Does Smart Money KNOW How to Save Money on a Wedding?

Edit | Delete The Wall Street Journal's baby gives advice on Wedding Cost Savings?????

While we print lovely invitations of high quality, we never recommend that a bride overspend on her wedding invitations, and work together to give her all the pieces she requires to give her guests what they need to receive an invitation, response card, and any other details required in the most efficient cost effective way possible, regardless of how much she wishes to spend on her wedding invitations.

Smart Money published an article with 5 things to save money on wedding invitations, and this infant of the Journal is telling you to cut out an inner envelope (yes, it is ok to do this, and is a nominal amount of money, in most situations, and some suppliers won't allow any discount for it. (We don't get to make all the rules)......And, to NOT use a reception card, or a response card, but a free wedding website...Yes, this can be done. We often put the reception information, a map, accommodations and directions on a two sided card, eliminating up to 3 additional cards, and demonstrate the efficiency of ONE card in addition to the invitation, saving our clients MONEY and showing guests our clients care about their comfort in receiving adequate information for attending a wedding.

While we do publish a newsletter, and are working on a book about wedding stationery, we are not giving advice on personal investments or budgets, and we would like for these folks to understand the message one sends when sending out an invitation with no response card or other information. A poorly done invitation communicates no excitement about attending an event. It gives the impression that no one cares about the event or the guests enough to appropriately give out enough information and assistance to get people from in-town or out of town to the event easily.

While we frequently use a response line for an email address to send out maps, events, and other information on where to stay, we think it is prudent to make guests feel comfortable about responding.

And, yes, computer calligraphy can be done at home, but I can tell you that it is not as easy as it looks, and when we offer a substantial discount to purchasers of invitations from us, and save you time and tons of envelopes you may lose without some experience in doing this, I would think twice before taking Smart Money's advice to heart.

They mean well, and they are not brides with 150 to 200 invitations to get out. And, get this, they even stated you could save up to $50 to 100 an invitation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, we can assume they meant on your invitation total bill. And, is it worth saving such a small amount of money when helping guests feel delighted about accepting, and setting aside the time to be with you is the primary focus of sending the invitation? The decision is all yours.

Maybe, they sell magazines with this. I just hope they don't decide to become wedding invitation consultants and printers and designers, too....LOL.

Seriously, look at all advice you receive and decide what works best for you.

Sincerely,

Judy Lilley

Budgeting for your Wedding

Wouldnt it be great if you had unlimited money to pay for the wedding of your dreams? For most brides though, this is not usually the case. Budgeting is a necessary part of planning your wedding. Managing your expenses is also an important step in making your marriage financially sound after the wedding day is over!
First, know what your actual budget is. How much money is there to spend and who is paying? If money is being offered to you by family to cover expenses, is it a set amount or a range? Many times the total money is a combination from the families and the couples resources. The average price of a wedding in Washington State in 2006 was estimated at $26,940. You can have a beautiful wedding for less and could certainly spend a great deal more depending on your plans.

Now that you know your budget, decide what is most important to you for your wedding celebration. If you have your heart set on a designer dress, luxurious location, or sumptuous menu, stick to your wishes. Write down what your dream day would be. Look at which aspects are most vital to you. Spend more in the aspects that really matter to you and less in areas that are not as important to you. Then stick to it!

How rewarding it could be to start your married life without the worry and stress of a pile of debt greeting you after the honeymoon. Sticking to a budget can be challenging as you get closer to your wedding day. All the expenses start adding up.

This is where Simply Celebrations & Events can be most valuable. I can help you maintain and stay within your budget from start to finish. Good planning and creativity can save you money and you can still have the wedding you have always dreamed of.

Whats on your checklist?

Wouldnt it be great to have a customized one? A well thought out checklist is crucial to good planning and can even relieve stress. Putting it all to paper can give peace of mind. Satisfaction is crossing items off a list.

Almost everyone has awakened in the middle of the night thinking or worrying about something they forgot to do! All the important details of planning a wedding can be overwhelming even for the most organized couple. Just making a list can seem like a big project!

Generic checklists are a great place to start planning. These are readily available on most wedding websites and in bridal magazines. Checklists will have most of the necessary steps to planning a standard wedding. However some of your not so typical needs might not even be mentioned on these. A good customized checklist starts from asking questions about what is important to you on your wedding day. Some aspects will be mean more to you than to another bride. Maybe you want to carry a family Bible down the aisle or the luscious food at the reception is your main focus. Perhaps you want to be sure that your Great Aunts cake knife is at the cake table for slicing your cake together or you plan to use special heirloom glasses for your first toast. There are so many details to remember and these are what will make the day truly yours. To be certain that all the little things arrive at your wedding site and are in their right place, you need a well organized checklist.

