Do you have a wedding emergency kit?

One of my favorite quotes is "failing to plan is planning to fail." I'm a firm believer that if you take the time you need to do your planning (in whatever is important in your life) you will be successful in anything that you set your mind to.

Having a wedding emergency kit is just one of the many steps that Hawaii Weddings and Events takes in preparation for your wedding day. I couldn't tell you how many times someone needed a safety pin to fix something that broke just minutes before the wedding!

Be prepared for the "unexpected" and everything will be just fine.

Brad & Carley

Fresh back from Maui, I had the opportunity to shoot Brad and Carley traveling all the way from the east coast (New Jersey to be exact). We had two fun sunset evenings of shooting. One on the beach of Lahaina and the other on the secluded beach of Makena. Carley had always dreamt of a Maui wedding, but when family circumstances would not allow, they were officially married on the mainland. She contacted me to help fulfill her dream of her Hawaii wedding.

Want to throw an eco friendly wedding?

Going Green is definitely in right now. You can do a search online and find almost everything you need to help plan your dream wedding while helping our planet. Having an outdoor ceremony will save on electricity. Having a ceremony at one of Washingtons colorful gardens is a great way to have beautiful d←cor with out having decorations to throw away in the end. Using recycled paper for invitations and thank you notes is always a good way to preserve trees and now you can get any look you want. In the Pacific Northwest it is easy to find organic, all natural, and vegetarian caterers. There are even jewelers that use recycled metals. The designs can be earthy creations on your wedding bands.

Make-up Tip for all you summer brides

Hi everyone ~ in case you haven't heard or you don't normally wear a lot of make-up I wanted to share with you.

Weather your skin is near flawless or not, you will most likely want to wear a foundation and or powder for pictures. Be sure your product is mineral based and you will be amazed not only how long the make-up will stay put but how amazingly flawless your skin will appear.

I'm sure there are many good lines on the market but I do know first hand that "Youngblood" works wonders, even in the heat.

Take care and have a great day!

Thinking about winter during the height of summer...

Even though it's a typical Houston summer day outside (hot, sunny and steamy), the thoughts of a band leader are already focused on the fall and winter. With our New Year's job booked, I next start thinking about the benefit and party season.

Fortunately, most of our benefits in the past have been done on weeknights, leaving the all important Saturday nights open for our wedding clients. But, my calendar (kept on a Palm system PDA) is starting to show more and more "red dots" through the season, signifying dates that have already been signed and thus blocked out.

In the old days, when most weddings were planned a year or more in advance, saying "No" to a prospective client because of date conflicts was rare indeed. Now, with the general trends towards six month planning cycles for about half of the ceremonies, conflicts have become much more common.

No band leader (and certainly none of his musicians or vocalists) wants to say that they can't do a job. But, sooner or later, it's going to happen. The best advice that I can give is, if you want a particular style of musical group for your reception, your third thought (after securing the ceremony and reception locations) should be about booking your musical group. Push comes to shove, they can only be in one place at one time, and ideally you want that place to be with you!

Budget Basics for the Newly Engaged.

There are several aspects to beginning a financial plan. Three of the main elements for establishing a budget are: prioritizing, research and communication.
The "priorities" part consists of determining the areas of you celebration that are most important to the two of you, and ranking them. An example would be: #1 attire (the dress), #2 Catering (your guests) #3 Photography (your memories) #4 Floral (the setting).
The research part starts by gathering quotes. For instance, and experienced caterer should be able to get you a basic proposal within 2-3 days of contacting them with your event information. Be sure you ask them to include any services charges, rentals & taxes. Many vendors (photographers, musicians, and limo companies) have package pricing on their websites. By doing a little homework, you can get a clearer picture of what costs what.
It is so important to, communicate! You and your fianc← should talk about what you really want to stand firm on, and what elements are flexible. Really listen to each other. Planning your wedding a great practice round for planning a life together.
Other elements are: who is paying for what, what are you willing to give up if you start to run over, and what kinds of resources you have. In dividing up the financial responsibility, often youll need to bring family into the conversation. Included at the bottom of this entry is the traditional list of whos responsible for what. As you approach the big day, its common to run over budget. If you discussed ahead of time your must haves, its easier to eliminate or scale down some of the less crucial elements. Maybe your sliver vased orchid centerpieces become glass & candles, or his Armani tux becomes a linen suit. Its possible to adjust, without losing site of your vision. Also, dont forget about personal resources. You may have a friend whos photography hobby has grown enough to look semi-professional. Perhaps theres an aunt with enough sewing & crafting expertise to take care of the ring bearer pillow & unity candle. You probably have a business colleague whod do a great job on printing needs. Dont be afraid to ask.
Finally, keep your goal in sight. At the end of the wedding day journey, all the glitz and sparkle is really about beginning a journey of a lifetime. Recently I had a bride say to me, All I need is my fianc←, a minister and a witness. I just want to be his wife. She had her priorities straight.

