your reception with our detailed "reception planner" which takes care of all your formalities that will be observed. Then, your entertainment leader or DJ will contact you before the reception to finalize any last minute details. After that, all you have to worry about it showing up and having the most memorable day of your life!

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Italy Day 1

I arrived in Italy a few days before my scheduled Globus tour and met up with my friend Liz who was to be my traveling partner. I was pretty wiped out the first day and really glad that I took the same advise that I give my clients at Totem Travel, and had scheduled a pre-arranged transfer to our hotel in Rome. Our driver took us on a mini tour between the airport and our hotel, pointing out some sites and making recommendations for shopping and where to get the best cappuccino close to our hotel.

After checking into our hotel we decided to wander around, check out the shopping and find something to eat, but instead stumbled across Trajanメs Market, with Trajanメs Column. All the intricate carving and relief is amazing. All I could say was WOW and Wow again! (I told Liz that my vocabulary would increase as I got more rest). But really we kept looking at each other and saying モI canメt believe weメre in Rome!ヤ

We found a little ristorante that overlooked the market and had our first bite in Rome.

After some sustenance we started walking again around Piazza Venezia and saw the huge Victor Emmanuel Monument, or The Wedding Cake as the Romans jokingly call it. The monument is in honor of the first King of Italy, yes, Victor Emmanuel. It was built in to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the unification of Italy that took place in 1870. There are 2 soldiers that stand guard over Italyメs Tomb of the Unknown Soldier while an eternal flame burns.

As we wandered along in awe we came across the Forum, Wow again! (no, still no increase in vocabulary). All kinds of historical names were coming to life in front of my eyes; Julius Caesar, Constantine, Caligula, Tiberius, St. Peter and more, all popping into my mind from long ago history classes, movies and novels that Iメve read.

At the end we walked out and right there in front of us was the Colosseum- 2000 years old and still standing! Again, the Romans built BIG and they built to last!

By now is was almost dusk so we got some great pictures and decided to wander back, grab some dinner and head to the hotel to crash.

Online Vewing of your Wedding Photography

After the wedding and honeymoon, family and friends begin to ask about seeing the photography of your wedding. With family and friends that may live great distances from you this could be difficult. You can email a few but that is very time consuming. We suggest asking your photographer to put them on line for you. Usually this if a free service and viewing them is easy and free as well. If the viewer sees something they like, a few mouse clicks will purchase a high quality photograph(s).

Hello to all Brides & Grooms to Be.

As your special day approaches, are you still searching for the entertainer that will make your Wedding Reception both memorable and enjoyable for you and your guests? May I suggest that you take a look at モGood Time Party Musicヤ. Here is just a few of the comments other Brides have made about Good Time Party Music.

Tim was EXTREMELY accomodating and handled all requests and specialty music with great patience and professionalism. My wedding was in Philadelphia, which is quite a hike from where Tim's world headquarters is located-but he made the trip without a second thought and made the wedding absolutely fabulous. Many people commented on how great the DJ was-and everyone knows that the music is what makes the reception! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ヨChristie Sweet Paige Sweet/Paige Wedding & Reception 10/28/06

You were great and we got so many compliments. Thank you for helping to make our day perfect! You were wonderful! My Grandmom canメt stop talking about the chicken dance. You made every guest happy & had a great variety in music. Meredith Lock Comi Lock/Comi Wedding & Reception 7/29/06

We received nothing but compliments on the music at our wedding. T. O. was energetic and fun, but not overbearing. He played the perfect mix of music for all ages. We would definitely reccomend him to anyone who is looking to have a great time at their event!!!

Pre Holiday stuff

I suppose you're trying to get all your ducks in a row as much as I am, travel preparations, big dinner planning. The only dinner planning I am doing is to decide which relative to go visit for dinner.

A lot of bride's use the holidays as a platform to formally announce their plans to marry the following year. Many others use the pre-holiday season to "wisely" solidify their wedding plans. Booking the hall, the photographer, the wedding planner, etc... You smart girls you. ;-)

We are not only getting ready for our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations. We're preparing for the upcoming Tacoma Dome Bridesclub.com Bridal Show.

Got a surprize for ya'll.

It's gonna be fun!

You'll have a blast at our booth.

Bigger gifts!

Pocketfold Invitations

The pocket fold invitation is an excellent invitation to use when it becomes necessary to enclose multiple items such as directions, reception card and rsvp card. The pocket allows those items to be neatly enclosed. It makes the invitation message the centerpiece of your invitaton. They are available in sizes ranging from 4x5 up to 6x9 and the very popular 5x7 can be in a landscape or portrait style. They come in a multitude of colors. All it takes is a little creativity and imagination and you can have that special invitation to go with that special day. Call or e-mail us for details on viewing these products. While these items can be seen on the internet it is best to see them in person to appreciate the differences in their color. We can meet with you at any location or time that is convenient for you.