So take out your pen or pencil and ask yourself what details need to be included. If you find this to be more than you want to handle on your own, let Simply Celebrations & Events cross one more thing off your list&&your own personalized checklist and time-line.

Top Honeymoon Destinations

Your honeymoon can be the most romantic trip you'll ever take, and it can also be a lot of fun. Look for a destination that offers everything you want. Remember that there is no "ideal" destination - your personalities will determine where your honeymoon should be. For inspiration, the following locations are traditionally considered the greatest spots to honeymoon:
HAWAII - Hawaii remains the number one destination for honeymoons year after year because of its romantic sunsets, magnificent beaches, and luxurious hotels. Visitors can also conveniently hop from island to island to experience just about any climate and adventure under the sun, including kayaking, mountain climbing, surfing, scuba, and even hiking in a rainforest.
MEXICO - From the Yucatan peninsula to the Pacific Coast, Mexico is romantic, adventurous, and laidback. Reasonably priced attractions and an easy-to-reach location make a Mexico vacation hard to beat. Honeymooners will enjoy a wide variety of activities, including water sports, horseback riding, diving, and touring ancient Mexican ruins.
THE CARIBBEAN - The islands of the Caribbean have long been favorites for honeymooners. While a few are mentioned below, a honeymoon travel consultant will help you with destination materials to help you choose the perfect spot.
BAHAMAS - With over 700 separate islands, you'll find numerous resorts with all the water sports, pampering, night clubs, fine dining, casinos, and beaches you could possibly want. Many amazing islands in the Bahamas can also be visited easily in one trip by booking a cruise. If you're seeking a truly romantic paradise for your upcoming honeymoon, look closely at the Bahamas.
JAMAICA - If you're eager to just get away and relax after hectic wedding planning, Jamaica is the place to be. From famous reggae music festivals to beautiful shorelines, it's easy to get into the Jamaican state of mind. Stay on the island in a luxurious resort or visit for a couple of hours on a cruise ship stop, Jamaica's culture of fun, sun, and romance will make you feel welcome.
BERMUDA - Bermuda is truly a hooneymooner's delight, and couples can rent a moped or take public transportation to see all the sights. With its array of ocean activities and charming historic towns, Bermuda provides a romantic and mysterious escape.
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS - Filled with sailing, snorkeling, sports fishing, and tons of shopping, honeymooners have long been attracted to the Virgin Islands for an active escape.
TAHITI AND THE SOUTH PACIFIC - These islands are increasingly popular destinations for those seeking an exclusive honeymoon experience and are the closest most couples ever get to a private island retreat. Opt to stay in traditional style bur←s, some of which are directly over the water, to take advantage of the unparalleled views.
CONTINENTAL U.S. - California offers marvels ranging from San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge to the glamour of Hollywood. Las Vegas always draws a lively crowd. World-class hotels, casinos, entertainment, and shopping venues gives honeymooners an exciting vacation from home. New York, Florida, and Colorado are also popular destinations for honeymooners, as they offer fun and romantic tourist attractions that welcome visitors year-round.
EUROPE - Always high on honeymooners' lists, in part because of the distinctiveness of each country. From the majestic views of the snow-covered Alps to the Eiffel tower in Paris, Europe is filled with unforgettable history and romance.
AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND - If you're looking for outdoor adventure both above and below the ocean bed, you'll love the exceptional beauty of these lands. From snorkeling and scuba diving to bush treks and mountain climbing, honeymooners won't find any more high-energy activities than these locations offer.

Hints and Tips as Bridal Expo Season Approaches

Gathering Information During Expo Season

As the Bridal Expo approaches, I want to offer my help and advice. It is exciting to meet vendors, comparing prices and services. I absolutely encourage this, as it will help you brain-storm ideas for your big day. It's also a great way for the bride and the mother-of-the-bride to discuss their opinions, and come to an accord.

1) Get fuel:
Remember to take snacks and bottled water to any Expo. It will take you two to five hours to get through, especially if you stay for a fashion show. You'll need your energy.

