How to Choose the Wedding Date

My husband and I got married on a holiday weekend and as a result, not everyone we invited could come. I suppose that is the risk we took when we chose to marry on a holiday. Thankfully, we still had a full house. But, as we found out and as you might be realizing now, there is more to choosing a wedding date than just choosing the wedding date.

What if you want to have a theme wedding and specifically, on the fourth of July? What choice do you have if your heart is set on getting married in the church you grew up in and its only available on or near a holiday? What if youre not budging on having an outdoor wedding when the #^&*$ flower is in full bloom~ and that is extremely important to you? Or, what if your fiance' is being deployed on or near a holiday and you want to be married by then?

There are so many variables in choosing your wedding date. Make a list of your "must-haves" and then look into the schedules of your close family members. Check where the holidays and special or religious observances fall on the calendar, consider school vacation dates, etc. before you make your final determination. You may have to be flexible, based on your list of must-haves and choosing your wedding date. No worries, it will come together!

Have you taken advantage of our one time, limited offer of 50 FREE address labels and seals? No purchase required! Offer expires 3/31/08. Dress up your wedding stationery today. To view over 6 dozen labels and seals designs, click over to www.MagnetStreetWeddings.com. See you there.

Got a request to cater a wedding in Hawaii

I got an email from a bride in Hawaii that wanted to know if Serenitea Catering was available to come to Hawaii to cater a wedding. I thought about it for about a second and said "Yes, yes we can." For all out of state weddings we do have a minimum of wedding size to make it happen. There needs to be a minimum of 250 people for us to ship our operation across the water, so if there is anyone looking for a wedding caterer that is willing to fly over water for you, give us a call 253.212.8476

THE ULTIMATE EVENT PLANNER - HAWAII WEDDINGS AND EVENTS

Helping people create their dreams is truly one of the greatest joys in event planning.

The following review was from a bride who had her wedding for 300 guests at The Willows Restaurant. We had two hours to transform the restaurant by removing all of their chairs and bringing in natural wood chiavari chairs, special linens and vibrant colors to enhance the environment.

The following review from my bride, Kristi, was featured on http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Hawaii.Weddings.and.Events.808-782-4514

"I decided to hire a wedding planner because I work a ton of hours and didn't have the time to plan an elaborate wedding. I wanted a wedding planner with a lot of experience and someone I felt confident in that could take my vision, bring it to life, and make it even better than what I envisioned...Dianna did exactly that. Dianna was always punctual, professional, and extremely easy to work with. I think I'm very hard to please but Dianna always seemed to amaze me with her attention to detail, quick follow up, and above and beyond efforts. I never felt worried about my wedding day because of the complete trust and faith I had in Dianna. My wedding was perfect and I had so many people telling me that my wedding was the best wedding they'd ever been to and even months after the wedding, I still have people raving about it. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Dianna and would recommend her to anyone planning an event. Dianna is the best!"

Order your invitations early and avoid production delays

The very busiest months of the year for invitation printers are February, March and April. Production times during these months will be longer than usual due to the high volume of orders. Avoid stress over your invitations and delays in production by ordering before the rush hits.

More and more brides getting married in the off season

Most people take the chance in Washington of having an outdoor wedding on the actual sunny months of June - August, but personally we have been getting quite a few requests for the off season, mostly because it is less expensive to have your wedding from September - March, but rain and colder climates are a new factor to worry about. Personally I like winter weddings, where the silvers, blues, white, and black tones come out in wedding decor. Winter wonderland, new beginnings themes. When picking a date, it should be about your season, not what's trendy, not everyone is going to be a June bride, I was a March one!

A new year with new makeup tips

Your eyes are your personal expression, so on your wedding day define what type of bride you want to be natural, romantic, dramatic, or sultry. Any of these looks need a good base like MAC's fast response eye cream for a soothing and flawless finish. Try Dior Skinflash for a radiant eye opening concealer, your eyes will thank you for it. Color is in the eye of the beholder, choose colors you like and stay in your comfort zone, be careful of trends. You will want to look back 10 years from now and say WOW!

