Sushi and me
I always liked the idea of sushi as a side dish at an event. The Asian culture is just as much a part of living in the Great Northwest. Being a port state, immigration brings in so many flavors from all over the world, enriching, and spicing up the communities that we live in. We have ten different platters of Japanese Sushi that would be a hit at any party!

"Live music" for your wedding ceremony is a MUST!!!
As a musician, I have attended hundreds of weddings (possibly a thousand) over the course of the last 25 years. I have performed at churches, beaches, houses, parks, boats, restaurants, theme parks, you name it...I have performed there! I have witnessed traditional weddings, non-traditional weddings, joyous weddings, sad weddings, hilarious weddings, ridiculous weddings, obnoxious weddings, sweet weddings, magical weddings, and down right "weird" weddings. Brides and grooms have also come up with some creative ideas to make their special day stand-out above the rest. Whether it be doves, butterfly releases, rice, sand, rocks, roses, candles, or a dive into the ocean during the recessional; there is one aspect of all weddings that is an absolute must. That is "live" music.
A string quartet or trio will always add that special touch to your wedding ceremony. Classical musicians are well-trained and can handle any musical request for almost any type of wedding. A string quartet can play thousands of classical pieces as well as pop/rock songs, show tunes, theme songs, church songs, and even provide backup for a talented singer (whether it be your friend or a hired professional). Best of all, they will know exactly when to fade out and start playing at the perfect moment. (Recorded music never works out that way!!!)
Additionally, there are many ways to save money on a wedding by limiting the number of flowers, serving beer/wine instead of a full bar, or finding a beautiful "free" wedding location. However, don't skimp on the music for your wedding. Live musicians add that perfect touch to your wedding and will always be enjoyed by attendees of all ages...whether they are 2 years old or 102 years old.
"Live music" is the only music!!!

Wedding Ceremony Music - 3 vital songs
When it comes down to it ...choosing your wedding ceremony music is about 3 vital songs. Around that you can choose music for what theme or personality you want to bring across to your audience. For example, choosing a Traditional theme.
1. The Processional for the bridal party - Pachabel's Canon in D
2. Bride's Entrance song - Wagner's Wedding March ( "Here Comes the Bride)
3. Recessional for everyone exiting - Mendelssohn's Wedding March
4. Optional Background Music - Bach's - Joy of a Man's Desire
Upbeat Classical, Mellow Classical (Romantic) , Hawaiian or choose Contemporary and fill it in with your Favorites. Top it off with the Prelude in Classical...then End with a Postlude in Contemporary.

I personally like the challenge of learning new music for my expanding harp repertoire. For special song requests, it helps to have a window of 30 to 45 days to learn it...and it gives me a good excuse to shop on iTunes :) It helps to keep me current.
Thank you and Happy Planning!

Long distance wedding service request!
Every night I check the emails on brides to be requesting information about wedding services, but tonight made me giggle. I got a request from a man in Virgina looking for a bar service for his wife's birthday. I sent him toward someone in the area that could help him in the short notice that it would take to be at the party, in another 4 days. We are doing some out of state events, and as I am willing to travel, but he most likely got the wrong Washington. I wouldn't mind being flown to Hawaii for anyone interested? :)

Would you like to meet your wedding musician before your hire him? Would you like to hear him live? Would you like to know for sure that he can actually play the instrument?
Please come to my flute recital. I will be giving a free public performance at the Brechemin Auditorium in the School of Music of the University of Washington on February 24th at 2:30pm. PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY ヨ advantages you should know
Before you select your wedding photographer and videographer ヨ review the awarding advantages of selecting same company services.
Here are three reasons why you should choose your wedding photographer and videographer from the same company.
1)Both photographer and videographer work together as a team ヨ they coordinate what they are accountable for so both get the photos and video you want. You will not see them fighting for the same shot.
2)By working together, the photographer can easily share digital images with the videographer - this allows your photography (Still photos) to be incorporated into your wedding video. Makes an excellent presentation for all who view.
3)You will find a one-stop service convenience using the same company. It is less complicating and easier to coordinate two very important elements of your wedding.
Lumina Photography is one of the largest digital studios in the Northwest and we have created beautiful wedding images, videos, and albums for hundreds of area couples.
We would love to talk with you to find out how we can offer our service of photography and videography Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding day dreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at colleen@luminaphotography.com.

Who pays for what? Affording the wedding of your dreams.
Traditionally the bride's family pays for certain things, and the groom's family pays for certain things, but more and more people are opting to share in the expenses including the brides and grooms themselves.
Weddings are expensive. There is so much that goes into that special day that many people settle because they think the wedding of thier dreams is out of reach. Mind you, these are not guidelines, just an alternative suggestion. Sit down and talk to the paying parties, and come up with a financial plan that will make everyone happy.
Example: Wedding cost $12,000 ( total )
Bride's family $4,000
Groom's family $4,000
Bride and Groom themselves $4,000
This way, everything is evened out between the families, and if you have a year to plan, that's about $334 a month to save toward the big event.

Party favors?
If you're looking for something to give each of your wedding reception guests, my personal favorites are wine toppers and shot glasses. This way, they have something that can be continuely used after the event is over. With your names and date of your wedding on the shot glass, your friends and family can toast to you even when you're not there!

