Seating your family and friends at your reception is not always easy. If assigned seating is the agenda, then follow these tips to keep your guests happy and entertained.
A. Seat the loud and dancing crowd next to the DJ speakers, chances are they will be dancing, or talking comfortably louder than the music being played
B. Seat the older and mellow crowd furthest away from the DJ
C. Group co-workers at the same table so they can talk about relative issues
D. Those singles, place with people they know
Take in considerations and accommodations for your guests. Try your best in making them happy with their seating arrangements. Remember, many of your guests will want to sit next to those they know.

Do you want to trim your catering budget?
Here are 5 surprises you may encounter with your caterer.
Surprise # 1
Taxes and gratuity add up ヨ read carefully the terms in your contract. The finest print may say plus plus which means tax plus 20 percent gratuity is included.
Surprise # 2
Supplying and bringing in your own liquor and wine isnt really a saver. Caterers charge corkage fees (can be a few dollars a bottle) to serve the alcohol you provided.
Surprise #3
If an outside cake is brought in - your caterer may have a cake cutting fee.
Surprise # 4
The larger the party, the more leverage you have in getting a per-person discount.
Surprise # 5
A cocktail party served with hors doeuvres will be more expensive than a seated dinner. Caterers have to overestimate hors doeuvres in order to have plenty available since they are less filling.
Do your numbers before you select and decide on a style of service! Make sure to ask for hidden fees. Avoid any surprises that you can, ask questions.
We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding daydreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at Jonelle@luminaphotography.com.

Your wedding photographer is the second most important selection you will make for your wedding day!
The BIGGEST mistake is hiring Uncle Frank to capture your wedding photos. Sure he is low cost, and would love to do them, but the truth is, you will not be happy with them. Always hire a professional licensed photographer. You will save yourself a lot of stress and free of disappointment.
Frankly, all of us (wedding photographers) can show you beautiful prints on the wall and beautiful wedding albums. It may have taken some photographers five years to collect a dozen beautiful prints, but ALL of us can show them to you.
What you are paying for more than anything is the CONFIDENCE that you will get a beautiful set of photos: photos of the people, details, events and emotions that make up YOUR wedding day.
How do you get this?
When you are sitting down with the photographer, ask them to show you COMPLETE sets of the photos from the last two weddings that they have covered. This will show you if the photographer will capture all the important elements at EVERY wedding they shoot.
We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding daydreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at Weddings@luminaphotography.com.

These 3 ideas will not only accent your tabletops, but allure your guests by personalization.
1. Stick bold numeric #s on the outside of a unique style - shape of a glass (Your choice) then stuff the glass with linen or silk material of your wedding colors. You may ask your cater if they have such material for you to use. If not, you will have to supply your own accents.
Try the dollar store for these purchases. The Dollar Store contains stickers, glasses, and fabric material, all what you need!
2. You will be the one to make your guest say Wow by making a statement by personalizing your napkin rings, and why not make it your table gift too!
Napkin rings can be found in any home department store, and come in many different styles. You can find metal/glass etching supplies at any craft store
3. Caterers can continue to add allure to your guests by the fold of a napkin. You may want to ask to see their styles. Some caterers can fold napkins into roses and other such sculptures. Also, make sure to check out their colors to match your wedding colors.
Enjoy these 3 tabletop accent ideas. Keep going other than the centerpieces! You will win the creativity of personalizing your tables.

Like the man you are marrying; its important to love your ring. Remember that man is also your best friend you can tell him anything. Now there are ways to approach this situation.
If you love the diamond and its absolutely gorgeous to you, but not the setting simply tell him after wearing it a few days/weeks its not your style after all. If you dont like the entire ring all together start off by telling him how special his proposal was and how it was sweet of him to find a ring on his own, but say its not what you visualized wearing long term.
He may be a little hurt and disappointed, but he would love your honesty and want you to be happy.