Considerations for your wedding videographer at the reception

I've covered many weddings in my career as a videographer. I've also attended quite a few as a guest. I've watched other videographers at work, and I'd like to share a few considerations that you may not be aware of.

If your reception takes place in the evening, the lighting will likely be low. It's very common to have the lights dimmed as the dancing begins. You should ask your DJ or master of ceremonies about this in advance. If possible, it's best to wait until after your first dance, and the parent's dance for the best video quality. Ideally, the lights would be dimmed just as the rest of the wedding guests are invited to dance. Many times, I've seen the lights brought down in the middle of a key dance, or during a speech. This should definitely be avoided.

Ask your videographer about the lighting they plan to use, and ask for a demonstration if possible. They should be using a dimmable camera light. When the lights are low, it's usually necessary to have some type of additional lighting for the video camera. Some on-camera lights are extremely bright, and cannot be dimmed. A light that is dimmed just to the point of providing useful light, but not blinding you and your guests is the goal here. Ask if they use a "softbox" or other light softening accessory. This will not only produce better looking video, but will also reduce any harshness dramatically.

3 Ideas to Accent Your Table Tops...

3 Ideas to Accent Your Table Topsナ.

These 3 ideas will not only accent your table tops, but allure your guests by personalization.

Identification and reserved purposes

1. Stick bold numeric #メs on the outside of a unique style - shape of a glass (Your choice) then stuff the glass with linen or silk material of your wedding colors. You may ask your cater if they have such material for you to use. If not, you will have to supply your own accents.

Try the dollar store for these purchases. The Dollar Store contains stickers, glasses, and fabric material ヨ all what you need!

2. You will be the one to make your guest say モWowヤ by making your style though a statement by personalizing your napkin rings. The easiest way, and why not make it your table gift too!

Napkin rings can be found in any home department store, and come in many different styles.

3. Caterers can continue to add allure to your guests by the fold of a napkin. You may want to ask to see their styles. Some caterers can fold napkins into roses and other such sculptures. Also, make sure to check out their colors to match your wedding colors.

Enjoy these 3 table top accent ideas. Keep going other than the centerpieces! You will win the creativity of personalizing your tables.

We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding day dreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at colleen@luminaphotography.com.

Another Celebration

I went to the 231st Marine Corps Birthday Ball this weekend. There were over 1,000 in attendance. I have yet to shoot a wedding this large. Everyone looked beautiful and happy. The program was fantastic. There were two spouses in attendance whose husbands were deployed. They receive a standing ovation. Heroes are all around us here in Hawaii. I danced and marveled at all the fabulous fashion. It was a special occasion.

Mapping out a timeline for your invitations and wedding papers

One of the questions we get asked often is "When should I order?" And, our answer is, "as soon as you know the wedding date". The quantity, the times, etc. are easy details to work out after (1) a style (2) color(s) and (3) fonts and (4) wording are completed. Each part of what is needed to be done to complete an order requires attention, and beginning early helps a bride feel that this work is not having to be done in a rush, which makes the process more enjoyable.

Wedding invitations are not always as easy a selecting flowers or even a dress. Sometimes, it takes time for a bride to discern her vision for this important first peek at her wedding.

So, taking time with a professional wedding stationery consultant is essential to begin this process, and earlier not later is always best.

We suggest that brides mail invitations approximately 8 weeks in advance of the wedding......there are so many people with guests who need to make travel plans these days or even set up vacation days off to be with you and/or to travel that this makes planning the trip or time to be with you or part of your wedding easier for everyone.

And, it takes time to discern the total number of invitations needed. Recently, we met with a bride and groom and it has taken them 23 days since we met, or 3 weeks, to discern that they are going to need more invitationst than they thought. As they began completing the guest lists for us to address their envelopes, they realized it. Were they going through a supplier who did not address the invitations free of charge, they would NOT have known until they addressed them, that they were going to be running short of the total number required.

We suggest you catch us during this time of the year, when Saturday and weekday appointment times are more available. And, begin the process so that you know how far along in the process you will need to go to complete what you need on time, and with ease.

OUR LAST BRIDE RESPONDS TO OUR CARE AND EXPERTISE

Hey Leon!

This is Lindsey CORLEY!!! (I love writing my new last nameJ)

モI was overwhelmed by the personal attention that was given to our video. It was as if they looked for not only the big important moments, but the small intimate details as well- and that made this video something that I will cherish forever. I was so pleased with how the entire wedding was covered and nothing was left out. This enabled us to send the video to our family who were not able to be there and give them the experience of being right there with us.