Traditional Financial Responsibilites
Ceremony
Bride and family pay for church or synagogue, sexton, organist, etc.
Your budget will determine the type of wedding you will have, so it should be one of the first things you tackle. Groom and family pay for marriage license and officiant's fee.
Clothes
Bride and family pay for bride's dress, veil, accessories, and trousseau (read: lingerie and honeymoon clothes). Groom and family pay for groom's outfit. All attendants pay for their own clothing (including shoes).
Flowers
Bride and family pay for arrangements for church (including huppah if a Jewish ceremony) and reception, plus bouquets and corsages for bridesmaids and flower girls. Groom and family pay for bride's bouquet and going-away corsage, boutonnieres for men, and corsages for mothers and grandmothers.
Honeymoon
Groom and family pay for complete honeymoon.
Photography
Bride and family pay for all wedding photos and video.
Prewedding Parties
Bride or groom's family plans and hosts engagement party; if there is more than one, bride's family hosts the first one. Groom's family plans and hosts the rehearsal dinner. Bride plans and hosts bridesmaids' luncheon. Groom hosts and plans bachelors' dinner. Maid of honor and bridesmaids host shower. Best man and ushers host bachelor party. Friends may throw additional engagement parties or showers.
Reception

Our intimate las vegas wedding ceremony a great experience!

After endless research for the perfect memorable wedding chapel/ceromony for just the 2 of us..this was perfect!
We got married 1 July 2006. Everything from start to finish
was top notch! I am a travel agent and would recommend
this chapel to anyone. As previously stated in other reviews
the Greek Isle Hotel is definately a tacky looking hotel from
the outside. Our first impression was..hmmm did we book
they right chapel??? Once you get inside & The Princess
Wedding Chapel people take over! The chapel is the best
part of this hotel, we were very pleased to see it was what
we hoped for. The photographer Gerry was just a hoot,
he took great pictures and we paid the extra to get the
CD with all the pictures and the rights. So be prepared
to pay the extra cost, unless you already have it included
in your package. We opted out on the Video. We had so much
fun with absolutely NO STRESS and that was the best part!

Beautiful Chapel

Although we were somewhat hesitant to choose the Princess Chapel because of its less than desirable location inside the Greek Isles we were pleasantly surprised. Everything went as planned and the chapel is absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a beautiful chapel that is very affordable I would not hesitate to recommend the Princess. Just be forewarned that the Greek Isles is not in any way a nice upscale hotel and is pretty rough around the edges. When we arrived at the hotel we started to wonder if we had made a mistake in choosing the Princess but once you get to the chapel, it is very beautiful.

Unforgettable Wedding in Las Vegas at the Princess!

I just wanted to say how happy and satisfied I am with all that you promised. From the moment I walked in, Karen was nothing but professional, leaving nothing to chance and making great suggestions. Although I do not rememeber all of the staffs names, many of them were very helpful and considerate. I was the bride who needed to borrow a veil at the last moment and you came through for me. I was apprehensive thinking sure you are nice now but after I pay you&whoa. I have already had a few people ask me for the name of your estalishment. I am lucky to have won enough money to be able to buy the enitre photo collection which was so great how could anyone choose just 12. Again, Ill be sure to praise your business and thank you again for a wonderful day.