It is vital to your day for it to be your style. Marriage is about combining your life with another so your wedding should represent both of you. I believe it is important for you to choose colors that you enjoy but also colors that compliment your tones. Adding a hint of color to your dress personalizes it, weather it be a slip underneath or a ribbon down the back.
Stay away from the big trends of today. Weve all seen Aunt Sallys pictures with the Mullets and shoulder pads on the wedding party. Keep it classic when it comes to wedding style so you can enjoy your pictures every time you look at them. Its always best to look like yourself. For your hair and makeup try to play up your best features but keep it a style that fits you. As for that rhinestone tiara, consider a rhinestone band or try incorporating rhinestone strands into your bouquets instead.
Having a theme for your wedding can be a great way to plan on a track. It can be based on the venue, a place you love, or a general theme, anything you want. Be cautious not to go overboard though. Favors and a hint of d←cor can be all you need. This can give the day its own style.

Going Green is definitely in right now. You can do a search online and find almost everything you need to help plan your dream wedding while helping our planet. Having an outdoor ceremony will save on electricity. Having a ceremony at one of Washingtons colorful gardens is a great way to have beautiful d←cor with out having decorations to throw away in the end. Using recycled paper for invitations and thank you notes is always a good way to preserve trees and now you can get any look you want. In the Pacific Northwest it is easy to find organic, all natural, and vegetarian caterers. There are even jewelers that use recycled metals. The designs can be earthy creations on your wedding bands.

Youve just got engaged after waiting and waiting for him to ask you, and now full of excitement - you rush into your planning without even thinking about the 4 most important tips.
1. Dont Rush! Control your excitement, and enjoy being newly engaged. The two of you need to think about the logistics of planning your wedding day. We advise to hold off on planning for at least 2 weeks then plan.
2. The Big Picture Envision the kind of wedding outdoor/indoor, destination, or the season once selected, your colors, d←cor, flowers, and food will all fall into place.
3. Create your Wants and Needs List. The needs list should consist of having a venue and things like a good photographer. The want lists are items that you want personalized - like your centerpieces and napkins.
4. Budget! Knowing your allowance per service is very important. Sit down together and work out how much you have to spend and where you want to spend it. Couples tend to make poor choices - falling in love with a favorite location and not being able to afford other wedding necessities can imperfect your day.
Our best advice is to follow these 4 tips. Remember not to spend, put down deposits, or select venues until youve done your homework. Be true to your budget!
At Lumina, we are also great wedding planners, and have helped couples find and plan their wedding day according to their budget.

Of course you want to look your best on your wedding day! From the early steps of planning your wedding to the confirming of florists, DJs, and caterers, dont forget about your beauty countdown.
Its easy to forget about our personal beauty, as the wedding is near.
Remember these tips for your glowing appearance.
" Exercise months and weeks before your wedding. By exercising, your body will battle stress and improve your overall appearance. Walking, meditation, and yoga are grand stress-busters days before your wedding.
" Get a manicure and pedicure 2 weeks before the big day. Meanwhile, this luxury will help you stay calm and relaxed. The day before head back to the spa for another manicure and pedicure. The second time back at the spa will result in perfect condition hands and feet.
" Soak, soak, soak. Treat yourself to multiple baths; they help with both conditioning your skin and easing the mind. Exfoliation and masking will add additional glow to your face.
" Eat Right! Foods can promote healthy skin. Sorry, avoid the coffee and sweets! Salmon, whole grains, almonds, and certain vegetables are the best and safest pre-wedding foods to eat.

As a bride this is one area of your wedding you shouldnt stress about. Traditionally the grooms parents host this event, now days it can be anyone even the newlyweds themselves. It can also be anything from a five coarse meal to pizza and beer.
Why should you have one?
1) It can be a nice time for the two families to spend time together before the big day.
2) It is also a good time to give the thank you gifts, grooms men gifts and bridesmaid gifts.
3) It helps relax everyone; its good to have at least one run through before the big day.
Make sure that what ever you decide you and your husband to be enjoy the atmosphere.
Keeping it non-formal can relax family and friends. Having it two nights before the wedding will help relax the whole evening. Giving the night a theme can turn it into a fun event.

Figuring out wedding transportation what kind of limo to get, how many people, route, and expense can be puzzle to figure out. Before you book your transportation read these tips.
1. Start off by doing a head count. How many people do you want to transport?
2. Decide if you want transportation for the entire day/event. It is cheaper for pickup/drop off services your driver will not be waiting. Although some services may require a 4 hour minimum that could cost the same as 20 minutes.
3. Make sure to shop around for pricing and watch for hidden fees. Inspect all their vehicles for conditions you expect to have on your wedding day.
4. Get phone numbers, especially your drivers. Always confirm directions and locations with your driver, and give them copies.
5. Under any circumstance, have a back up plan! Weddings are never perfect as planned.
Youll want to call and confirm the details with the transportation company the day before the wedding. Write that down in your wedding book of when to call. Enjoy your limo of choice!