Penny pinching without getting cheap, quick guide in cost control
The wedding of your dreams may be affordable, it just takes some creative planning. You don't have to settle. Making a list of things you absolutely want is a good start.
How many people do you intead of having at your wedding?
Most caterers charge a per person price, this controls a lot of the cost. Ask if there is a child's price as well, this will help lower the overall bill. Serenitea Catering offers a huge meal plan for the price, making sure you're guests are very well fed, and includes a chocolate fountain or two, at every booked event.
Does the reception place allow outside vendors?
Why, because a lot of inhouse vendors charge whatever they want because you have to buy through them, whether it's catering, the bar, or inhouse vendors. Limiting your choices.
Leftover wedding cake?
A wedding cake is one of the most important center pieces of the wedding, as well as one of the most costly. When it comes down to buying the correct size for your reception, factor in that not all your guests will eat cake, some due to diabetes, or other medical reasoning. There is nothing sadder than a half eaten cake going in the garbage at the end of the event.
Honeymoon planning?
I book a lot of my own travel. I use the travel agency as a tool to combine things that I am interested in doing on my vacations. I come up with a plan, and see if thier plan can beat mine in price. Know when the "Off season" is to the destination you are going, and you can end up saving a lot of money. Summer is a peak time for travel in most of the world. If I want to go to Japan in the middle of July, it will run me $1200 a person. If I changed my trip plans to the first week of March, it goes down to $600 a person for round trip through United Airlines.
You are planning a wedding, you'll be able to research airfare, hotel, travel, tourist attractions and things to do on your own as well. Travel agencies can sometimes beat the packages, but it's always good to have a plan A and B.
Photographer?
This is one area I would shop around for. There are a lot of people that think they can take a picture by pointing and clicking, but handing someone expensive paint, will not make a beautiful picture. Examine their work, and compare. Tell them what you want in a package, and the amount you are willing to pay.
Look for a photographer that takes pictures with multiple cameras. This is suppose to be one of the most important day of your life, don't let your cousin take your professional pictures if they don't know the difference between an apature and a lens.
Having a secondary "candid" person taking your pictures is always a good idea. If they have a digital camera, they can see what was taken and delete the ones that come out weird. This is a backup plan.
Bridal showers?
Have a party, like a Pampered Chef, Party Lite, Home Interiors and host it yourself to earn free products, or give your lady friends an idea of what you want for wedding gifts.
What to ask for on your registry?
Think of what you and your future to be already has, and make a list of things that you need and want, not just want. If you are going to use that fancy waffle make once, is it really a great thing to put on your list? Gift cards are always a good idea, this let's you shop for the things you want, at a time you are ready to incorperate it into your household.
Hope this helps!

Question about a Dress Issue!
This is from Debbie in Seattle Washington.
Dear Pam,
I recently bought a dress on line, When I sent all the information to the bridal shop, the measurments ,color, style, and size, also even spoke to the woman there, and she sent a confirmation email, which I have kept all paper work, with in 6 weeks ,I got my dream dress, which I thought it was, on all the paper work stated i needed a size 4, well I got a 14, it is way to big, and will cost a fortune to fix, When I contacted the woman at the store, she stated" All sales Final" Now what am I to do?
Dear Debbie,
I am so sorry about this, but in your case the sale is not final, if all your paper work that you have saved from the shop states a size 4, then your have every right to get what you have paid for, What I reccommend is make copies of everything and send it certified mail to shop you got the dress from, and that way they can see what you have, and as I have seen the paper work that you sent for me to view, than you should have this taken care of in a few days, everyone sometimes can make a mistake so, just point it out to them by the date of you wedding you have plenty of time for this to be taken care of , Best wishes, and let me know if you have anyother issues with the Dress Shop and would love to know the outcome on this,
Pam

This is something that is important to everyone!!!
Over the weekend of doing a lovely wedding, on the way back, Ben and I encountered a very serious accident , yes we had all of the emergeny kits in the car, but none had a fire extinguisher in them, thank goodness the tow truck driver had one, I think everyone should make sure that they have one in there car, and also know how to use them, also make sure your cell phone that 911 will work, on my nextel it kept saying not in an emergency area, so had to have 411 put the call through, this is just and an FYI to everyone of you, Because you never know what will happen.
All our good wishes to you.

Why a myspace homepage?
I needed a platform that I could use as a temporary website until www.cocktailsandcatering.com was up a running. We are expecting the official website to be up and running by the end of the week.
We hope you find the www.myspace.com/weddingpros page to contain useful information and pictures of last years wedding season. It's also a fun way of keeping everyone up to date on the latest offers and photos.
We will probably continue to have the myspace page up with every other way of contacting us. We blog both on www.bridesclub.com and myspace for wedding and special events information.
We add professionals in the wedding industry only, and use the site as an information page. There is rarely a day we don't find something useful to post that could end up saving you a lot of money.
So I hope that answers that question, and if you have any other question, please feel free to email us at northwestbartender@yahoo.com

Wedding vendors recommendations
Who would your company recommend for making a wedding cake?
Celebrity Cake Studio
Freighthouse Square
Downtown Tacoma
Why?
Because I've made a career out of eating wedding cake, and some are beautiful and taste like playdo. Celebrity cake Studio has a wonderful presentation as well is very tasty.
Have You bought a cake through them?
Yep, and will continue for all my special events.
Are you the same company?
Nope, just like what they do.