2) Stay organized:
Have and alphabetized accordian file to slip information into, sort by vendor name, or sort by type of services; florists, caterers, bakeries, bridal salons/apparel, photographers, musicians, planners etc.

3) Two's company:
Take your groom. Drag him, entice him with food, promise him a full afternoon of football with no interuptions, just get him there. By making the expo a date, he'll 1) understand how much work there is to do 2) in understanding, he'll appreciate you more 3) Guys are visual. Seeing details, in person, will help him to communicate what is important to him as the two of you plan your wedding.

4) Pace yourself:
Plan on going to the 1st day of the bridal show. Remember, most expos are 2 day events. If you are overwhelmed, or pressed for time the first day, you can come back the second day.

5) You're not alone:
As you collect business cards and file away brochures, please remember that there are professional consultants who can help you. After you've looked around on your own, even if you've picked just the right florist, or the perfect dress, there is still SO MUCH to do: negociate contracts, choose a theme or colors, book locations, find a caterer and menu, meet with cake creator, set up timelines and budgets, decide on a photography package, select and send invitations, outfit the wedding party, purchase gifts, arrange travel plans, and much more. Seeing to all the details is both joyful and STRESSFUL, it's great to have a professional help you.

6) Have fun! Your planning the biggest, best party of your life... leading to the most important moment of you life. Celebrate together.

Call me if you need help. I'd love to be of service.

See you at the Tacoma Fall Bridal Expo, September 8-9!

Fine letterpress is so beautiful! The new engraved?

We love letterpress printing. And, with the increases in costs of production for digital and thermography, it honestly does not cost that much more money for letterpress invitations depending on the cardstock you select.

Letterpress is often called the new engraved, and unlike engraved, letterpress is not exactly like each other invitation. Depending on how the rivulets of ink are pressed into the stock, there is the slighest variation in each one, therefore making letterpress ART.

Write us today with your questions about your first appointment with us.

Which Wedding Ring is Best for me?

Platinum, Palladium, White Gold, or Titanium?

Platinum - Platinum is a precious metal that is naturally white. Platinum contains no yellow color hue or alloys that turn the metal off-white. This makes it a good choice for someone who wants a white wedding band. A plain platinum mens wedding band can be well over $1,000. Platinum is extremely dense, thus causing a wedding band made of platinum to be very heavy. Platinum is hypoallergenic. Most platinum bands are either 90% or 95% pure platinum. For guys who are allergic to the alloys in white or yellow gold, platinum is a good choice. Platinum is also very malleable. This is great for intricate filigree details in ladies antique styled rings. But this can be a detriment if you are wearing a mans plain wedding band of platinum. The softness of the metal will allow the ring to become very scratched, dented and old looking in very short time. Because of this you will want to remove it before doing manual labor or working out with weights.

Palladium Palladium, a platinum group metal, is a precious metal that is naturally white in color. Palladium is a bright white metal, actually brighter than white gold or platinum. It has similar properties as platinum. A palladium ring will not tarnish into a yellowish tint. Palladium is 30 times more rare than gold, but at this time much less expensive. The current selling price is $333 per ounce. (September 9, 2006). So a palladium ring will be much less expensive than a platinum ring, and generally less than a white gold ring. Palladium rings are much lighter in weight than platinum rings. Palladium is pure. Most palladium rings are hypoallergenic.

White Gold The natural color of gold is yellow. To get a 14kt white gold ring the manufacturer will take 58% gold and mix with 42% of white metal allows, such as nickel. This blend ends up being a white-ish color. To get a true white color the manufacturer will rhodium plate the ring. However, in short time the rhodium plating wears off and the true color is visible. Currently .999 fine gold is selling for $611 per ounce. (September 8, 2006) Most wedding bands will be either 14k (58% pure gold) or 18k (75% pure gold). Gold is a soft metal. If the gold ring hard it will bend and possibly crack. Although not as soft as platinum, a gold ring will scratch easily and over time the ring will wear away.

Titanium Titanium in its natural color is a light gray. It can be high polished to achieve a very shiny reflective look. When a textured finish is applied to titanium it darkens the color. Titanium is extremely lightweight, about as light as aluminum. Titanium is incredibly strong Titanium is incredibly strong. Titanium rings can take a ton of abuse. You can hit it with a hammer and it doesnt bend or break. If you did this with a platinum, palladium, or gold ring it would severely damage the ring. You will never wear out your titanium ring. Even though your titanium ring will last forever, it will scratch with normal wear. A local jeweler can easily refinish a titanium ring for a nominal fee. Because of its light weight and incredible strength, titanium is a great choice for a tension set diamond ring. Titanium is totally inert. It does not react to body chemistry. (It is even used inside the body for hip and joint replacements.) So if you are allergic, a titanium ring may be for you. Titanium can be combined with white gold, yellow gold or platinum to create a more elaborate look. Titanium rings are very affordable, with basic styles selling for around $100.