7-7-7 wedding in La Dolce Vita chapel

Hi,

I wanted to let you know that our wedding was absolutely perfect! We got married on 7-7-7 so it was quite a busy day, but everything went as smooth as silk&We were knocked out by the beauty of the chapel, the way it was decorated, the minister, the photographer, the staff, everything. It could not have been more magical and special. All of our guests commented on the beauty of the event. Thank you for a perfect day.

Tips for the best Spray Tan Results

Many people are interested in the UV Free Spray Booth because it offers instant results. It's important to know how to best prepare for the ultimate results. First of all, I do not recommend going into the Instant Tan Spray Booth for the first time just before the Big Day. I recommend going in for at least one "practice session" at least two weeks in advance. This will allow you to get comfortable with the booth and the process and allow time for you to have one more session before the wedding to get best results. To best prepare before you come in for a session in the Instant Tan Spray Booth, consider the following:
1. Exfoliate the night before. Dry areas attract the Instant Tan solution and you may see buildup without a thorough exfolation.

2. Moisturize the night before. This will help your skin be in great condition to ensure a nice all over, even result

3. Do NOT put any makeup, moisturizer, perfumes, deoderants, etc on your body the day you come in for the Instant Tan session. Putting these items on before your session can cause an uneven result.

I hope these tips are helpful and please contact us or stop by if you have any questions.

Merging your life is one thing...Merging your credit is another.

Getting married is a big step. You both will have more that just name changes in your future you will have financial changes. I have found that many people do not know what their own credit score is let alone the score of their husband or wife to be. It is important to sit down and review your financial history and goals together. This would also be an ideal time to put together a budget to accomplish those goals. Why different grades of Titanium?

No doubt you have noticed that there are many different grades of titanium jewelry on the market. Most titanium jewelry products being sold are some type of alloyed titanium - not pure titanium. We use a commercially pure (CP) grade of titanium. Within the CP category the most popular are grades 1 through 4. CP Grade 1 is the softest and Grade 4 is the hardest. The primary difference between the grades is the quantity of Oxygen, the addition of which creates the increases in hardness. We use CP Grade 2 in all of our gray titanium products. We found it to be the ideal balance between titanium's hardness and workability. It can be cut off, refinished, and engraved, yet it is resistant to marring and polishes well. Titanium provides the stylish rich grey tones of platinum at a much more attractive price. Many designers such as Edward Mirell are designing fashion forward cutting edges styles for titanium jewelry. Titanium is at the forefront in the designer jewelry community. No other metal has experienced such a dramatic rise in popularity as titanium. It is no wonder that many brides and grooms are choosing titanium wedding rings to wear as a symbol of their life time commitment to each other.

4 IMPORTANT TIPS TO READ WHEN STARTING OUT!!

Youve just got engaged after waiting and waiting for him to ask you, and now full of excitement - you rush into your planning without even thinking about the 4 most important tips.

1. Dont Rush! Control your excitement, and enjoy being newly engaged. The two of you need to think about the logistics of planning your wedding day. We advise to hold off on planning for at least 2 weeks then plan.
2. The Big Picture Envision the kind of wedding outdoor/indoor, destination, or the season once selected, your colors, d←cor, flowers, and food will all fall into place.
3. Create your Wants and Needs List. The needs list should consist of having a venue and things like a good photographer. The want lists are items that you want personalized - like your centerpieces and napkins.
4. Budget! Knowing your allowance per service is very important. Sit down together and work out how much you have to spend and where you want to spend it. Couples tend to make poor choices - falling in love with a favorite location and not being able to afford other wedding necessities can imperfect your day.

Our best advice is to follow these 4 tips. Remember not to spend, put down deposits, or select venues until youve done your homework. Be true to your budget!

At Lumina, we are also great wedding planners, and have helped couples find and plan their wedding day according to their budget.

We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding daydreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at weddings@luminaphotography.com.

Hawaii Weddings and Events - "Going Green" - one of the latest trends

Dianna K. Shitanishi, CPCE, CMP is currently attending the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) Educational Conference in Houston, Texas which offers continued education for catering and event professionals.