Setting up house...combining housholds
When my husband and I got married last year, we combined his stuff, my stuff, my daughter's stuff, and assorted "stuff" friends and family gave us for our wedding.
So needless to say, our stuff is all over the place. When we got our place, we realized that we had more "stuff" than we actually needed. We sorted through together, and had to make some pretty hard choices on what was to keep, and what was to go.
His stuff:
I married a gamer, and that was what I had to accept was with the man of my dreams, was wires, games, and lots of time on the computer. Where to put it all? We made one room the "Gaming" room. This meant that if he kept all of his paraphenalia in one spot. We moved a loveseat into it so that we could also watch movies together.
Her stuff:
I collect stuff. It's mostly dishes and glassware from around the world, and endless amounts of kitchen gadgets. The meant that the dining room and kitchen were my rooms. I got to decorate how my tastes were, and my husband says as long as he's fed, it's good to him. (He can't cook)
Getting married, and living together is all about making a life together. Sometimes it means that you and he will give away somethings, gather somethings, and accept that your personal space is being shared instead of being invaded by someone else.
Remember that the interests that your future to be are still going to be there after you say I do, and happily ever after, means working together for a better future.

ISAGENIX~ Lose 7-15 POUNDS in 9 days! SHRINK before your wedding!!
Hello girls!!
WOW! Congrats on your BIG day!! I'm Chrissy~ I live in Washington State, and flew over to the bridal convention with my friend Krissie. I HAVE to tell you all about this "cleanse thing"..........
I was a bit "thick" around the middle. Well, a lot actually. Pretty dimply and cheese-like. I had done everything I could think of doing to lose my "tire". Nothing helped. I even considered liposuction. But it was too expensive. I was so mad at my body, and sick of feeling chubby. SO sick of it!! I had never really heard of cleansing, but stumbled across it through a friend. She had lost 13 pounds in 9 days. I gave it a shot, but was VERY skeptical, thinking it wouldn't work, because NOTHING had in the past.
Well, funny! I lost 9 pounds in 9 days, and lost 13 inches! The best part was.......I felt like a million bucks. I wanted to cry because I felt great, looked great, my gut was completely GONE! I had so much energy, I didn't even feel like the same person. I have lost a total of 15 pounds, and have kept every ounce off.........
I CANNOT explain how COOL this amazing system is!
I've been married almost 14 years, and I remember my wedding day SO clearly. It's the one day of your life that YOU are meant to feel special, and YOU are who EVERYONE is looking at. You should look and feel like the prettiest girl on the planet~ When you walk down that isle, all eyes are on you. YOU! Not on the pianist or the greeter, you.
Cleansing is the easiest way to lose weight and inches FAST! Your body holds onto toxins. They are stored in your fat cells. When you cleanse, you flush the toxins out of your bady, and the fat gets flushed out with it. You burn fat and build muscle at the same time. There are NO chemicals such as ephedra or ma huang~ All ingredients are organic nutrients and minerals.
I love ISAGENIX!!!! I want to jump up and down! If you get a chance, please check out my website~ www.chrissymarlow.isagenix.com or email me at cmarlow@centurytel.net
Again, best wishes~

How important is your wedding video
Todayメs advances in style and technique are becoming more popular then still photos alone. Many top professionals have left the realm of the old fashion "home movie" look and are now producing Cinematic, Hip & Trendy videos that can be watched over and over.
Thanks to organizations such as WEVA.com (Wedding and Event Videographers Association), brides as well as videographers are becoming more aware of how important a properly produced and edited video will become, not only now, but for generations to come.
Cinematic style is based on techniques originally conceived by Hollywood Films, where the camera is floating around details instead of being shot n tripods or held on the shoulder. Shoulder shooting is out for many Hollywood studios as the angle becomes stale quickly and the view-point is similar to how we perceive life. A mixture of low, high, medium and Dutch angles excite and delight your eye, and using foreground and background objects enhances the look.
When booking your videographer, look for these angles and shots and make sure the camera is not shaky or have signs of heavy foot walking. These are the things that make the video look amateurish and non-professional. Its your money, so why not have the best remembrance of your Wedding. Many studios charge the same to shoot Cinematic then a company with less experience and technical knowledge, so why not get something you will be proud of.

Tasteless joke
Son asked his mother the following question:
"Mom, why are wedding dresses white?"
The mother looks at her son and replies,
"Son, this shows your friends and relatives that your
bride is pure."
The son thanks his Mom and goes off to double-check this
with his father.
"Dad why are wedding dresses white?"
The father looks at his son in surprise and says,
"Son, all household appliances come in white."