The entire video was also steady and focused. Whether it was handheld, or on a stand, the quality of the shooting was spectacular! Johnson Video Productions captured not only my wedding day, but the joy, love, and commitment that the day was truly about.ヤ

Sun Safety for Your Wedding Day

Whether you are having an outdoor ceremony or taking pictures outdoors, the weather can play a big part in your day.

Donメt let a perfect sunny day be ruined by a sunburn.

Apply a sunscreen with a minimum of 15 SPF at least 20 minutes before going outside.
Spread sunscreen onto all exposed skin including your neck, feet, ears, and scalp. Your sunscreen should be reapplied every two to three hours. Test the sunscreen before the wedding day for greasiness and possible allergic reaction. Your first few days of marriage should be spent celebrating, not applying aloe.

We like to shoot many of your wedding photos in the shade. But, not because of the possibility of sunburn ヨ but because it gives us a very beautiful soft light that will highlight and enhance your images.

Please take a look at our website at: www.northwest-wedding-photos.com and also our portraits at: www.looking-glassphotos.com and youメll see what we mean about beautiful lighting.

Picture Perfect Makeup

Unless youメre an international supermodel getting your picture taken all day every day, your wedding day will probably be the most photographed day of your life. Youメll want to look your best in the photos and your makeup will play a big role.

Understated makeup works best on camera.

Classic colors like pink and peach work well for light skin tone. Copper, indigo and wine look great for dark skin tones.

Donメt forget the waterproof mascara ヨ and go easy on the eyeliner. You wonメt want the heat or your joyful tears causing raccoon eyes.

A long-wearing lipstick in a shade matching your blush will compliment your look throughout the day.

Enjoy your day in the spotlight; relaxed knowing your makeup is picture perfect.

Intimate Moment In TIme--- Your Wedding Ceremony

Step # 3---- Meeting in Person

You have moved through Step # 1 & #2. You have checked out Officiant web sites, emailed or talked on the phone, and now you are ready to set up an appointment to meet in person. Emailing or talking on the phone is an excellent way to find out if an Officiant might be a good fit for your particular wedding ceremonyナif you like what you hear then youメre ready for the next stepナナ meeting in person.

Set up a date/time/location via email or phone call. Here is a good place to see if your possible Officiant is open to joint decision making or not.

Meeting in person is a great way to ask questions which may not have occurred to you prior to this meeting but especially an opportunity to determine if you would be comfortable during that モIntimate Moment In Timeヤ, the sharing of your wedding ceremony. Youメll know during this meeting if this is possible or not.

Keep it short. Please donメt set up this meeting for lunch or dinnerナmeeting for coffee is great because it can be short and sweet. If itメs not a fit, say thank you and good bye.

If you are fairly sure youメd like this Officiant to marry you ask if she/he will tentatively hold your date until you get back to them. You donメt want to lose this person just because youメre not yet sure.

So now you have made a choice, whatメs the next step? Check out step # 4 in a few days to find out.

Please feel free to respond to this blog with questions or comments.

Sun Mountain Lodge--THE Best Resort in the Northwest

Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, WA is, in our opinion and that of many others, THE best resort in the Northwest.

THE best ceremony site on the lawn . . .
THE best on site wedding planners and coordinators . . .
THE best chef in Eastern Washington . . .
THE best dining facility overlooking Wolf Creek . . .
THE best wine cellar in Eastern Washington . . .
THE best pool and view from the jacuzzi . . .
THE best cross country skiing and mountain bike trails in the Northwest . . .
THE best horse rides on the same trails . . .

GREAT staff, GREAT conscierge, beautiful rooms.

The events always go well and the last event we did there?? The guests flew in from Nova Scotia and Toronto, took a bus from Sea Tac Airport for five hours and ended up at Sun Mountain Lodge for a destination wedding.

What does that tell you?? Well, they bipassed Banff, Vancouver, BC and Seattle just to get to Sun Mountain!

Who is the top referred DJ company at Sun Mountain Lodge? Of course, only Entertainment Northwest Disc Jockeys will do. We have six events booked there already next year, several from the RAVE REVIEWS of brides who worked with us there over the last couple of summers.

If you are looking for THE BEST destination wedding spot in the Northwest, all we can say is SunMountainLodge.com. Stay there for a weekend and you will understand what we already know.

Best wishes on your special day and when you decide to spend the biggest day of your life at the lodge, Entertainment Northwest will be there to help you make your dreams come true!

Shipboard Weddings

Many cruise lines now have provisions for wedding ceremonies aboard the ship, and more and more couples are taking to the sea for their nuptials and, of course, for their honeymoon, also.

The wedding ceremony can be civil or religious depending on the package and the preference of the bride and groom. Contrary to the Hollywood image, today's cruise ship captains are not allowed to perform wedding ceremonies. Also, you cannot get married while the ship is at sea, but only when it's in a U.S. port. Regulations regarding marriage licenses vary by state, and the cruise line will send you all relevant information.