"Going Green" is not only a trend in the catering and meeting industry with conference materials posted on-line, printed materials on recycled paper and recycling stations, but is also one of the fastest growing trends in the wedding industry.

Examples of going "green" include:

Choosing either a bridal gown or bridesmaids dresses that may be worn again to parties.

Organized car pools or transportation to reduce the number of vehicles transporting guests.

Having ceremony and reception in one location.

Enjoying locally grown organic food.

Using fine china and linen napkins instead of throwaways.

Making a donation to a charity in the name of your guests instead of having favors.

Using recycled paper for invitations and placecards.

Using websites for posting information for guests versus printed materials.

Re-use ceremony florals for ceremony or potted plants versus flowers.

Using natural backdrops

Decorate with locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Using fans instead of bouquets for bridesmaids.

Acoustic music

Digital photography over film.

Celebrating a wedding with global awareness is a satisfying way to begin a life of commitment together and also an important way for all of us to provide even more environmentally correct business practices.

A Little Blue? It's Expected on Your Wedding Day.

In keeping with the theme of ways to add personal touches to your big day, I'm addressing a long standing tradition and offering some fresh ways to approach it.

Something Blue
... represents loyalty and faithfulness. This symbolism dates back to Biblical times, when blue stood for purity and constancy. Brides often choose to wear a blue garter to keep with this tradition or blue ribbons in their hair. If you want to strive for a more unique way to honor this tradition, Violets represent loyalty and faithfulness, and can be incorporated into your bouquet, or pressed and put in a locket. Offering Personalized Violet Flower Seed Favors to wedding guests ties in nicely with this theme (Forget-Me-Nots are another romantic option for this spin on blue). Another stylish and tasteful trend to arise lately is blue silk emboidery on the dress itself... this allows you to bring together "something new" and "something blue". I recently saw a fun-loving bride who had her shoes dyed a pale shade of turquoise. It was a singularly unique and light-hearted surprise under a very elegant and traditional dress.

Remember that your wedding day is a celebration, as well as a serious commitment. Infuse your choices with joy and personality. This will make the experience memorable for, not only you and the groom, but for the guests who come to witness the occasion & support you in your lives together.

What to look for when hiring a DJ for your special event!

After hearing numerous horror stories from people about terrible DJs;
I decided to create a Blog to help folks (especially Brides-2-B) in
their search to hire a Disc Jockey. Now, I'm not the best writer around
(I'm way better at DJing:); but I just wanted to do something that might
save somebody a lot of grief on their wedding day. Check it out; maybe it
will help you in your search to hire the right DJ for your event
(regardless whether it's me or someone else). Hope you find this useful.

I'm sure most people have heard that
a good or bad Disc Jockey can make
or break (as in ruin) just about any event.
So it really pays to do your homework and
know what to look for when you go shopping
around for a DJ for your special event.

It never ceases to amaze me that most folks
will pay more attention to, and be willing to
spend more money on, other aspects of a
typical event; such as catering, photographers,
venues...etc. But when it comes to the DJ;
the source of entertainment; the person that
is going to be responsible for all the
announcements, introductions, and overall
tempo of the event; it becomes almost an
afterthought. A vendor that some people
will try to save money on; after already
spending so much on the catering and
the photographers. BIG MISTAKE!!!

After all when it's all said and done just
what do you think most people are going
to remember the most about the wedding,
anniversary, birthday or whatever event
it was that they attended? Sure they'll
remember how beautiful the bride looked
and how nice the ceremony was. But will
they really remember and think fondly
about the food that was served
(well maybe, if it's that good:) or the
photographer that was taking pictures?
I don't think so. But what they will
remember, is the good time they had
dancing to all their favorite tunes.
They will remember that the
DJ created a fun, festive atmosphere;
and they were compelled to dance to
the great music that he or she played.
They'll remember that this DJ welcomed
and actually played their request.
That he/she was all over the place
interacting with the guest; making
them feel important by including them
in the festivities, and making him or
herself accessible to them.