Wedding Video, Inc. (Photography / Video ) 1877-VIDEO-22 or (508) 965-8736
Our preferred style of photograhy is contemporary. Influenced by a photo-journalistic approach, we photograph every picture unobtrusively and are always looking for candid moments.
When it comes to formats, he utilize both classical and relaxed contemporary posing techniques to create a unique style. We like to spend a few minutes photographing bride and groom alone, while the rest of the party is enjoying a cocktail hour. This allows the couple to relax and us to be able to capture their feelings through artistic images.
Our style of videography is a combination of European and American. We specialize in working with people from many cultures, and you will see that your wedding will have its own unique look. We are detail oriented, covering everything from your smallest decorations to an overview of allthe venues. We are one of few videographers who show their unedited work on screen at the reception. Our business philosophy is to focus on 70% attitude and 30% skill, so we pay a great deal of attention to the wishes and tastes of our clients.

Top 25 Honeymoon Planning Tips
- Not starting your honeymoon planning early
The number one mistake is leaving your honeymoon planning until
the last minute. Not only can you save significantly if you book
early, but also many popular destinations book up quickly for
peak season, so you may not get your first choice, or even your
second or third choice, if you procrastinate. Itメs never
too early to start planning.
- Not taking a honeymoon
Okay, life is pretty busy, isnメt it? But will your job/company/family
really fall apart if you take some time for yourselves? Just like
your wedding, your honeymoon is a special time that you and your
beloved will remember forever. Even if all you can take is a day
off, take that time and let us make it special for the two of
you. The last thing you want is to look back on this time years
from now and regret that you didnメt.
- Not setting an adequate
budget for your honeymoon
Werenメt born (or marrying) into the Rockefeller family?
No matter ヨ whether itメs for a night or a week or
longer - even if you donメt think you can afford a honeymoon
- we can help you save money, get perks and upgrades not available
to others, and make it a special time youメll remember forever.
- Not considering a
Honeymoon Registry
An increasingly popular trend nowadays is the モhoneymoon
registryヤ, which works just like a bridal registry. We can
set up your registry, and provide you with complimentary cards
to go inside your invitations (or Save The Date cards) to let
folks know where and how they can contribute to making your dream
honeymoon come true. This is especially popular with couples that
already have all the household items they need. Weメll keep
an automated list for the bride of how much has been contributed
and by whom, and send a receipt and complimentary gift card to
each contributor.
Many of our couples have had their honeymoon vacation completely
paid for by their registry, and often with a little left-over
cash to spend on their honeymoon as well!
- Forgetting to book
a hotel room for your wedding night
Believe it or not, this one is very common! Many brides are so
focused on the big day, and on arriving at their honeymoon destination,
that they forget about the wedding night if they arenメt
leaving right after the wedding. Youメll want your first
night together to be special, so put some thought into where youメll
stay and how youメll get there after the reception (or let
us do that for you).
- Allowing out-of-town
guests to book their own accommodations
We can negotiate discounted room rates, and arrange air travel
and transportation for everyone who may be flying in for your
wedding ヨ saving them money and you the headache of trying
to coordinate getting everyone where they need to go, especially
if theyメll be attending other events, like your rehearsal
dinner, bachelor or bachelorette party, etc..
- Booking too early
a flight for the day after your wedding
If youメre having a late afternoon or evening reception,
itメs a good bet that you wonメt be feeling bright-eyed
and bushy-tailed the next morning when itメs time to go to
the airport! Okay, Iメll be honest ヨ I donメt
really know what モbushy-tailedヤ means either, but
hey, I know I donメt feel that way in the morning, period.
Keep in mind what time youメll need to be at the airport,
and be realistic about what time youメll be able to get up
in the morning.
- Over the top partying
(this goes for both of you!)
Sure itメs fun to kick off your shoes and let your hair down
once youメve got the モI doメsヤ out of the
way, but keep in mind that there are few things in life less romantic
than spending your wedding night embracing the toilet. OR being
hung over on your honeymoon. OR even worse, seeing the pictures
Aunt Edna took of you dancing on the table. Do you really want
to risk that being posted on the internet? Be sure to eat something
so that if you have a drink (or a few) they wonメt hit you
as hard.
- Not getting to the
airport early
If youメre flying to your honeymoon destination, be sure
that youメve pre-booked your transportation to the airport,
and leave yourselves plenty of time to get to there, get checked
in, and get through security. Although the airlines still recommend
60 to 90 minutes early, weメve seen lines at security checkpoints
that you wouldnメt believe! Donメt risk missing your
honeymoon ヨ better to sit and read at the gate than to miss
your flight. Another tip: slip a zip-loc style plastic baggie
in your purse and then put all your jewelry, and anything from
your pockets, into it to get through security faster. And lastly,
if youメre planning a longer honeymoon and checking several
bags, we can arrange to send them a few days early, so thereメs
less for you to schlep through the airport.
- Not realizing that
most tours and cruises depart on Saturdays
At least the 7-day cruises that is, and with Saturday being the
most popular day to marryナ hmmmナ..you can see the
conflict, canメt you? Most of the 3-day sailings depart on
Fridays, most 4-day sailings depart on Mondays, and there are
even 10- and 11-day sailings and longer! So if youメve always
dreamed of taking a cruise honeymoon, be sure to book your cruise
first, and take the departure date into account when choosing
the wedding date and location. And unless you live within driving
distance of the port of departure, youメll have a flight
too (normally booked at the time you book your cruise), so keep
in mind that youメll need extra time to get to the port city,
allowing for a leisurely (not rushed!) embarkation.
- Not telling the hotel
(and everyone else) that youメre honeymooning
Donメt be shy ヨ itメs your time to shine, and
the whole world loves lovers! Weメll make sure that youメll
get special treatment and an upgrade on rooms and meals.
- Not taking your future
spouseメs opinions into consideration
Admit it ヨ youメve been thinking about your wedding
