What a special day. Even though I photograph one or two weddings every week, each one is special and unique in its own way, just like each bridal couple.

One thing I always tell each couple is "Have fun!" Don't let the details rob you of what should be one of the most special days of your life. By the time the wedding day rolls around you will have done everything you can do to make it go smoothly. Now, it's time to enjoy the fruits of your planning.

Even the best of planning doesn't always mean that everything will go exactly as planned. Even if it doesn't, by the end of the day you will still be married and isn't that what the day is all about? Who knows if the little ring bearer will make it to the front of the church or if the flower girl will sprinkle all the rose petals? At this point, it doesn't matter. No matter what they do they will just add to the memories you will have later.

You have chosen the vendors you liked the best and who you feel will do the job the way you want it done. Now is the time to let them "do their thing". They are professionals and know what they are doing. Many of them work behind the scenes getting everything just right the way you told them you wanted it. Others, like the DJ and the photographer, are more visible and interact more with you and your guests. That's why you want someone who you are confortable with and whose style you like.

It's your special day. The ceremony is a dignified ceremony and should be treated as such. The reception is a party! Have fun!!

Engagement sessions should be fun and relaxed also. They are informal. They give the photographer an opportunity to get to know and work with the bridal couple and also give the couple an opportunity to work with and become comfortable with the photographer. This is extrememly important on your wedding day if you want your photos to look "natural". The biggest compliment you can give to me concerning my photography is when someone comes in and tells you "The photographer is here!" you say... "That's just Richard. He knows what he's doing." That tells me that we have been able to connect somewhere along the way and you are relaxed in the knowledge that you have chosen the right photographer.

A good photographer will be on the watch for things that make the couple uncomfortable. Not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera and I want to make you forget that I or the camera am even there. This is a session where you are interacting with each other as if you were the only people in the world. Nice poses together, candids of you just being yourselves, off the hip shots that just happen. This is a good engagement session and one you will remember for the rest of your lives!