Congratulations! Youre now engaged. Take a deep breath and ask yourselves these 5 questions of when to wed.
1. Do we want to get married when the weather is warm or cold?
2. Are there any conflicts - expectancies that might interfere with our wedding date?
3. Would we rather have our wedding indoors or outdoors?
4. Should we marry on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?
5. Can we afford to have our wedding during season or could we settle for off-season at a discount rate?
By answering and thinking about these 5 questions hopefully choosing and setting a wedding date will be less difficult. Once you have your ideal vision of your day then start selecting your venues accordingly.

Choosing wines for your wedding reception can be an overwhelming decision. You will want to choose a red and a white wine. Before you select your favorite wine, think about what wines your guest will fully appreciate and enjoy with their buffet or sit-down dinner. Desert wines are always optional. Food and wine are hand in hand.
*Popular Whites
Chardonnay Always a guest pleaser. A stylish lightly fruit grape wine thats smooth and pairs well with seafood, rich creamy pasta and chicken dishes.
Sauvignon Blanc Very distinctive wine. Crisp and intense, best with pasta and cheese. Great for cocktail hour!
Reisling Elegant wine. Fabulous and full of rich fruit, try it with fish, shrimp, cold meat dishes, and desert.
*Popular Reds
Merlot The most seductive wine. Carries a natural sweetness that pairs well with almost all foods. Meat, chicken, and sauce pastas.
Cabernet Sauvigon Selective wine. Can be hard to please. Known for the king of red grapes. Its deep blackcurrant taste and color pairs ultimately with flavor dishes.
Pinot Noir Very well loved. This elegant wine pairs well with game dishes, duck, and fish dishes.
Take a little Wine 101 to find those two perfect wines to please your guest! Washington State has several wineries that offer wine tastings. Take your bridesmaids with you and make a wine tasting day full of fun!

You no longer have to be a celebrity to have a prenup. They no longer are for the rich. Prenup agreements mainstreamed because people have prospects. The statistics on divorce rates indicates a Good reason to consider a mutual agreement early before marriage. The controversy of signing a prenuptial agreement is and should be a topic you talk about before you marry not after.
Couples do not like to discuss this topic because its unromantic, not optimistic, and most feel hurt. Common thoughts of such, and the feeling of a doomed marriage is also a touchy subject. Most think its anticipating a marriage when it should be on the promise of a marriage.
If something goes wrong in a marriage, than the early smart planning means one less headache to fight about. Prenups are meant to protect family, children, and assets. The experience of negotiating can be awful while planning an ending of a marriage that hasnt even started. It also can be a positive experience. You really get to know each other, while building a solid honest ground of your marriage. Being prepared will only benefit you.

Seating your family and friends at your reception is not always easy. If assigned seating is the agenda, then follow these tips to keep your guests happy and entertained.
ᄋ Seat the loud and dancing crowd next to the DJ speakers chances are they will be dancing, or talking comfortably louder than the music being played
ᄋ Seat the older and mellow crowd furthest away from the DJ
ᄋ Group co-workers at the same table so they can talk about relative issues
ᄋ Those singles, place with people they know
Take in considerations and accommodations for your guests. Try your best in making them happy with their seating arrangements. Remember, many of your guests will want to sit next to those they know.

Your wedding photographer is the second most important selection you will make for your wedding day!
Frankly, all of us (wedding photographers) can show you beautiful prints on the wall and beautiful wedding albums. It may have taken some photographers five years to collect a dozen beautiful prints, but ALL of us can show them to you.
What you are paying for more than anything is the CONFIDENCE that you will get a beautiful set of photos photos of the people, details, events and emotions that make up YOUR wedding day.
How do you get the confidence?
When you are sitting down with the photographer, ask them to show you COMPLETE sets of the photos from the last two weddings that they have covered. This will show you if the photographer will capture all the important elements at EVERY wedding they shoot.
We would love to talk with you. Please call us at: (425) 355-1415 and tell us about your wedding daydreams and how we can help you fulfill them. You could also email me at colleen@luminaphotography.com.