With prices for conventional weddings soaring, another attraction of shipboard ceremonies is the cost. Wedding packages begin at about $250, and go as high as $1200, with the average wedding package around $650. On land, a wedding photographer alone can cost a thousand dollars. If you choose to have your Wedding onboard, approximately $1,000. will pay for the ceremony, the ship's photographer, a wedding album, flowers and a reception for twenty people with cake, champagne, open bar, and hot and cold hors d'oeuvres.

The Perfect Wedding Does Not Exist!!!

Now that we have that realization out of the way, let's go over some tips to help it be as close to perfect as possible.

Always meet your wedding vendors in person. That way you can get a feel for their personality. They in turn, can learn more about you and your ideas about the wedding. The smallest expression can say so much about someone. I am a firm believer in first impressions.

Don't settle for anything that you do not love. Whether it be the location, cake, flowers, or music, you are entitled to have it your way.

Most importantly, remember that not everything can go as planned. Something will go wrong. At my sister's wedding, the pictures after the ceremony took so long that by the time the bride and groom were done, the buffet had been put away. We were frantic that they would be hungry, but the caterer had made take out boxes for them to enjoy while their guests danced the night away. My best friends wedding had a glitch with the unity candle. The decoration on the outside caught on fire. Luckily, her sister was there to put it out before it became serious. The point is, with professional vendors and supportive family and friends, the biggest or smallest problem can be taken care of with little stress.

Wedding invitation trends are less traditional and more unique.

No longer is the traditional pearly white, rectangle invitation, with the silver border, decorated with a script font the norm. More and more brides are choosing to implement style into their wedding day with custom designed announcements. They want something unique, something more personal to them. A creative announcement sets the precedence for the entire wedding day. It is the guest's first glimpse into the special event. R.S.V.P cards, maps, table settings and thank you cards also can be made to match the designs of the announcements. To find unique invitations visit www.anomalyannouncements.com.

Why book your wedding vendors early?

First of all, to get your top choice. If you have your heart set on a certain photographer or caterer, don't wait! Probably the second most important reason is for peace of mind. Once you know who is going to take care of the major portions of your ceremony and reception, there is much less to worry about.

As your date gets closer your days will be filled with consultations and smaller decisions, nailing down exact details. That is plenty to think about! You don't want to have to worry if there is going to be anyone still not booked on your date to provide your live music, or any other key component.

If money is a concern, ask what is required to book your date. Usually it is a small deposit along with a signed contract. Many vendors are willing to work with you when it comes to payment, and of course, paying part of the fee now means less to pay later.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by choices, research and decide on one category of vendors before going on to the next category. If you're looking for caterers, don't be distracted by ads for photographers. If something does catch your eye in another category, simply bookmark it or note it down, then come back later. Research and choose your officiant, then your music, then your flowers, etc, until you have each element taken care of.

By not procrastinating and by taking care of one thing at a time, planning the momentous occasion that is your wedding can be made a more manageable task. Best wishes in your planning!

Different Styles of photography

There are four different approaches that photographerメs use: Traditional, Photojournalistic, Illustrative and Creative. Read below for a description of each..

Traditional photography...
is any formal or informal portraits of the bridal party, family, and friends in close-up and full length, as well as candid photographs of key events at the wedding. Most brides choose this mixed version of photography for their wedding day.

Photojournalistic...
means no posed photographs - all pictures would be taken without any instruction from or awareness of the photographer.

Illustrative photography...
looks like the photos that you see on billboards, and magazines. This is set up like a commercial photography shoot; the photographer arranges every detail of the image.

Creative or Artistic photographer...
takes pictures from unique angles, lighting, etc. This type of photographer creates his or her artistic impression of your wedding day.

For myself, I tend to use a mixture of all these styles, focusing on the traditional style for group shots; which parents of the bride and groom like, but I will always look for ways to make it different. I.E. Creative. Then I blend the Creative style with the Photojournalist style for most others.

When meeting with photographers, view not only a portfolio of a mixture of weddings, also ask to view an album of a full wedding. Make certain the photos were from current weddings and that he/she was the photographer. (Larger companies and even some smaller ones may have multiple photographers that shoot for them, or even sales representatives that meet with you.)

While looking at the photographs ask yourself these questions about style:
Are the posed photographs well lit and pleasantly arranged?
Do the candid photos show emotion?
Do the illustrative photos have a focus point or convey a meaning of romance?
Are these the type of photos that I would want taken at my wedding?

If any of the photos do not please you, ask the photographer why the picture is this way or that. For example: One particular Bride asked me in the interview process, why I bothered to take a photo of a hairspray can in a window. It does seem odd for someone not intimate with that particular wedding. But it just so happened that when the Bride and her Bridesmaids were getting ready, the nozzle broke off and began spraying everywhere non stop. They all thought this was quite funny. So to an outsider it meant nothing. To the Bride, however, it painted a smile across her face as it made her remember her day.