These attributes (and more) are all
important aspects of being a good DJ
and entertainer. So what does it take
to find the right DJ for your important
event? It takes knowledge and
understanding of just what a DJ does,
or better yet, should do in order to
make any event a fun & memorable
experience for all those in attendance.
You should always ask for, and check
references (word of mouth is also good).
And more importantly personally
interview and get a feel for the person
that is going to act as DJ/Emcee for
your event. Do not shop or hire a DJ
solely on the basis of price. I know it's
so cliche` to say this, but in this business,
as is true for most products & services.....
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!

Another important thing that a good DJ
should do for you, is help you plan and
organize your event. For example,
the planning for any announcements,
introductions, and most importantly
the timing of all the above.
The DJ should provide you with either
paperwork or online tools for making
a outline of the chain of events that
happens at most functions.
Sort of a guideline for the DJ to follow;
as well as to communicate any needed
instructions to the caterers or staff at
the venue. He should also be able to
share any unique knowledge and
creative ideas he has with you
based on his years of experience.
If he's been in this business for a while,
and done many different types of events,
then he should have all kinds of thoughts
and ideas on this matter; and be willing
to share them with you.

An event such as wedding is just too
important to cut corners when it
comes to an area where most of the focus
(aside from the Bride & Groom) is going
to be directed to. On that same note,
a good wedding DJ should control &
direct most of that focus not at himself,
but towards the Bride & Groom.
After all, it is their day and the very
reason why everyone is there to begin
with; therefore they should be the focus
of all the attention .

So do yourself a favor do your homework
and know exactly what it is your looking
for in a Disc Jockey for your special event.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of
any help in advising or planning for your
event. Whether your looking to hire me or not;
I will be glad to advise and help you in any
way that I can.

Sincerely,

Jaime Z. (aka DJ Z-BOP:-)

The Legend of Mahana Maui

In the ancient times of aeons past,
in the Land of Mu,
far before the waters rose,
and created the Islands of Hawaii,

Existed a Goddess,
of supreme beauty, grace, and heavenly light.
The most radiant of all Heavenly Creatures...
Her name was Areyla, the Goddess of the Rainbow Light.

Each day, she would gaze upon Her Beloved,
Aravai, God of the Sacred Sea,
As He would playfully dance upon
the crystiline shores of Ancient Mu.

Areyla longed to be with Her Beloved,
yet, alas, She could not,
for She was a Goddess of Heaven,
and He was a God of the Earth.

Each morning, before the Sun rose,
the Heavenly Goddess would quietly tip-toe,
down to Earth
to write Her name in sand... Areyla
hoping one day Aravai would see.

The Dream of Areyla came true one day,
and as She gazed upon the ancient shores of Mu,
Aravai saw the name of His Beloved Rainbow Dream Goddess,
and filled the crevaces of Her name,
with the Waters of His True Love.

As Areyla saw this, a tear came to Her eye,
which fell ever so gracefully to Earth.
The Tear of Areyla touched where Aravai filled Her name,
written upon the ancient sand,
and merged with the Ocean of His Love.

Then, through Her perpetual passion and Everlasting Love,
She Gracefully arched Her back, and became the Rainbow,
gently touching the Earth with Her essence,
solidifying in Her name,
in the form of a Laa Nalu,
Sacred Rainbow Waves of Mother of Pearl.

As She appeared,
The Sea God leaped for joy,
His sacred heart leaping forth,
from the mighty depths of the Great Abyss.

Embracing each other,
for the first time, for all eternity,
the Creation of their passion
birthed forth from the blessed land,
as a sacred Pounamu, the mystical Green Stone of Love.

The Love of Areyla and Aravai,
can be found in all Creation.
For all there is,
is Love.

Aloha 'Oe :: May You Be Loved

The Spirit of Aloha (Unconditional Love)
is the True Essence of Magical Hawaii.

In the magical islands of Hawaii, every flower glistens with radiance.

Each raindrop a perfect world of rainbows.

And every sunset, a glorious exaltation
to the Aloha Akua (Divine Love) which gives us not only Mauli ola (breathe of life),
but also the Na `auao (wisdom) to choose to live each day in gratitude.

It is in the Spirit of Aloha that Mahana Maui, LLC offers to you
Lako Ho`onani Male (Ancient Inspired Wedding Jewelry created with Aloha).