Hopefully, the following information will be helpful in your exciting search for the perfect wedding ring or wedding band for you.

A Message to the Groom: How Does the Groom Stand Out on the Wedding Day?

I read an article today about how the groom can stand out. It was anti-climactic, outlining the basics, that any wedding planner or fine men's wear shop should already know. 1) Choose a subtly different tux/suit from the groom's men 2) Have a slightly different, perhaps "fancier" boutonniere 3) Wear a different color or style of tie 4) Wear a different color or style of vest/cummerbund. While these are all simple, effective ways of having your attire stand out, I was hoping for some advise with more substance.

I firmly believe a wedding isn't just about how everyone/everything looks. There needs to be depth. After all, this is an emotional, romantic day about two individuals making a meaningful, life-long commitment to be a loving couple. Perhaps the groom should stand out, not only by his attire, but by his actions. Lovely, sweet gestures, planned by the man have incredible value.

Here are some ideas that show how the grooms actions speak louder that men's wear. 1) Order your bride a special flower arrangement for the big day. Have it placed in her ready-room with sparkling cider (or champagne), and a personal love note from you. 2) Before or after the rehearsal dinner, steal some time by planning a mini romantic get-away to a favorite spot, have a picnic waiting, and propose a toast to your bride & your lives together 3) Plan the honeymoon & fill it with personal touches. Example: write a note for each day youll be away and have one delivered to your hotel room, with a single red rose, each morning. 4) At your reception, surprise her with a slide show of your lives before each other & after meeting 5) Dont just thank the guests for coming when you offer a toast at the reception. Thank your new wife for choosing you.

Finally, remember this isnt just a day. This is THE day you start the rest of your life with the woman you love. Make it count!

Besides being Prince Charming, the Groom is also friend, counselor, & partner. Make a meaningful mark at your wedding and start your marriage off right!

Flower Safety!!!DC/MD/VA

UPDATE JUNE 18, 2007

Last week Pam made a Tropical Wedding Bouquet for one of her brides. Well...it seems it was a huge hit among the almost married and we are getting many request to see what it looks like.
As some of you may know...most of our flowers are not purchased
through the local floral wholesalers. Since we have an import/export
license and are well known by some of the best flower growing farms in the world,we have the ability to go to them directly.
How does this benefit you? Well...here's how. In two words, "FRESHNESS" and "SAFETY." Since we buy our flowers from places like Equador, Columbia, Isrial, Holland and Thailand...because they do not use the chemicals that growers use in the US. We know they have been cut from the vine in most cases a day or two before they arrive to our store. Unlike some wholesalers do which is to "Ice Pack" them...we know for certain the age of the cut flower. Ice packing can add weeks to the age of a flower...this is why some re sellers flowers just won't hold up past the ceremony.

As for "SAFETY" ...well, the health and well being of our clients are a "Prime Directive" and...issues such as allergies to certain chemicals can be a problem to someone who is or may be unaware of a reaction to a flower once it's been cut, packaged and delivered. Not all flowers are safe to handle. If you want more information on florals that may present problems at events don't hesitate to contact Ms. Pomela.

Now...want to see this "stunning" bouquet...? click the link below

http://www.myultimateaffair.citymax.com/page/page/4667993.htm

The reason for this is if I havea problem with chemicals so may you in the long run, recently, had a bride who had ordered some items off line, and had a reaction to some of the dyes used in her even silk flowers,we do not dye or paint our flowers, hope this helps some brides out there.

Much Happiness

What type of Ring will you choose?