day - and likely your honeymoon as well - since you were in kindergarten.
However, very few men think of such things, so often brides assume
that their fianc← doesnメt really care about the details.
Planning your dream honeymoon without consulting him will result
in a trip youメll love, but he wonメt. If you want your
honeymoon to be as memorable for your beloved as it will be for
you, itメs crucial to ask him questions, such as where heメd
like to go and what heメd like to do. Of course, he still
may say, モWhatever you want, dearヤ.
- Not considering モoff
seasonヤ travel
Go where youメve always wanted, but go when everyone else
goes and youメll not only pay モpremiumヤ rates,
but youメll deal with crowds, booked up spas and tours, longer
waits at the restaurants, etc. Try going when itメs less
crowded for a truly relaxing and romantic experience. Plus, when
there are fewer tourists, youメll get more attentive service!
Just be sure to consult us so that you don't wind up at your honeymoon
destination during a hurricane!
- Not getting advice
from someone who has been to your destination
Planned a tropical island honeymoon in October, then arrived to
find that it was monsoon season there? Or went to that Dude Ranch
in Arizona after being inspired by the movie モCity Slickersヤ
only to discover that July is way too hot and most of the horses
were sent north to Colorado weeks ago? That wonメt happen
to you if you take the time to research your trip with someone
who knows the place well. If you donメt know someone personally,
chances are good that we will, or may have even been there ourselves
- we take pride in knowing our honeymoon destinations intimately!
- Being unaware of
local customs at your destination
Since youメll likely spend some of your time outside of your
hotel room, and will be interacting with the locals, itメs
important to know what dress and behavior is considered appropriate,
so that you donメt risk offending anyone, or worse, spending
the rest of your life in a seedy foreign prison and possibly causing
an international incident in the process.
- Forgetting to get
(or renew) your passport
Traveling out of the country? Be sure you have a current Passport.
It can take 6 to 8 weeks (including mailing time) to get a new
or renewed Passport, or 2 to 3 weeks if you pay hefty additional
fees for expedited service. For information on fees, passport
office locations, and to download application forms and instructions,
visit the U.S. Department of States website at http://www.travel.state.gov/passport_services.html.
Or let us plan your honeymoon and weメll handle all of the
paperwork for you ヨ and if you're close to one of our offices,
weメll even take your photo if you need one (or a new one).
- Being unaware that
many European hotel rooms have only single beds
As do some cabins on cruise ships. It just isnメt comfortable
trying to squeeze both of you in a bed designed for one, but it
certainly isnメt intimate being in separate beds. So unless
twin beds are your preference, be sure to request a queen or king
bed when you book!
- Waiting until the
last minute (or day) to pack for your trip
Thatメs a sure-fire way to forget something important, or
wind up packing something in your checked luggage that youメll
need (or want) in-flight. Of course, if youメve printed our
Packing Checklist, then youメll have nothing to worry about.
Unless, of course, you forget to use the checklist. And don't
forget to check out our Packing Tips, too.
- Packing too much
(or too little)
Thereメs just no excuse for not printing our Packing Checklist
from our website. Or, if youメre lucky enough to be one of
the organizationally blessed, create one and share it with us!
Just be sure to take into account 1) where youメre going,
2) when youメre going there, 3) how long youメll be
there, and 4) the monetary exchange rate multiplied by the inside
dimensions of your suitcase (so youメll know how many souvenirs
you can bring back, of course!) Oh yeahナ.unless youメre
planning to start a family right away, donメt forget to pack
your birth control.
- Underestimating the
impact of a sunburn
No matter how tempting the beach or pool is, resist spending hours
there the first day, and when you do venture out, be sure to use
loads of sunscreen. Thereメs no quicker way to ruin a honeymoon
vacation than screaming モouch!ヤ every time he touches
you. Or vice versa. ムNuff said.
- Scheduling all of
your time around activities
With all the excitement youメve been through (or will be
going through) in the weeks and days leading up to your Big Day,
you may not realize just how truly exhausting it can all be, but
it will certainly hit you a day or so after the wedding. Be sure
to leave yourselves enough モrelaxationヤ time, for
at least the first couple of days of your honeymoon vacation,
to keep the potential for crankiness at bay. After all, youメll
have many more trips with your new spouse, but only one honeymoon,
so relax and enjoy it!
- Not planning some
time apart
Everyone needs a little private time to truly relax, and we donメt
mean just when youメre in the bathroom. Schedule his-and-hers
massages at different times, or if youメre not into parasailing
and he wants to give it a try, head to the pool with a book, do
some souvenir shopping, or take some pamper time for yourself
at the hotelメs spa. It will give you more to talk about
over dinner too!
- Forgetting to bring
your sense of humor
No matter how carefully you plan your trip, sometimes things can
go wrong. Yes, even at a world-class honeymoon destination. Donメt
let anything ruin the overall purpose of your trip ヨ which
is to have a fun and romantic time alone with your beloved. Laugh
it off and youメll only remember the good stuff. If nothing
else youメll have some funny stories to tell your grandkids
someday!
- Not bringing enough Travelerメs
Checks or cash (in small denominations)
Itメs not just a commercial, itメs true ヨ not
everywhere takes American Express, or VISA or MasterCard for that
matter (although many places do). But itメs best to have
some small-denomination travelerメs checks stashed in your
security-style money belt for that little souvenir you just canメt
live without. Small-denomination because in many foreign countries
they won't want to give you change in US Dollars. And youメll
want to have some cash (again in small bills) on hand to tip those
hard working folks who carry your bags, bring you drinks, etc.
- Not packing enough
film (or extra memory for a digital camera)
Film generally has a pretty long shelf life, so even if you donメt
use it all on your trip and wind up bringing some home unused,
youメll eventually use it. Itメs better than paying
prices at the destination, which are often substantially higher.
And if youメre toting one of those nifty digital cameras,
take extra memory cards so you wonメt have to agonize over
which of those terrific shots youメll have to delete to make
room for more! The same goes for extra camera batteries, whichever
kind you need.