Each piece is unique, just like you, and is handcrafted in
these ancient islands to embody Nani Koki (Supreme Beauty)
and Alohi Lani (Brightness of Heaven).

In ancient times, these terms were used to discribe the
Divine Radiance of the Goddess.

As in ancient times, jewelry has been given as an expression of
Gratitude, Love, and Affection.

Mea Aloha is the Beloved, and the Beloved can be your mate,
yourself, or the Divine Love of the Universe.

Each creation of Mahana Maui, LLC is an expression of gratitude
for the Love that Is.

May your Heavenly Radiance be always present as
The Sprirt of the Living Goddess, Akua Wahine,
shines Divine Blessings upon you,
always.

If you can walk, you can dance. Choosing a dance studio

Your wedding is coming up... and you've just realized you don't know how to dance: everyone will be watching& the video is capturing every second -- and (sweat begins to trickle down your back) you really DONT KNOW HOW TO DANCE!

The First Dance has become a special wedding element, and no one wants to look silly, or boring, but you also don't have a lot of time in your schedules, and money is definitely an issue heading towards the most expensive day of your life.

First, don't worry. If you can walk, you can dance.

Next, if you have a special song that you want to use, great; if you know a dancer, ask them what the best style of dance is for your song. If you don't have a specific, special song, it isn't be a problem. You'll find something you like.

Most dance instructors suggest giving yourself six months to prepare. That doesn't mean they are saying you need to take two lessons a week for half a year to do one dance(!), but rather that starting six months before the wedding will give you ample time to, a) check out the options available to you, and b) comfortably learn how to move together, without feeling pressured and under the gun the last few weeks - when you are juggling a thousand other last-minute things.

Wherever you are, there lots of options for learning how to dance but choosing a quality Dance Studio or instructor, or the best fit for you, may take at least a little research. If you shop around and look for the cheapest thing you can find, keep in mind that you generally do get what you pay for - you may learn how to do a few steps, but you might not be learning how to dance. (Have you ever been to a wedding and watched them move like wooden automations while they danced? Yes, they learned the dance, but didn't learn how to dance together, moving as one unit.) Married life is hopefully going to be a wonderful dance together through the years, giving and taking, leading and following. Make that First Dance the perfect symbol, memory and springboard for your future together.

Factors you should keep in mind when you are looking:
Atmosphere:
Are you comfortable talking to the instructor? Are the people in the studio friendly? Is the Studio clean? Are the instructors certified teachers? But the most important factor of all, be sure that you actually like your instructor!

Take advantage of Trial lesson offers, (introductory lessons which are either low cost or free.)

When you are dancing, remember to always have fun! Its the most important thing. Learning a dance and its specific step patterns and rhythms are just tools you use to make the dancing (communication between two bodies) easier. But it is your First Dance! Keep it stress-free, so that you enjoy it!

Video tactics

Ive been in the wedding video business for 16 years now. Ive seen lowball and beneath the belt tactics all over the wedding industry. The biggest is the Rush sell. This is were a vendor trys to rush you into getting their service before time is up. We all know that there is a limited number of clients that you can book. It is a first come first serve basis, but there are always clients.

One of our tactics which is unheard of in the industry is to let you make payments. We do half down with the balance upon delivery or when the video is complete. We offer a 29 business day turn around. Not months or years! And yes we film world wide. And no we dont travel for free but we do a cost only travel so what it costs us thats what it costs you. We dont mark up the DVDs either, you get 7 copies in all our packages.

THE BETTER YOU FEEL, THE BETTER YOU LOOK ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!

Of course you want to look your best on your wedding day! From the early steps of planning your wedding to the confirming of florists, DJs, and caterers, dont forget about your beauty countdown.

Its easy to forget about our personal beauty, as the wedding is near.
Remember these tips for your glowing appearance.