Planning a wedding is really no piece of cake! On my long journey of becoming engaged to walking down the isle, I can tell you it has been no easy task! With all the excitement at this important time of my life I had no idea what I was getting myself into! I didn't even know where to start! I know that there must be some new brides out there that would agree with me! I must say in this day and age there is the relief of the Internet where we can find a lot of how to's tip and tricks that can save us time and money. I would like to share with anyone that is experiencing the whirl wind of planning a wedding that choosing rings can be a tough decision I suppose if your fiance and you have an idea and discussed this subject you came to some decision on what ring you both want to wear on your fingers for the rest of your lives together. We did some major research on the subject of different metals, styles and compatibility of our lifestyles. We found an excellent jewelry store online that helped us make an informative and conscious decision on our first very important purchase. We came to an agreement of purchasing these beautiful titanium rings. The reason was so simple. The beautiful quality, durability and elegance of these rings are intended to last a lifetime. I would suggest to learn as much as you can about all the choices of metals, stones, and styles that will mesh well with you and your future partner.

All my Best to you!

New CD to be released in August

After listening to our demo CD, many of you have asked if we have a CD of full length songs. The answer has been no, until now. In July we are going into the studio to record, and our CD of full length wedding pieces will be released in August. In addition, we will also be expanding our samples to represent a wider variety of music, including jazz standards, more reception music, holiday and popular songs. Look for this in August!

3 Keys for creating a truly exquisite wedding!

As you go thru the steps to plan the most important day of your life, realize that the keys to planning and executing a successful event lie within these 3 concepts:

1. Personalization - What activities do you and your fiance enjoy? What defines you as a couple? How do you as individuals complement one another? Your answers to these questions will be helpful tools as you create your event. These ideas will speak to your guests and tell them this is who we are as individuals and this is who we are together! The special details that you incorporate into your wedding will give it a special feeling and make it truly one of a kind!

2. Creativity - Be creative when planning your event! If you aren't so hot at thinking outside the box, enlist the help of a family member or an event planner. It is a planners job to take the qualities and personalities of the couple and work them into an event that epitomizes the couple! A planner may seem like an unnecessary expense at the get go, but on your wedding day when you can actually sit back, relax and take in the day, you will be incredibly thankful!

3. Remember the BIG PICTURE!

No matter what happens on your wedding day (other than the bride or groom getting cold feet) keep in mind the reason you are there! So what if the cake melts in the heat, so what if the best man forgets the rings, so what if crazy auntie has a little too much bubbly! The unexpected things are bound to happen! Just go with the flow, laugh a little, look into your new husbands eyes, and think about the love that brought you this far. It is how you handle these little bumbs in the road that will define your marriage!

Using a travel agent.

Did you know more and more people are coming back to travel agents, when booking their trips. According to June 07 Smart Money Magazine, travelers are using agents because they have inside information, can save travelers time, and in many cases money. Not only that but they can often get rooms when the internet companies can't. I know that customers who use me get to talk with a real person, get great personal service, and I have saved couples quite a bit of time and frustration. Along with that I add some extras that agents in my area don't and you certainly won't get from an internet service. Ifyuo are planning your honeymoon, seriously consider using a professional travel agent. If you are in the Wisconsin area, call me at (414) 315-8747.

Just to let you know I received the ring today, your customer service was outstanding. Aja got back to me (email) with all my questions within the hour, and was very helpful in helping me make up my mind which ring to buy. I did allot of research about the tungsten ring, and your company was the BEST to buy from off the Internet, so far it's been a pleasure buying from you.

Hope to buy from you again in the future.

* Finding something different
I was able to find just what I wanted - something different for a wedding band. I called the store because I didn't have his ring size, and within a day or two, there was a complete ring size guide in my mailbox. I placed my order on line, and was able to track shipping for its arrival. The ring arrived beautifully packaged. We both love the ring! I am thinking of getting something for me...

Your quality and service should be known for those who are skeptical doing business on line.

Thanks again,

Tips on selecting your Hawaii Wedding Planner

You've searched the internet and now you've narrowed down your selections, but just how do you go about selecting your Hawaii wedding planner?

In addition to the usual list of questions that you may find from the many "wedding worksheets or questionnaires" some other factors for you to consider are:

1) How responsive are they?
2) What is their background and experience level?
3) Are they listening to what you want or giving you their ideas?
4) Does their pricing work with your budget?
5) Ask about examples of how they may "trouble shoot" at an event.
6) Do they have a calming presence and make you feel better after talking to them, or do you feel more stressed out than ever?
7) When discussing your event or budget is honest feedback provided or is everything "no problem, we can do that?"

Planning should be a fun and exciting time for you!

Titanium Ring Stops Bullet!

This is a TRUE story that I just had to share with you.