So.. Will your photographer film details that may mean nothing else to anyone, but mean everything to you?

If you are viewing their portfolio most photos should be pleasing, free of distraction, and convey emotion.

Interviewing a photographer should almost always be done in person. If you will be traveling to another state for your wedding or a photographer is flying in to you, you should view an online gallery that consists of their resent wedding work and a full wedding, as well as talk to them over the phone. Most brides interview at least three different photographers before deciding on one they enjoy, and like the style of. Expect to invest 10% or more of your wedding budget on a professional photographer.

Destination Bermuda: A World Away

If pristine beaches, pastelヨcolored cottages and world-class shopping and sports strike your honeymoon fancy, look no further than a cruise to Bermuda. Situated just 600 nautical miles off the coast of North Carolina, this pink jewel of an island is indeed a world away. A visit to this self-governing British colony will take you back in time, to a quieter, more civilized way of life. On Bermuda, there are no rental cars and the most popular ways of getting around this 21-square mile island range from motor scooter to horse-drawn carriage to good-old fashioned walking.

The Bermuda cruise season runs from April through October when blue skies and temperatures in the 80s are the order of the day - perfect conditions if youメre into outdoor sports or simply want to beach it. Bermuda boasts no less than six top-notch courses in the seaside-capital of Hamilton alone. If golf isnメt your cup of tea, bring plenty of sunscreen and beachwear because there are dozens of beaches to choose from. Options include the convenience of St. Georgeメs Tobacco Bay, the coral bluffs of Somerset Long Bay at Kingメs Wharf or snorkeling at Horseshoe Bay Beach in Hamilton.

Cruise ships call at three Bermuda ports. Hamilton, the islandメs bustling capital city, boasts shopping and sightseeing opportunities. Ships typically dock here at Front Street and there are plenty of restaurants and entertainment choices on the waterfront. St. Georgeメs, the center of the islandメs maritime and cultural history, is an ideal spot for self-guided walking tours with visits to the Old State House and Gates Fort. Finally, Kingメs Wharf at the islandメs west end, was built at the Royal Naval Dockyard and features art galleries, craft markets, eight museums, a snorkel park and watersports center.

Thereメs not a more convenient way to enjoy this island than by a cruise, and its proximity to the U.S. makes it an ideal getaway. If youメre looking for a romantic honeymoon, donメt hesitate to contact me and weメll plan your escape back in time to Bermuda.

The top 5 tips to having a successful wedding.

Want some tips for making your day a successful one, and one that you will cherish forever? Then read below. The 2 most crucial ones, are numbers 1 and 5. At least in my opinion.

The top 5 tips to having a successful wedding.

1. Start NOW! Timing is everything, and you need to get started working out the details of your vision and making decisions on your vendors immediately. Determine what you desire in the way of colors and themes and then start booking Wedding Vendors as soon as you can. Most, often book way in advance. Plus it will give you great peace of mind to know as soon as possible that you can cross an item off your list. ( You will have a long list. Trust me on this.) Sometimes vendors will give discounts for booking sooner to sweeten the deal. This leads me to number 2.

2. Choose your vendors carefully. Make sure they understand your vision fully. If you can get a Wedding Planner - and I advise that you do - they will help in this crucial process. If a vendor will take a booking over the phone, and this is only my opinion, without interviewing you first - change your mind immediately. Why? Simple. How in the world can someone truly understand what you want without sitting down across from you, and getting to know you? They can't. As a Wedding photographer, it is imperative that I find out as much about you as I can so to better understand what I need to do to make you happy. I may love my work and be proud of what I do for you, but it means little if you aren't beaming with happiness as well.

3. Ask if you may contact recent customers for their opinion of that particular vendor's work. Most serious wedding professionals are eager to do this anyway. Then follow through with that. Ask that recent customer, what they liked most about the vendors work, and what they liked least? How did they treat your family? How did they treat your guests?

4. Illicit the help of friends that you can blindly trust to get things accomplished for you. You simply will not be able to do all of this yourself without some help. And it needs to be help you can count on. If you have someone say they will help with making sure all of the flowers are taken care of, then you need to know it will get done without worry. This means that person, after you have made your decision, follows through with multiple contacts to the vendor to make sure they are on time and on budget to completion. At the first hint of something about to go wrong, they contact you to work out a plan. (If you have a wedding planner, most of this gets taken care of for you.)