" Exercise months and weeks before your wedding. By exercising, your body will battle stress and improve your overall appearance. Walking, meditation, and yoga are grand stress-busters days before your wedding.
" Get a manicure and pedicure 2 weeks before the big day. Meanwhile, this luxury will help you stay calm and relaxed. The day before head back to the spa for another manicure and pedicure. The second time back at the spa will result in perfect condition hands and feet.
" Soak, soak, soak. Treat yourself to multiple baths; they help with both conditioning your skin and easing the mind. Exfoliation and masking will add additional glow to your face.
" Eat Right! Foods can promote healthy skin. Sorry, avoid the coffee and sweets! Salmon, whole grains, almonds, and certain vegetables are the best and safest pre-wedding foods to eat.

We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding daydreams and how we can help you fulfill them. What is a Mokume Gane Titanium Ring?

Mokume gane titanium rings(pronounced mo-koo-may gah-nay) is an ancient Japanese metalsmithing art, used originally in the production of samurai swords. it literally means wood grain metal. In this process there are alternating layers of contrasting metal, (usually a minimum of 10 20 layers) which are bonded into a single billet and then cut and shaped to form ring material. The result is a beautiful artistic pattern which somewhat resembles a topographic map. Indulge yourself in the ancient art of Japanese metalworking with this stunning collection of Mokume Gane rings. These titanium rings are truly distinct and are available in unique and beautiful patterns at Titanium-Jewelry.com

Thirty six pounds of chocolate

I cater, and in doing that I buy in larger than normal quantities, and I just got an email for FEDEX telling me that I am going to receive a 36 pound package. 36 Pounds of dark, milk, and white chocolate to melt for my chocolate fountains. I was thinking that this would be a chocoholics dream come true, 3 dozen pounds of real Belgium chocolate. It made me giggle. I like to get the good stuff, because honestly fake tasting chocolate tastes like plastic.

To Tan or not to Tan-using UV booths versus a Spray Booth for your wedding

Every bride wants to have a beautiful glow for the big day, right? But, you may not be sure how you want to get that glow. We, at Hollywood Tans, pride ourselves on customizing a tanning regimen for each client. For your wedding day, I recommend two regimens, depending on your preferences.

1. Use this regimen in our top of the line Hollywood Tans booths to get the most incredible glow!
Begin with at least 6 sessions in our powerful HT60 booth. This booth has a max stand time of 8 minutes and provides incredible results, quick!
Move to our High Pressure Booth for at least 4 sessions. This booth provides a deeper, darker tan and has a max stand time of 15 minutes.

Remember, while you are building a tan, it is important not to skip more than one day in between sessions.

Summary: HT60 Booth - 6 sessions then High Pressure Booth - 4 sessions (at least)
This regimen will provide an incredible healthy glow that will make you shine on your wedding day!

2. Our 4.5 second, incredible Instant Tan Spray Booth. This booth is a revolutionary way to get an incredible UV Free Tan that will last 5-7 days. We always recommend coming in for a "practice session" at least two weeks before the big day, so you can do it again the week before. We have some great tips on how best to prepare for a spray tan to get the best results, so don't hesitate to call with questions! More on the Instant Tan in a future blog...

These are two great options; you can also mix them together and do a Double Dip for maximum results! Please contact us to get your customized regimen!

Rehearsal dinner woes, read this.

As a bride this is one area of your wedding you shouldnt stress about. Traditionally the grooms parents host this event, now days it can be anyone even the newlyweds themselves. It can also be anything from a five coarse meal to pizza and beer.

Why should you have one?

1) It can be a nice time for the two families to spend time together before the big day.
2) It is also a good time to give the thank you gifts, grooms men gifts and bridesmaid gifts.
3) It helps relax everyone; its good to have at least one run through before the big day.

Make sure that what ever you decide you and your husband to be enjoy the atmosphere.
Keeping it non-formal can relax family and friends. Having it two nights before the wedding will help relax the whole evening. Giving the night a theme can turn it into a fun event.

Bachelorette Party - and on a budget!

Bachelorette parties can be pretty pricey. For some a $50 dinner and a late night cocktail can be financially out of the question. Whats expensive for a few might not be for the rest.

Best advice take a poll to see what your attendees can swing financially.

Here are 5 low cost ways to make your bachelorette party hot and fun!