Hawaii Weddings and Events welcomes Bridezillas
Why would one welcome the ever feared "Bridezilla" that has become a household word in the wedding planning world?
Personally, I think the simple translation would be "an overwhelmed or frazzled bride that just has a need that was not met."
They always say to only have one MAJOR life change at a time. When you think about it, not only are today's brides either full time students or working, they are often paying for the wedding themselves (which can bring on another stress), in the midst of changing jobs or moving and/or buying a new home.....it's no wonder they can get a little frazzled.
By understanding what the bride may be going through, you may learn how to better service your client. If you respond promptly to your bride and keep them informed if there will be some delays due to events, then they really are understanding and patient.
So, give me a bridezilla anyday......I love to see how they evolve from being a bit frazzled or not knowing where to turn, to a beautiful vibrant woman walking down the aisle and achieving her dreams.

Diversity
No new news to report, but looking back on last year and ahead to 2007, I am struck by the diversity of weddings we have played at. Diversity of venues- large, small, indoor, outdoor, hotels, churches and other places of worship, parks, mansions, theatres, and halls of all kinds. Diversity of cultural and religious traditions- Catholic, Jewish, Baha'i, agnostic, Christian, Chinese, Korean, Persian, African, Irish, and many more that I am forgetting. The diversity in ceremonies is not as easy to categorize, but we have been happy to hear poetry and verses from diverse traditions, varied ceremonies and elements, a beautiful variety of clothing, and we have been honored to play music from a wide variety of faith traditions and music from around the world.
What these ceremonies all have in common is beauty. Love, and its expression in a wedding, is always beautiful. It touches the hearts of those present and leaves a lasting impression. If you are to be married this year, even in the midst of planning, decisions, and activity, please look ahead to your wedding day full of beauty and love.

This question was sent by Darlene, in PA,
We went to a cake tasting last week, the cake pictures were nice that she showed us, but the cake didn't measure up, they are in the right price, the baker has called us several times,my question is what do I tell them as to why we can't use them? Any suggestions?
First of all, cake is one of the most important things of your wedding, because that is the final of the meal,
Sometimes cakes look beautiful in the pictres but the taste has to go with it, I will use myself on this one, as to how I handled this recently, someone came in with a great looking cake for us to try, Well when I bit in to it, well lets say, it was very bitter, So after a while no one said anything, so the answer was quite simple for us we said thank you for yor time, and we will let you know, So I sat down, wrote a Thank you card, thanking them for there time, and then explained it was not the type of cake that I was looking for my event, So then a few day's later she called, oh no what do I do, well, I told her the truth, that it was not very good, but was my take on it, So just bow out gracefully , just ssend a quick email or a card, and leave it at that, will be your best bet. Remember don't settle on the cake, there are great bakers who will work with you, or find a great cooking school, that can be a way of helping you stay in budget.

The best wedding cake I have ever tasted!
The best wedding cake I have ever had!
I have made a career out of eating wedding cake, and by far the best I've tasted is from Celebrity Cake Studios at the historic Freighthouse Square in Downtown Tacoma. I have these guys make all my special event cakes, and would give them the highest recommendation for your wedding or special event. I had them make a cake resently to celebrate a birthday for a huge NFL Broncos fan, and was impressed with the design and taste of the cake they made for him. It was made of a champagne marble flavor, and the cake turned out great. People wanted seconds! So if you need someone to create a masterpiece for you for an event like wedding, or a just because, try them out, you won't be disappointed!