5. Make time for yourself. Somewhere in all of the hustle and bustle of planning and preparing, you will need to decompress. Especially towards the end. My advice is to have a planned time for yourself, well in advance, where you can simply forget about everything for a short time. It could be a facial and a massage at a spa. Maybe a short 2 day shopping trip with friends. You could even tell everyone you are leaving town for two days, but really end up hanging around the back yard with your feet in a pool. In doesn't really matter what you do, as long as you do it. You spent a lot of time and money to make sure everything was just right for your special day, it would sure be nice if you were well rested and as relaxed as possible so you could enjoy it. If you have followed the other tips above, it will go smoothly. So take the time you need for yourself to decompress.

Ohナ One more thing! When you take that time to decompress, turn your cell phone offナ

Good luck!

Why we marry!!

Why We Marry; The Merry Dance of Life (Only But One View)
A. How It Happens
We sincerely request that you purchase Harville Hendrix's Getting the Love Your Want: A guide for couples and Keeping the Love you Find: A guide for singles. It is from the latter book that the following information has been culled and edited. Page references appear in parenthesis for latter reference.
We are human. Part of the human condition means we are imperfect. "(T)he dynamics of toxic families differ only in degree from those of a "normal," functional family. The process of wounding is the same. Everyone's troubles are the result of the deprivation of pleasure, the infliction of pain, and the lack of emotional safety; this is the core of the human condition. ... All children are wounded through the failure of their caretakers to meet their needs for reliable attachment, to be allowed to explore the world and return to a safe environment, to be mirrored in their search for identity, to be praised in their efforts to become competent to be supported as they venture into the world of peers, and in adolescence, to be assisted in integrating their sexuality and entering into adulthood." (116) (Hidden Self+ Lost Self+ Denied Self = Missing Self)
What happens? "We fall in love ラ with our Missing Self." (162). In finding what is lacking in ourselves, we create a unit with open boundaries that allows us to express aliveness in all areas. (163). What is the Missing Self, our Shadow? It is a combination of three parts of ourselves. Our Hidden Self is the part of ourselves we "consciously suppressed in the service of living acceptably in the world. We know about it, but other's don't, and we're not telling." (158).Our Lost Self is the part of us we repressed, making up the "prohibited parts of ourselvesヤ (158). Lastly Denied Self are those traits we possess; but deny having--others know, we don't ." (159)
As a result, we form a False Self. This is "a constructed new, substitute self that is more in alignment with the wishes of society, a public persona that will get us the love and work and approval that we need in order to survive and that rechannels our energy in approved directions.; (160) With our False Self and Denied Self we present to the world a grab bag of tricks, our Social Self. ( 162) (False Self+ Denied Self = Social Self)
You have found in your partner the parts of yourself that you were taught ラ and unconsciously believed ラ are dangerous to love. What you love in your partner is what you buried in yourself in order to survive. Enjoy the wrestling with your own Sleeping Beast's awakening in both of you. Do not give into your False Selfラ possibly terrified of giving up the safety of acceptable ラ if limited boundaries. "This awakened terror explains why many couples have their first serious fight within 48 hours of their engagement. It is also the source of honeymoon blues ラ when suddenly the buried frigidity, the rigidity, the hysteria, the dogmatism, and the passivity that has served us so well up to now shows up among the palm trees and in the honeymoon suite. "( 165)
Remember. It is part of our human condition that "to one degree or another, your partner embodies the denied negative traits you can't live with within yourself, and the positive traits of the Lost Self you can't live without. In other words, there's actually a self- betrayal going onラ in projecting your own buried qualities onto another, and then treating them accordingly, you are denying yourself. (1 68)
"How do we break this impasse? How do we reclaim our lost parts, the good and the bad, and put ourselves back together again? We came back to the same answer: through the long, demanding work of a conscious relationship with . What appears to be nature's dirty trick is actually benevolent: there is as beautiful a symmetry to the healing process, as there is to our wounding.
"They say that breaking up is hard to do, but that is wrong. It is easy to walk away before the going gets tough, to find another dreamboat-until the ship starts sinking again. Itメs waking up that's hard to do."(168)

Fitting your Wedding Plans into a Limited Budget

When I was planning my wedding day 6 years ago, I only had $7000 to work with, which, by the way, was the same amount of money my sister had 4 years before me. Needless to say, I was constantly stressed out over trying to balance everything I wanted with the reality that $7000 wasn't going to get me there! The wedding industry has become a lot more commercial over the last 10 years and here you are, with a similar budget to what I had 6 years ago! Try not to stress out as much as I did :)

Give yourself some time to research, get some referrals from friends, and don't be afraid to ask professionals if they have any specials they can offer you. Your special day is going to come, the details will get worked out, and most importantly, the entire reason for the stress and planning will be yours when you both say "I Do." Try not to loose sight of the meaning to your special day - actually getting married to your best friend!

