Finding Your Perfect Place To Wed

Now that you are engaged, you are starting to think about where and when to have your wedding. You have probably already thought about how your dress will look and what colors you like for flowers and bridesmaid dresses. The venue you pick for your ceremony and reception will affect many other decisions. OR you can determine ahead of time what you want for color scheme and style of wedding and then find a location that FITS what you want.

I suggest you ask yourself a few questions before you decide on a venue:

Do you want to have your ceremony and reception at the same location?

How many guests will be coming?

Do you want to marry indoors or outdoors?

What time of year do you want to marry?

Once you know these things, you are one step closer to selecting the right venue for you. Maybe you have already searched online to see what venues are available that fit your criteria. Once you have found a few locations that appeal to you, now ask a few more questions

What will the venue look like at the time of year you are marrying? Which plants, trees or bushes will be blooming at that time?

What is the maximum capacity for the venue?

What are the permanent colors in the space such as walls, carpeting, and maybe even the chair colors? Will these go with the colors you want to have or will the colors clash?

For reception venues, do they have an exclusive in house caterer or do they allow other outside caterers to use their facility?

What is included in the fee to rent the venue? Are tables, chairs, linens or their sound system included? Can you use the whole venue or only certain rooms?

Do they have a preferred vendor list and do you have to use their chosen vendors?

Your budget and timing for the day can be affected by all of the above. When you go and look at a few venues, ask lots of questions before signing a contract.

If you would like a full check list of questions for selecting a venue, call or email me for a complimentary consultation. I offer many wedding services including researching and recommending vendors to brides.

Blue and Brown Color Palette

There is a reason that brown continues to be a mainstay within color schemes. Brown is a deliciously inviting and universal color. The variety of shades allow it to play dominantly in the scheme or subtly as an accent color. Brown is flexible and its softness as a color warms (or neutralizes) pairing fabulously with pinks, purples, golds, yellows, orange-reds, greens...and in this particular inspiration board, blues! A cool favorite are the blue tones... here we have teal and aquamarine dancing with chocolaty goodness. So beautiful with the ivory, white and silver accents to help the board pop with energy and liveliness.

Are you using an inspiration board to get that cohesive look for your wedding that is well-rounded and entails all that you dream for your wedding? Discover your options. Explore the color palette and wedding theme inspiration boards at www.MagnetStreetWeddings.com Visit our wedding blog at www.TrulyEngaging.com for additional resources and tips. Have a suggestion? Leave a comment. We love comments!

BridesClub members... please enjoy 10% discount off your entire online order! Just enter promotional code: WBCTK15 at checkout, that's it. Offer is valid until November 30, 2008.

All the Best,

Greeting Your Wedding Guests

Having all the people you love and care about in one room at your reception is one of the wonderful aspects of your wedding day. Being able to spend time with each of them may be one of the hardest. With some thoughtful planning, you and your new husband will be able to greet each guest and let them know you are grateful they are celebrating with you.

If you aren't planning on a formal receiving line, a great way to make sure that each guest is greeted is to table hop. Hit each table and say hello. This way you'll work the room and make sure no one is missed. Don't forget to introduce your new spouse to any guests they may not have met before.

Pay attention to out of town guest. They went to an extra effort to get there. Make an extra effort to chat with them so they know you appreciate their attendance.

Mingle on the dance floor. Dancing is a perfect time to work your way through groups of people.

In your quest to make your guests feel welcome, don't forget your new spouse. Celebrate and enjoy your reception together.

We'd like to be there to capture all the excitement and energy of your reception. Please check out our website at www.northwest-wedding-photos.com Then call (253)875-9949 or email us for an appointment at dana@northwest-wedding-photos.com

Hints on the Perfect Proposal

A perfect proposal is when a man asks a woman to marry him with a loving heart and desire for a future together. Everything else is secondary to that request. A few hints to make the proposal go smoothly:

Plan to ask her in a location that is special and memorable to you as a couple.
Share your true feelings.
Remember: the marriage should be the focus, not the ring.
If needed, enlist the help of others, i.e. parents, her best friend, or a sibling.

The proposal is the first step in the joyful wedding process, above all, relax and enjoy it.

When you are ready for your FREE engagement photo, please give us a call. We'll capture the moment in an image you'll treasure throughout the years.

Preserving Your Wedding Dress

Few things remain after the wedding besides the memories and the photos. Another thing that remains is your wedding gown. Your wedding gown will be a special reminder of your wedding day if you remember a few easy items:

1. Have your dress professionally dry cleaned as soon after the wedding as possible.
2. Have a family member or wedding attendant be responsible for taking your dress to the cleaners while you are on your honeymoon, if possible.
3. Tell the dry cleaner about any stains or loose stitching. Look inside the dress for stains as well. Makeup may have come off when you put the dress on and took it off.
4. Your dress should be stored in an acid-free box.
5. Store your dress; place it in a dry and temperate place.

Following these steps will ensure that your wedding dress is preserved for years to come.

Check out our website for a coupon that will save you money at our favorite, earth-friendly dry cleaner. www.northwest-wedding-photos.com

When You Want to Write Your Own Vows

For some couples, making the decision to write their own vows may be the easiest part of the task. But the writing itself, may not be so easy.