Tacoma Dome wedding expo, aftermath

We had a lot of fun talking to the many, many brides that were on the hunt for their perfect match of style, budget, and creativity. I can honestly say that you will probably get your best deals at expos, I even got my own wedding dress off the $99 dollar rack one year. It was perfect for me, mind you, your dream dress may be a little higher on the price scale, but the vendors at the Tacoma Dome wedding expo offer services that will make your wedding seem seamless. Finding the right dress, DJ, location, food, transportation, honeymoon, or even wedding consultant, you will find them there, or in the book. Advice to brides, compare, shop around, and find the vendors that will make your own wedding, perfect.

Is Classic the trend for 2008?

I'm hearing more and more requests for classic black and white or black, white and gold invitations from brides planning weddings in 2008. The classic black and white invitation can be designed to set the tone for your wedding, whether you want it bold, elegant or understated and simple. It's easy to add a splash of color to your invitation with a simple ribbon or bow.

BRIDES CLUB EXPO - 2008 DATES ARE GOING FAST

Based on the number of hits we've been receiving on our website and the number of new bookings we have confirmed in only 11 days, 2008 wedding season is surely going to be one of the busiest yet! We've already receied three requests this week for 2009 too!

We have been encouraging brides to research their vendors prior to attending the wedding expo and to start securing their dates, otherwise they may find that the vendors they want are not available.

Below you'll find a picture from the last Expo which featured a custom made shadow box table filled with gerber daisies as well as an Asian inspired table. We will not have a booth at this years expo as we have events to attend to as well as appointments with some of our destination brides.

Please check out our profile to see additional pictures from events we had this past year.

How Do I Choose The Right Wedding DJ ?

Congratulations in your Wedding Engagement!

Picking a DJ or Wedding Entertainer is very difficult for couples today, that is why I recommend that you Search for someone you can trust in your heart and who you feel really is compatible with your tastes and vision of your wedding day and not just rely on whom offers the lowest price or who offers the most bells and whistles. Remember to ask as many questions as possible and especially talk or meet with them. We try to answer as many questions on our emails from our brides and grooms, but to be very honest, emails are so not very personable and we highly encourage you to always try to call or meet with your DJ first, so you can get a better feel of their work and experience and most important their personality.

We understand that for most people, choosing a Wedding Entertainer/DJ is often difficult and confusing, yet the most important decision you will make for your wedding reception. Since so many DJ's claims to be "the best", how can you really find out who is good, and who is amateur? For once in a lifetime events like a wedding ceremony or reception, you best start with a professional. Don't take chances with "a friend of a friend." Although people mean well, lack of experience or skill will not prepare them to handle unexpected details, especially a wedding ceremony and reception.

First, I really recommend you start with a wedding specialist. A DJ from a club or school dance may be great, but they're not necessarily right or specialize in weddings.

Second, Meet in person if you can or at least by phone with the DJ or Entertainment Company. This is not a decision that can be made over the Internet, by emails only. You must be sure you are comfortable with the DJ's style , personality and see he or she is a good match for you and your wedding. After all, they will be representing you at your wedding ceremony & reception.

Third, check the history and background of the DJ Company. Do they have references? Have they been featured on television or radio for their DJ work? What makes them stand out as a wedding DJ expert? And don't just take their word for it, call several of their references and find out WHY the client loved their DJ/Entertainer. Watch their videos or audio of samples of their music and Emcee work. Our testimonials & background references are always listed with contact information on our website for Brides & Grooms to view and call .

Fourth, don't make the mistake of choosing a DJ by price alone. If the DJ is not a good fit, but the right price, it won't matter a bit if he ruins your special day that you spent big money and many months of planning. The DJ you choose has only ONE shot at creating the dream wedding for you.

It has been proven that your DJ is responsible for 80% of the success of the wedding. A great wedding DJ will help create the fun and exciting experiences of the day by reading the crowds taste of dancing music, and by helping coordinate and directing the wedding to be a guaranteed success

So, I highly recommend you do your homework in choosing the perfect DJ for the most important day of your life. Please feel free to call or email me if you need some free advice in picking a wedding DJ, I would love to help you at no cost.
Remember, while a Photographer captures the moments of the day , the Wedding DJ Entertainer creates the fun and excitements of day. Which DJs do you want to represent you on your wedding day the Cheesy Budget DJ or the Classy Elegant DJ?

If you need any help free of charge in choosing a Wedding DJ, ideas, locations, or vendors please feel free to contact me, I love to help.

Best Wishes,

Ken Stout