If you need a photographer, give me a call, I would love to chat :)

Intimate Moment In Time

Intimate Moment In Time

In our last モIntimate Moment In Timeヤ we talked about the beginnings of our search for an Officiant/Minister by searching web sites and the importance of finding the right モfitヤ because you want to share this intimate moment with someone with whom you feel comfortable, at ease, and trust. You want to trust this person to guide you through the ceremony-handling all the details so you can focus on your partner (your beloved).

Step # 2ラCall them up! So you have found a few Officiants that feel like a possible match and now you want more information to help you in your decision making.

Before you make any calls (and by the way more and more men are handling this job) make a list of questions you would like to ask. Most couples who call me have no idea what they want or need to know so they let me provide information. Talk with you fianc← and have a few questions ready. Remember that your ceremony sets the tone for whatメs to follow---the CELEBRATION of the Ceremony.

So here are some possible questions
ユ How long have you been a wedding officiant?
ユ What do you like about being a wedding officiant?
ユ What if we have particular ideas about how we want the ceremony be? Will we have input on things weメd to have included in the ceremony?
ユ Will you help us create a ceremony? How does that work?
ユ Is a rehearsal included in you fee?
ユ Will you meet with us in person besides the free introductory meeting?

Figure out whatメs important to you and have a few questions ready but most of all you want to see if you feel comfortable with this person and determine whether or not you want to meet with them in person.

Next addition is Step # 3ラMeeting in Person.

BB (Beginning Blogger)

Greetings. This is our first blog here at Bridesclub. You might wonder what would possess one to now write a blog at this sight after so long without one? Well, the answer is threefold. First, to introduce ourselves to you and second, to let you know what we are up to, and third to ask for your help (keep reading for that request).

We are McKenna Video Services. We are a full video services and production company located in Puyallup, WA. Our company is made of two regular employees, and a number of モas neededヤ contractors. My name is Chris McKenna, and together with my wife, Lynette, we started this company as a natural progression of our love of video. My video background began over 20 years ago, editing video using a bulky VHS camcorder and 2 VCRメs. Over the years, I have continued to hone my editing and shooting skills as technology has evolved. Lynette has joined me in this venture as her love for video has exploded. She has a natural ability to talk and communicate with people, which translates into a tremendous benefit for our customers. We are currently a member of the Association of Video Professionals and the HVSI TakeOne Network.

McKenna Video Services prides itself on offering a full range of products and services to our customers. We love to shoot video and follow a project through to completion. We also can take your video and transfer it to DVD, a format that virtually lasts forever, make copies of your project, get in onto the web, or even edit old home movies. In addition to wedding videos, some of our more recent projects include a 30-minute infomercial airing on numerous television stations throughout the nation, an Alaska bear hunting DVD that is currently for sale nationwide in sport/hunting shops and through catalogs, and numerous videos being presented on the web and in tradeshows.

If you have visited our website recently, you may have noticed that we are currently revising it. This will help us to better communicate with you and to allow you to view some demoメs of our work. We want to thank you all for your patience with us as we work through that process.

We are also hard at work on future articles that we plan to publish here at bridesclub and on our website. Some of those topics will include:

ᄋ Why video for your wedding.
ᄋ Why Uncle Charlieメs video wonメt make you happy.
ᄋ What to look for in purchasing a video camera.
ᄋ モI doメsヤ and モdontメsヤ on your wedding day.
ᄋ Before itメs too lateナ.
ᄋ Rehearsals are not just for the wedding party.
ᄋ Best places to get married.

So, there it is: our first blog. We look forward to getting our next one out (if you have any suggestions for improvement, we appreciate the feedback). Take care. Chris McKenna

Weddings Onboard & Honeymoon Cruises ~ Nothing less than a sure thing!

Congratulations! An exciting and fulfilling journey is in front of you to create a lifetime of memories. Why not begin with a wedding or honeymoon aboard a luxurious, romantic, fun and entertaining cruise?

Todayメs cruise experience offers more than most people know with facilities and accommodations just for weddings. And, of course, if romance and adventure are of interest for your honeymoon, a cruise simply canメt be matched.

Here are FIVE things to consider when planning your wedding or honeymoon.

1. STRESS-FREE PLANNING
Cruises relieve you from some of the planning, work and anxiety that naturally accompanies a wedding. Cruises are nearly all-inclusive, making your decisions easier and ensuring that everything is coordinated. In addition, any planning involved can easily be handled by a SeaMaster Cruises Expert. Getting married on a ship or taking a honeymoon cruise is the closest thing to the perfect experience available.

2. THE WORLD OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW
Seventy-five percent of the earth is water, and everywhere it meets land is an exciting port of call. Your scenery changes daily, along with activities and sights that are unique to each port.