Why?

Well, many of us haven't written since our school days and when it comes to writing our deepest feelings about our intended partner, it may be easy to be intimidated.

Here are a few ideas:

When you're writing your vows, don't worry about getting everything on paper perfectly right away. A great way to start your creative juices going is to simply write free-form whatever comes into your head. Don’t worry about editing or if something sounds right, just let whatever is in your head and heart flow onto paper.

Once you have written your feelings, go back through what you wrote and edit it. You may find you need to clarify a few points or completely take out some items. Also, you can rearrange your thoughts at this point to create a more cohesive statement.

Keep your thoughts simple when you edit. Your intended isn't expecting Shakespeare; your fiance will simply want to hear your heartfelt vows. Also, be specific. Let them know the exact reasons you feel in love with them and how you envision your daily life to be with them for years to come.

A great way to finalize your vows is to have a trusted friend take a look at them for you. A friend who writes professionally or even just one who enjoys reading, can be a great resource for you.

Your vows will be beautiful and memorable as long as you share what is in your heart.

As your wedding photographer, we'll be there to catch those special moments as you exchange your vows. Please check out our website at www.northwest-wedding-photos.com Then call us at (253)875-9949 or email us for an appointment at dana@northwest-wedding-photos.com

Finding a Wedding Officiant

When searching for the perfect person to join you and your fiance in matrimony, many options are available. Start your search by asking friends and family for referrals. Your other wedding vendors may have a suggestion as well.

If you are planning a religious ceremony, a priest or rabbi from your childhood church or synagogue may be the way you would like to go. Or, if you are going with a non-traditional ceremony, a friend may obtain a minister's license.

Talk with the potential officiant about what type of ceremony he/she will perform. If you are planning on writing your own vows or including readings or a special song, will the officiant incorporate that into the ceremony?

As with any of your wedding vendors, get all the specifics in writing. Include the date of the ceremony, fees, and any special restrictions.

Your wedding officiant should make your wedding day memorable.

And, what better way to remember your ceremony and wedding day then through photographs - we hope you'll think about letting us create those memories with you.

We offer high quality wedding images at an affordable price. Please check out our website at: www.northwest-wedding-photos.com . Then call or email us for an appointment at dana@northwest-wedding-photos.com or (253)875-9949.

Save Money on Your Wedding Flowers

Beautiful wedding flowers are a must have! I totally believe in using professionals to create the most gorgeous bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages for you, your attendants and your family members. But, the decorations and centerpieces... another story. With a little creativity and research, I believe you can be quite thrifty and save a great deal of money on your decorations and centerpieces. Let me explain...

~ Use a venue that will already be decorated because of a special holiday or a major holiday. Of course, inquire into if the colors of the venue and decorations will coordinate with your colors. Some holidays are easier than others i.e. Christmas where you can anticipate the color scheme.

~ Use SEASONAL, LOCAL flowers available in your region. Use a floral generator so you can search for flowers available in your region.

~ Prepare your own arrangements based on flowers you purchase from a wholesaler and create your own centerpieces, pew decorations, etc.

~ Use the natural surroundings: I was married outside in the spring with gorgeous spring blooms all around. I picked (don't you pick...DELEGATE) the most beautiful lilacs the morning of my wedding for the reception table centerpieces. So fragrant. So beautiful. So FREE!

~ Gardens, arboretums, city parks, farms... are naturally decorated and just need a few finishing touches.

~ Flowers for thought: Consider what is blooming in your area. Perhaps softly strewn petals from a most gloriously blossoming tree would be a lovely addition to a walkway or entrance way.

If there are tips for saving on flowers that you would like to share PLEASE DO... share them on www.TrulyEngaging.com, the wedding blog of MagnetStreet Weddings. We love comments!

Obtaining a Marriage License

Obtaining a marriage license for the first time can be intimidating if you don't know what to expect. These pointers on how to make it legal should make the experience as easy as saying, "I do".

Marriage license requirements vary so contact the county clerk in the county you'll be getting married in to find out what is required in that area.
A license may only be used for a certain amount of time so verify how long your local marriage license is valid, it could be anywhere from 30 to 90 days.
When applying for your license, typically both parties must be present with identification.
Some counties require a blood test.
The marriage license should cost anywhere from $25 to $100 so come prepared.
Verify how many witnesses you'll need to sign the document.

Finding a photographer should be just as easy. Check out our website at: www.northwest-wedding-photos.com . Then call or email us for an appointment at dana@northwest-wedding-photos.com or (253)875-9949.

Giving Gifts on the Wedding Day

Exchanging a gift with your fiance on the day of your wedding is a time honored tradition. Beforehand, discuss with your fiance if this is a tradition you will incorporate into your wedding day. If so, finding just the right gift can be difficult -- but with a little thought, the gift can remind you of your exchanging of vows for years to come.

Traditional gifts to exchange are jewelry for her and a watch for him. But you may decide to give something less tradition that has meaning just to you as a couple. A menu from the restaurant you ate at on your first date or a compilation of CDs from your shared favorite singer make great gifts that are specific to your partnership.

Your gift should have meaning to you as a couple -

Your engagement photo will also have special meaning for you and we'd like to be there to help you create it.
