Hi Ladies,
I just came across an article online that says in 2005, 21% of home buyers were single women--that's up 16% since 1993! While you may not think much about it, back in the 1950's and 1960's women had a hard time getting a mortgage. Even if they were financially well off, there was always a concern on the part of the lender that the woman could get pregnant and not be able to work. Fortunately, things have changed. With the creation of new loan programs such as adjustable rates, 100% financing and the increase in do-it-yourself home shows, women are gaining confidence in their ability to own a home on their own. I have a friend right now who is pre-qualified and searching for her first home. She's a little nervous, but excited at the same time. Although you're on your way to becoming part of a married couple, if you are in a financial position to purchase a home now as a single woman, I recommend you do so. Your husband can always be added onto the title later and when you have a place of your own to go home to after the honeymoon, you'll be glad. If you're not sure if you're in a financial position to buy now, I would be happy to walk you through the pre-qualification process. There is no obligation and you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Please give me a call today if you would like my help. Have a great day!