One of our customers, David Bradshore, received a titanium and sterling silver ring as a gift. Here's where the story gets pretty interesting. While wearing the titanium ring on his ring finger, he was handling a firearm and it accidently discharged. That's right, the gun went off and shot his hand wearing the titanium ring. Horribly, the bullet tore through and severed his pinky finger. But to the amazement of David, our titanium ring stopped the bullet from doing more damage to the rest of the hand. It stopped the bullet dead in tracks, it saved his ring finger!

Furthermore, when David took the ring off there was absolutely no damage at all to the ring. It was as if the bullet never touched the ring. Not a dent, ding, nothing. According to David's own words, "not even a scratch". Amazing.

Here's a link to the ring David is wearing. http://www.titanium-jewelry.com/wv2090t.html. Check it out.

So I guess the moral of the story is, protect yourself and your digits with an incredibly strong, indestructible and good looking titanium ring from www.Titanium-Jewelry.com. Don't leave home without it!

Synethesizing Invitations?????

Browsing through your paper trail of insert cards with invitations, one finds the basic invitation and at least a response card. However, what is a bride supposed to do when she needs a menu selection, and a wedding/reception map, directions, and accommodations, and would like a separate reception card.

Believe it or not, we actually put ALL of this on a large card in a pearlized stock that matched the pearlized embosssing on the wedding invitations that was slightly smaller than the invitation card, AND, fits nicely into a gentleman's suit jacket inside pocket or a purse.

We set the reception card type, and drew the map on the front of the card, and included directions to both locations and the hotel(s) on the back, labeling the hotels on the map side of the card.

So, instead of up to 3 more cards, with a larger card, and two sided printing, we got 4 things done.

When it comes to designing and planning, we have included the easiest, and most economical, and taseful printing of the necessary information you need to provide for your guests.

Sincerely,

Brides Beware Of Bluffiness On The Big Day:

J.J. Flizanes, Director of Invisible Fitness prepares Brides for their Big Day in an unusual way. Named Best of the Best Trainer in LA by Elite Travelers Magazine for 2007, J.J. teaches Brides and the Bridal party what parts of their body they need to take on for the type of gowns they will be wearing and what foods to eat to avoid bluffiness on the big day.

Flizanes has a message for Brides and the bridal party: be conscious of your choices in food, exercise and parties for 6 weeks before your big day. J.J. knows first hand how important those last six weeks are when you are on a countdown to a Big Day. Her guidance transformed U.C.L.A. professor Adam Wasson into a Chippendale dancer for TLCs hit show Faking It in a mere six weeks and with Adams bad back to boot. J.J., the founder of Los Angeles based Invisible Fitness takes a different approach to training than most: she trains for results and protects your joints at the same time. When it comes to Brides it is especially important to be present to your actions and environment to avoid injuries and bluffiness, a combination of bloating and puffiness in the face and body from eating the wrong foods at the wrong time.

Whenever there is a big day, weddings, reunions, marathons, graduations or any day that is important, we tend to jump in and overdo to get quick results. That is a surefire prescription for injury or defeat, says J.J. It is totally possible to achieve unbelievable results, if the correct mindset and program is put in place. I know its possible, my clients do it every day.

J.J. shares her recipes for success with Brides-to-Be and the Bridal party by appointment or presentation. Please call 1.800.571.5722. Ten Tips For Looking & Feeling Fit On The Big Day

1. Pick out your favorite outfit that just doesnt fit anymore as a motivator that you were once that size and are determined to get back there.

2. Start logging your food. Even though your wedding day will require a lot of extra planning, the first step in weight loss and not weight gain is to monitor how much is going in your mouth.

3. Buy a heart rate monitor to make sure that your cardio workouts are efficient and effectiveyou do not have time to waste!

4. Take measurements: Weight, body fat, and girth measurements. Done correctly, numbers do not lie. You can chart your progress and success scientifically.

5. Clean out your kitchen and cabinets of all the food you know you shouldnt have. Do not sabotage your success with temptation (especially in those stressful eating times).

6. Outline a variety of food choices that are well balanced and satisfying. Write it or print it out and stick it on your refrigerator. Put one inside your cabinets as well.

7. Schedule your workouts. If you do not make it a part of your day, you will likely find reasons to skip it. Scheduling it, commit to it, and youre more likely honor it.

8. Make sure to get in at least 3 days of resistance training and 4 days of cardio. You want to build muscle to increase your metabolism so you burn more calories at rest. Fit in some calorie blasters on other days. Exercise will also help in dealing with the stress and frenzyuse it to take a break and stay sane.