Destinations around the world & experience too!
As a lifetime travel junkie, some of my favorite destinations are tropical. My recent trips include Beaches Turks and Caicos for fabulous scuba diving; a wonderful trip exploring Italy with my son; 2 weeks in Tahiti on the outer islands including Bora Bora, Tikehau, Tahaa and Manihi; a couple of days at each of the Sandals resorts on St Lucia and Antigua; a Caribbean cruise on the Mariner of the Seas and a week walking all over New York City.
In April Iメm headed to Washington D.C. and this summer plan to be back モDown Underヤ visiting Ayers Rock and the Northern Territories in Australia. On my last Aussie visit I was in Sydney, Melbourne, Kangaroo Island and Adelaide. On Christmas Eve we watched a turtle lay her eggs on Heron Island, then spent a few days sailing the Whitsundayメs and celebrated New Years Eve at Silky Oaks Lodge near Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. Australia is huge and has so much to see, it will take many more trips to see it all!
Other favorite destinations include Mexico, New Zealand, Greece, Belize, Costa Rica, Bali and Thailand. I havenメt been to Africa or Antarctica yet but Iメm working on it. So if you are planning a family vacation or honeymoon and want to work with a Destination Specialist, I hope youメll call me! Describing Styles of Photography
There are four different approaches that photographerメs use: Traditional, Photojournalistic, Illustrative and Creative. Read below for a description of each..

is any formal or informal portraits of the bridal party, family, and friends in close-up and full length, as well as candid photographs of key events at the wedding. Most brides choose this mixed version of photography for their wedding day.
Photojournalistic...
means no posed photographs - all pictures would be taken without any instruction from or awareness of the photographer.
Illustrative photography...
looks like the photos that you see on billboards, and magazines. This is set up like a commercial photography shoot; the photographer arranges every detail of the image.
Creative or Artistic photographer...
takes pictures from unique angles, lighting, etc. This type of photographer creates his or her artistic impression of your wedding day.
For myself, I tend to use a mixture of all these styles, focusing on the traditional style for group shots; which parents of the bride and groom like, but I will always look for ways to make it different. I.E. Creative. Then I blend the Creative style with the Photojournalist style for most others.
When meeting with photographers, view not only a portfolio of a mixture of weddings, also ask to view an album of a full wedding. Make certain the photos were from current weddings and that he/she was the photographer. (Larger companies and even some smaller ones may have multiple photographers that shoot for them, or even sales representatives that meet with you.)
While looking at the photographs ask yourself these questions about style:
Are the posed photographs well lit and pleasantly arranged?
Do the candid photos show emotion?
Do the illustrative photos have a focus point or convey a meaning of romance?
Are these the type of photos that I would want taken at my wedding?
If any of the photos do not please you, ask the photographer why the picture is this way or that. For example: One particular Bride asked me in the interview process, why I bothered to take a photo of a hairspray can in a window. It does seem odd for someone not intimate with that particular wedding. But it just so happened that when the Bride and her Bridesmaids were getting ready, the nozzle broke off and began spraying everywhere non stop. They all thought this was quite funny. So to an outsider it meant nothing. To the Bride, however, it painted a smile across her face as it made her remember her day.
So.. Will your photographer film details that may mean nothing else to anyone, but mean everything to you?
If you are viewing their portfolio most photos should be pleasing, free of distraction, and convey emotion.
Interviewing a photographer should almost always be done in person. If you will be traveling to another state for your wedding or a photographer is flying in to you, you should view an online gallery that consists of their resent wedding work and a full wedding, as well as talk to them over the phone. Most brides interview at least three different photographers before deciding on one they enjoy, and like the style of. Expect to invest 10% or more of your wedding budget on a professional photographer.

Indulging your sweet tooth!
One of my favorite things to make with or without rum is Bananas Fosters. It's such a versital dish. I like to make fudge truffle brownies covered in a mix of caramel sauce, cinnamon, and sliced fan stirred banana slices, and when I have an ice cream craving, we make Banana Fosters over real vanilla ice cream. It's yummy :) It's fast, and easy to make. So next time you have a sweet tooth, and don't know what to eat to tame the sugar beast, try this dish!

Brand New Invitation Options
Are you looking for photo invitations?
Are you planning a small ceremony, and need a very small quantity of invitations?
Are you looking for a classy, sophisticated-looking invitation?
Are you planning to print your own invitations?
If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, then we have a brand new album specific for you.
Stylart's Elegant Reflections offers photo invitations for every kind of couple and every kind of ceremony. I was amazed to see the photo-lined envelopes and the photo envelope seals they offer to coordinate with your invitation.
Carlson Craft has just released a brand new album I expect to receive before the end of the week. The album is specifically designed for couples planning small weddings, who may only need a few invitations. I can't wait to see the selections and pricing! If you're planning to print your own invitations because you want to save some money, you might want to wait and check out this new collection first.

Finally, we know a lot of you are planning to print your own invitations. And we know many of you are looking to save money. So, before going out to the popular paper retailers, and paying regular retail prices for your paper, do yourself a favor and talk to us. Did you know we can purchase any invitation shown in our albums as blank stock? Did you know our McPherson's album offers blank invitation kits designed for do-it-yourself printing? Did you know we can purchase a lot of different types of specialty paper at wholesale prices? And did you know that we pass our discounts on to you?
While we think our album collections include invitations for every budget, we respect your decision to save on your wedding costs where it makes the most sense to you. And we're pleased to help, so contact us with your invitation ideas.