￘ SHAKE IT with a striptease class or pole-dancing party
￘ TASTE from your home sip wines and snack on rich cheeses while learning to sample the goods with friends.
￘ GET SEX SAVVY and host a passion party enjoy toys and sex tips while drinking exotic martinis.
￘ INVITE A PSYCHIC to your home for an evening.
￘ MAKE IT A DAY with manicures and pedicures at your local spa then jet to your favorite make up counter with all your girls.

We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding day dreams and how we can help you fulfill them. Getting What You Want

One of the reasons that I decided to become an officiant is because so many brides look back at their wedding and say " if only I had done things differently", or " If only I hadn't tried to please evberyone else, I could have had the ceremony I wanted". As a "Bride" of twenty-nine years, I can share that same thought. What may be the most glorious day in your life as a bride, should not be made subject to the wants and wishes of other family members and friends. Oh, I am not saying that you should disregard thier concerns, but when you meet with the officiant, have a list of what you would like to have included in the ceremony. Perhaps you both share a favorite poet, or a line from a song this could be part of your introduction. If you have chosen a theme for your wedding that you really want, be sure to advise your officiant of that idea as well. Whether it is a religious service or not, formal or informal, you should have everything that you want included, or check out other officiants who will help you create the mood you are looking for. It may last a few minutes or it may take an hour, but that should be up to you. You see, a wedding isn't just a grand reception, great food and a terrific band. The ceremony you create should bring back wonderful, fond memories fro years to come, for everyone who attends. You know people will say, "What a lovely Bride" and you want people to say, "Wasn't that a beautiful ceremony", you deserve that as well.

Budgeting a wedding, pinch a penny until it screams!

This BLOG was taken from a How to Budget website:

When all is said and done, what will you have to show for your wedding day? The rings, the bridal gown, the photo albums, and the videos. The bridal gown will probably be packed away, but you and everybody else will be looking at it in photographs for years.

The rings will be worn for the rest of your married life and the photos and videos will be shared untold times over the decades. Don't skimp on these items. Buy or rent a wedding gown that you like and that looks good on you. Get a professional photographer. Buy good quality rings that you like.

Set Up a Wedding Budget

A budget is absolutely essential in planning your wedding. Costs can easily spiral out of control, and if you don't document them, you may end up paying far more for your wedding than you planned.

Remember that what determines your costs more than anything is the number of guests you invite. Why not keep the list down to people you really care to share the biggest day of your life with?

Be sure to consider all of the details when estimating your costs so that you stay within your budget. Use the Wedding Budget Worksheet to help you estimate and stick to your wedding budget.

One of the most overlooked costs, which can be significant, is tipping. Plan on tipping caterers, limo drivers, photographers, and others 15 to 20% of their total bill if their services are satisfactory.

Who Pays For What?

It also helps to know who traditionally pays for the various functions and features of your wedding. What does the bride's family pay for? What does the groom's family pay for? See Who Pays For What? for details.

What Are the Average Amounts Spent on Each Category?

The average bride spends approximately 40% of her total wedding budget on the caterer (food, cake, and alcohol), 3% on the facilities for the reception, 8% on flowers, 10% on entertainment, 14% on clothing, 7% on a photographer, 4% on invitations and other printed supplies, 4% on gifts, 2% on transportation, and 8% on miscellaneous items.

How Can I Reduce Costs?

How can you reduce costs and still have a beautiful, memorable wedding? Some of the biggest ways to save money are:

Reduce the number of guests
Have a buffet or hors d'oeuvres instead of a sit-down dinner
Have a cash bar, or close the bar during dinner, or have an alcohol-free reception
Consider an off-season wedding (November through April) to reduce costs for the reception site
Consider having your wedding on any day other than Saturday to reduce costs for the reception site
Have a smaller wedding party (number of attendants)

Postage Rates - How higher rates save you money!

Did you Know that while first-class postage rates went from 39 cents to 41 cents for the first ounce, people sending heavier letters such as wedding invitations actually see a reduction in their price? Its because each additional ounce now costs just 17 cents, down from 24 cents. That means a two-ounce letter now costs 58 cents to mail, compared to 63 cents before.