9. Post pictures of wedding ads and bodies that inspire you to remember why you are working so hard. It is possible to make changes. There is no magicjust hard work!

10. HIRE A TRAINER to keep you motivated and HONEST, not to mention safe and effective. With all the best intentions, an uneducated exerciser can see little results if they make uninformed choices. Find a highly educated and qualified trainer with multiple and current certifications to implement all of these actions.

Flizanes is the director of LA-based Invisible Fitness, Shape magazine's January and September 2003 Featured Trainer, and the former Education Manager of New York Sports Clubs. She was just named the Best Trainer in Los Angeles for 2007 by Elite Traveler Magazine

A certified nutrition specialist who also holds multiple certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), she's been shaping and strengthening clients' bodies for almost a decade. Kickboxing, yoga, weight training, post-rehab, nutrition...She has all the answers to integrating fitness and greater health into any lifestyle.

Hurricane Season, Caribbean honeymoons and cruising

The hurricane season started a few days ago, so what does that mean for vacation travel and honeymoons?

To begin with, the official season is June through November and that's like saying the rainy season in Seattle is September through June. Possibly true, but a bit misleading! The season covers six months of the year to include the earliest recorded storms and the latest recorded storms in weather watching history. Typically the most troublesome months are September & October but weather can be fickle so the season is long...

A typical summer day in the Caribbean starts with clear blue skies, sunshine and 80 degree temperatures. As the day progresses the temperature heads toward 90 and an afternoon breeze comes up keeping things comfortable. By early evening a few clouds appear to provide a beautiful sunset and set the stage for a late night thunderstorm.

Although rainfall can be daily throughout the summer, many vacationers never see a drop. On a recent August trip to the Caribbean it rained every day for 10 days and I never got wet. The biggest inconvenience was drying off my patio chair before enjoying my morning coffee outdoors. As a friend would say, this was a high class problem and I managed...

Because I've been to the Caribbean dozens of times and work with hundreds of honeymoon couples every year I understand the weather worries and can share some advice.

1. If this is your one and only Caribbean vacation and a day of rain would ruin the experience, don't go in September or October.

2. There are Caribbean islands that are outside the typical hurricane belt and these include one of my all time favorites, St Lucia, as well as Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

3. Caribbean cruises are a great choice for iffy weather months because ships move and storms only affect a small area at any given time. If a storm is in the area you might miss a scheduled port of call but your multimillion dollar ship and all 2-3000 guests onboard won't sail within 200 nautical miles of serious weather!

4. When it's hurricane season in the Caribbean the weather is outstanding in Tahiti and Fiji as well as northern Europe.

So call us to help plan the perfect vacation or honeymoon. As travel agents we're on your side! Linda - Totem Travel

Jewelry Trends for 2007

Jewelry Trends for 2007 Weddings

Having worked in the wedding industry now for 5 years and worked in public relations/special events for 10, I can honestly say that this fall wedding season is truly unique. Never before have I seen such a beautiful array of colors and themes. This is truly your time to shine!
With lusciously bold colors setting the stage for 2007 fall weddings, jewelry accessories are definitely following suit. Rich reds, dark browns and warm oranges in subtle styles add the perfect touch to the brides special day. Brides are also continuing to look for unique items to add personal touches their dress as well as the bridesmaid dresses.
This year brides have expressed endearing interest in sentimental mementoes, specifically jewelry passed on from a grandmother or other female relative. These beautiful pieces are being updated to match the contemporary feel of the moment. A sterling silver brooch is being turned into a floating necklace for the perfect strapless evening gown. Baguette diamonds are morphing into golden chandelier earrings to accompany the sweetheart necklines and Grace Kelly up-do. The most important ring maintains the antique feel, yet is contemporary with a vintage appeal.
Custom made necklaces and personalized jewelry enable the bride to hand select her stones and monogram making them truly one-of-kind. Traditional pearls are being accompanied with Swarovski crystal and a few gemstones matching the colors of the wedding theme. These pieces can be worn again with either a little black dress or some jeans and pumps significant reminders of a wonderful day with friends and family. Swarovski crystals are easier on budgets than splurging on diamonds, yet their sparkle is no less significant.
Many brides are selecting sterling silver as a stunning compliment to their black and white color schemes. The warmer fall colors are complimented by matching hues or gold accessories. Gold is making a comeback in dainty bracelets and earrings for bridesmaids. Splashy bolts of color are tying in the entire wedding party, specifically in pearl with ribbon tie necklaces, exquisite clutch purses and matching shoes. True unity in bridal party jewelry completes the affair!
The most important trend for the fall 2007 wedding season is individuality. Each piece of jewelry signifies a part of the personality, history or reflection of the bride. Whether custom made or store bought, the jewelry worn on the wedding day is definitely dramatic, but not overpowering. The gown and the bride are still center stage, accompanied by some stunning jewelry to enhance the marriage celebration.