3. TIME FOR EVERYTHING ヨ AND FOR EACH OTHER
Thanks to the nature of a cruise, you will have time to wine, dine, relax, learn, talk, dream, swim, jog, sing, snack, sightsee, take adventurous excursions, sleep and whatever else you might have in mind. Cruises offer the ideal wedding venue or honeymoon simply because they are designed to be all-inclusive. Time for each other, not packing, unpacking, driving, flying, finding restaurants, etc.

4. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY CRUISE PRICE?
Dining virtually around the clock, complimentary 24-hour room service, nightly entertainment, full casino, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, exciting itineraries and ports of call, a world of shipboard activities, and of course, impeccable service are all included.

5. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS USE A WEDDING & HONEYMOON CRUISE SPECIALIST.
Whether you are planning a honeymoon for just the two of you or an onboard wedding with friends and family, let an expert do the work for you. Chances are you wonメt be baking your own wedding cake, sewing your own dress or tux, or taking the photos. So why leave the most relaxing and rewarding part of your new life to anyone else?

An Intimate Moment in Time

So you're getting married and searching for an Officiant/Minister for your big day. How do you go about choosing the right person for the job? I will be blogging these ideas over the next few weeks so stay tuned.

FIRST OF ALL
Standing before your beloved, looking into each others eyes while committing to love for life is an Intimate Moment in Time and you want to choose an Officiant with whom you would like to share this moment!

So step # 1 is---- Search the internet for Officiants. So get on line and check out Wedding web sites (www.Bridesclub.com, www.myseattlewedding.com just to name 2--there are many out there) or www.google.com, www.msn.com, www.yahoo.com, etc and search for something like "Seattle Wedding Officiants". This give you a place to begin. Click on the web sites and see what you think--- you can learn a lot about a person from their photo, read their site and see if this person fits your particular needs. But most of all you want to see if you connect with this person--so they seem interesting, alive, warm, engaging, sensitive. You are choosing someone to represent you and help you achieve a warm, loving, heart-felt ceremony that reflects your beliefs and vision for your wedding.

Now we are ready for Step # 2---- Call them up!

"Bridezillas" Welcome Here

One may wonder what would prompt someone to welcome "Bridezillas" the infamous word that over the past few years has been used to describe difficult brides and is even showcased on a TV reality shows.

I for one, really do not think there is such a thing as a Bridezilla. Yes, everyone has their difficult days and can be moody, yes, everyone changes their minds and yes, there are people that may give you more challenges than others or have higher expectations.....there is nothing wrong with that.

In my 20+ years in the hospitality industry, I've learned to take time to LISTEN to my clients. By understanding the background of a situation or why something is important to them, you can better serve your client.

Yes, reality (usually the budget) is going to set in at times, but as a professional I take great pride in being able to offer alternatives that may still carry out their theme but in a more cost effective manner.

"Virtual" consulting was actually a means of being able to take care of the smaller more intimate weddings (especially destination weddings) that really don't need a full service planner, but just need some help getting vendors in place and being on-site for a few hours on the wedding day to ensure everything is in order.

So the next time someone says the word "Bridezilla" don't run the other way, just smile and say how may I help you?!?!

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY

He likes to cuddle; you like your space. You need music to fall asleep; he needs silence. He's an early riser; you like to sleep late. Wondering when you're ever going to get that great night's rest? Check out these bedside tips from family studies Professor Paul Rosenblatt, author of the book "Two in a Bed: The Social System of Couple Bed Sharing" and WebMD.com's sleep disorders expert Dr. Michael Breus. Before you know it, you two will be sleeping like babies.

ユ Tossing & turning - Buy a mattress with two separate units such as ComfoRest. The bed's two separate sides allow you to adjust the level of support. This might not stop him from flopping like a fish, but at least when he does you won't be knocked out of bed!

ユ Snoring - Encourage your bedmate to hit the gym. Weight gain can make someone start snoring or make it worse. Not only will he look hotter without all those extra pounds, but you'll sleep more soundly.

ユ Rise & shine - He likes to get up at the crack of dawn; you enjoy sleeping in. Look for an alarm clock that vibrates and can fit in the pillowcase. Cell phones can also work.

ユ Cuddle buddy - He loves to cuddle, which you love -- when you're awake. Try placing some fluffy, soft pillows next to your body before he goes to sleep. It'll dampen the heaviness of his body and movements. He'll be happy because he thinks he's hugging you. You'll be happy because you'll have your own space.

ユ Light bright - You need complete and utter darkness to fall asleep. The tiniest light (like from the alarm clock) keeps you awake. Buy an eye mask (some even come with a lavender scent) and cover the clocks with a silk scarf. Just don't forget to set the alarm.

Accentuating the Positive

Aloha friends,

As the title of my blog states, I want to address the concept of "accentuating the positive". What do I mean by this? Well, it begins with the way vendors present their services to you. As you consult with your preferred vendor:

ユ Listen carefully on how they explain their product or service. Ask yourself; how