If youメve just attended a bridal show, chances are -- you were swamped with materials and offers from the many competing photographers and videographers. In fact, you probably have a bag full of flyers and offers and proposals --

Kids are Guests Too.
Great music, gourmet menus, candle light & cocktails... we put so much effort into seeing to our wedding guests' comfort. It makes the big day memorable for everyone. While we take time to cater to our peers, we often forget the littlest party-goers.
If you are hosting an all-inclusive event, be sure you take time to make it family friendly. Serve some kid-hit foods (like, pigs in a blanket, apple dippers, and pastas) and provide them with age appropriate activities. Moms & dads will appreciate your thoughtfulness even more than the kids.
Some ideas:
Big Budget:
-hire a balloon artist or face painter
-rent or purchase puppets & a theater and let the tots produce their own show
-rent an inflatable bounce toy or a ball bin (they are now made in various sizes, and can fit indoor venues)
-create an ice cream/soda counter (dispense a limited amount of tickets, to keep little ones from eating themselves into a tummy ache)
-bring in a dress-up chest of fancy clothes, so kids can play at wedding (or fireman, or super hero, or princess)
Small Budget:
-reserve a table or tables for crayons, washable markers, pads of paper, legos & tinkertoys
-for an outdoor venue: fill a small wading pool with sand, buckets, shovels and dump truck toys
-get inexpensive craft kits so children can make their own wedding favors(have a highschool-age friend oversee this)
Lastly, provide ammenities for infants & toddlers. High chairs, and a place for the itty bitty ones to crash are thoughtful touches. Rent or borrow a couple of port-a-cribs, and station them in a quiet corner (or a seperate room with a monitor). This consideration will let moms & dads stay past early baby bedtimes, or having to bow out because it's tiny-tot nap time.

Tips from a Vendor on How to Get the Most from Attending a Bridal Show.
As a wedding photographer I have put in many hours at bridal fairs and trade shows. I would like to offer a few words of friendly advice that will make visiting these events more successful for brides everywhere. 1. Decide what services/products you need.
If you donメt have a check list of モto doヤ items, please make one. Planning a wedding is very time sensitive and many of these list items need to be taken care ASAP. Booking a photographer is one of them. Most photographers, me included, book their weddings about 9-12 months ahead of time. If you donメt have a photographer and youメre wedding is in June you might want to put this at the top of your list. If youメre wedding in is March you should be panicking.
2. Where possible get a list of the different vendors attending and do your homework ahead of time.
Use the website from each bridal show to get a listing of all of their vendors. Bridesclub.com does a great job. It might save you a lot of time and money if you visit the site of these vendors prior to the show. As an informed consumer, you now have the upper hand and you will be more satisfied with your choices. Itメs also a good idea to write down a few questions to ask. This will help you compare the different products and services. Donメt be surprised if comparison shopping is difficult, each vendor will have their own pricing, style, and way of doing business. You should ask questions that help you establish why that particular business is right for YOU.
3. Print out labels to use for entering contests and give-a-ways.
Many vendors will offer a prize as a way of attracting you to visit their booth. To avoid hand cramping, I suggest pre-printed labels. Make sure they include your name, phone, email and wedding date. Simply stick your label on the entry form, cross your fingers, and pray that you win.
4. Get there early. Bring good shoes and a game plan.
These types of events always have long lines, and if you want to get the most out of the experience, be prepared to invest some time with each vendor before you invest your money. Youメre game plan should include who you want to see first, second and so on. Itメs okay to re-visit a vendor you like, or skip one you are not interested in. Take notes and gather information. Ask questions youメve prepared to help you do a side by side comparison. Try to get a feel for how they do business, and if they say something that interests you, take notes so you will remember later on. Donメt forget to grab a brochure.
5. Bring the guy!
It never hurts to have your fianc← around, but try to make planning the wedding fun for him too. If he doesnメt have his tux yet, let him spend some time looking at tuxes, and even if you have a caterer and confectioner, donメt skip these booths when they will offer your sweetie a taste! After heメs spent a long afternoon doing what you want to do, take him out for dinner as a モThank you for coming even though I know it was the last thing you wanted to do today.ヤ
6. Donメt feel rushed, spend time talking to the vendors.
A lot of people come to bridal show unsure what they need or where to get it, so they wander around trying to look unapproachable so no one sells them something they donメt want. Truth is, they do want what the vendors are offering, and they are just too scared to ask! They then leave the bridal show and wonder why it wasnメt very helpful. Whatメs the worst that could happen? You might find a vendor you didnメt know about that has exactly what you have been looking for. Remember youメre in control. We are asking for you business, not the other way around.
7. Bring your check book.
If you stuck to your plan and asked all of your questions, odds are that before you leave the bridal show, you will have a pretty good idea of what you want. So, what are you waiting for? Be prepared to pay deposits and sign contracts. Then walk to your car with a smile on your face, because you just set in motion the happiest day of your life!

Words of wisdom for those taking the plundge
Words of wisdom for those taking the plundge
With the passing of close family member, it's never to early to think about your financial future. You have already chosen to be with this person for as long as you possibly can, investing into your future with Life Insurance is a long term, loving way to tell those that you care for that even after you pass, that they will be taken well care of. Being in your twenties, and early thirties, the amount you pay for coffee would most likely be more than an investment that could one day cover that dream home, funeral expenses, and long term care for your children and future children. I really don't want this to sound like a corny sales pitch, but thinking about these things now, is better than getting crippled financially later when it comes to taking care of the people in your life.
Our personal recommendation, he takes care of our businesses so we can take care of everything else.