MagnetStreet Weddings Celebrates 2-year Anniversary!

Dear Brides,
We hope you are enjoying yourselves as you plan for one of the most important days of your life! We know it can become very busy and even overwhelming at times- even if you are having a small wedding. Our encouragement is that you would embrace this time of planning because you are not just planning for one day~ but for always and that makes it special and sacred! This is a milestone in your life and we hope you are savoring every moment of it!

Speaking of milestones, MagnetStreet Weddings is in the midst of celebrating our 2nd anniversary and boy, have we come a long way! A lot has happened over the course of two years; the initial 40 or so Save the Date designs have turned into hundreds~ not to mention the new product lines and the live online chat. MagnetStreet Weddings has also recently introduced a complete line of customizable wedding invitations that use a personal photo and even the option of putting it on a magnet! The whole point is to reflect the unique style that EVERY COUPLE shares no matter if that style leans toward traditional, contemporary or somewhere in between. The entire line is a coordinating collection, individually designed and we would love for you to visit: http://www.magnetstreet.com/store/page/market/517/mloc/p_invitation.html or call us toll free at 800.788.0611 with questions.

We are excited for you as each step taken is bringing you closer to your anticipated day. So, start your planning process early and give yourself plenty of time to find just the right professionals~ ones that you can trust and build a relationship with. What a wonderful time in your life; we hope that you and your fiance are delighting in it!

Tip from a MagnetStreet employee who has gone before you:
Do not have any responsibilities on your actual wedding day. Choose to delegate tasks to loved ones, friends or professionals so that you can focus on being relaxed and calm.
~Sandy M.

Wishing you all the best!

Buy Wholesale Gold Jewelry

Wholesale gold jewelry pieces are readily available online. Some online jewelry stores also allow the customer to make the payment for his choice of wholesale gold jewelry in installments spread over a specified time period.

Jewelry down through the ages has never been the exclusive domain of women. Its true that women used to wear their dowries (as jewelry) so much of gold and jewel work was done for that purpose.

Buying wholesale gold jewelry is a great way to save money and buy affordable gold jewelry. While this strategy might not work out for the individual buyer, group buying of wholesale gold jewelry can get you affordable pieces.

Gold jewelry can be made of yellow, white, tri-color and two tone gold. The gold used can also be of different qualities like 14K, 18K and 22K. Gold is combined with diamonds, rubies, pearls and other precious stones to make stunning jewelry. Wholesale gold jewelry dealers need to source items of all varieties as jewelry resellers need to stock a sizeable variety in order to interest the end customer.

Wholesale gold jewelry pieces are readily available online. Some online jewelry stores also allow the customer to make the payment for his choice of wholesale gold jewelry in installments spread over a specified time period.

Websites of online stores that deal in wholesale jewelry online should feature a wide variety. Prospective customers find it useful if the information is classified and arranged into broad categories. Websites of wholesale jewelry online stores should engage the services of professionals to optimize their website layout, content and other details to ensure steady traffic.

First Friday at Honolulu Art District

Today is the first day of June and First Friday in the Art District of Honolulu. This is our first time to participate in First Friday as a business. We will have a booth at the Small Business Association on the corner of Hotel St.and Nuuanu Av.

We loved the idea of having our business be part of the artistic transformation of the downtown area. In recent years several cafes, art galleries and other small businesses have popped up in the couple of blocks in between the Central Business District and Chinatown.

The area dons the moniker the New Art and Small Business district. We thought it was a great place to plunk our new & fresh way to plan weddings.

Come by and see us if you are in the hood we will be at the booth from 5-9pm

Best Wishes,

Regan

Monogrammed Lined Envelopes?

One of the neatest things we have done over the years, and before it became popular to use monograms on everything was to offer our clients envelopes that are lined in a matching paper with beautiful typography using their first names or a distinct monogram.

When you request a consult with us, you may ask how this would like with your ensemble.