There is nothing more beautiful and noticeable than a brides left hand holding onto her bouquet. A glance at her ring, bouquet, and nails is timeless and truly a stunning sight.
To get this classic look -- first step is to choose your wedding colors and then select the colors for your bouquet.
Burgundy and deep red bouquets show a strong statement. Red nail polishes should be worn if planning on having shorter nails. If you like your nails longer wear a sheer pink, cream, or champagne color. Either color will intensify the burgundy and reds in your bouquet.
Mixed pastels wear any pastel color to pick up on a desired color in your bouquet. Keep in mind that lighter nail colors look great with tan skin. If your skin tone is fair, then aim towards a lighter pink or a French manicure. Iridescent colors look amazing with pastel colors too.
Yellow and Orange bouquets are sophisticated and have grown into the modern flair. Nude colors may seem unflattering in a bottle, but your hand on your bouquet will look stunning. If nude is completely not the color for you, choose a sheer nail color. Rings that have a yellow tint look absolutely fabulous when combined with this combination.
The all white bouquet delicate and pretty. When nail color is sheer ivory, pink, or French manicure, and with the diamond ring this combination will result in pure glamour.
Your nail color can be a necessary to your flowers and your ring. All of these colors combined express a brides own style.

Before you select your wedding photographer and videographer review the awarding advantages of selecting same company services.
Here are three reasons why you should choose your wedding photographer and videographer from the same company.
1) Both photographer and videographer work together as a team they coordinate what they are accountable for so both get the photos and video you want. You will not see them fighting for the same shot.
2) By working together, the photographer can easily share digital images with the videographer - this allows your photography (Still photos) to be incorporated into your wedding video. Makes an excellent presentation for all who view.
3) You will find a one-stop service convenience using the same company. It is less complicating and easier to coordinate two very important elements of your wedding.

Like the man you are marrying, itメs important to love your ring. Remember that man is also your best friend ヨ you can tell him anything. Now there are ways to approach this situation.
If you love the diamond and itメs absolutely gorgeous to you, but not the setting ヨ simply tell him after wearing it a few days/weeks itメs not your style after all. If you donメt like the entire ring all together ヨ start off by telling him how special his proposal was and how it was sweet of him to find a ring on his own, but say its not what you visualized wearing long term.
He may be a little hurt and disappointed, but he would love your honesty and want you to be happy.

Long engagements are becoming more popular and are not unusual. Many couples like to finish college or have time to save for the big day. Your wedding day will arrive quicker than you think. It is smart to start your planning early.
Forget about mailing save-the-date cards now unless you are planning a destination wedding. Inform guests and friends to expect an invitation in a year.
Before you start your planning 2 years in advance, the first step to accomplish is determining your budget. Will your parents contribute?
Secondly, research the costs of photographers, florists, DJメs, and reception sites.
Third, save, save, save! Two years in advance should nearly pay for your dream wedding. It is smart to place your wedding savings into a money-market account until you absolutely have to take it out to pay for vendors ヨ let your wedding savings earn more money for you!
Fourth, the more time you have to plan - the greater chance you have at reserving your ultimate selection. Choose your site now!
We would love to talk with you. We are great wedding planners here at Lumina! Also, book your photographyr early ヨ that way you can get the 2007 price!

There are a few simple requirements and things to consider when choosing your bridesmaids.
First thing is first, take care and reserve all of your venues.
ᄋ Donメt worry about an uneven number in your wedding party ヨ if you have 6 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids, thatメs okay (Remember itメs you wedding)
ᄋ Consider your friendメs personality. Ask yourself if they will participate in all functions.
ᄋ Can they afford the expense of purchasing a dress?
ᄋ If you have been in a friendメs wedding, doesnメt mean she has to me in yours.
ᄋ Is she expecting a baby or just had one ヨ consider her ability to participate.
Most importantly, take your time, and consider your bridesmaids with thought.

You no longer have to be a celebrity to have a prenup. They no longer are for the rich. Prenup agreements mainstreamed because people have prospects. The statistics on divorce rates indicates a モGood reasonヤ to consider a mutual agreement early before marriage. The controversy of signing a prenuptial agreement is and should be a topic you talk about before you marry ヨ not after.
Couples do not like to discuss this topic because itメs unromantic, not optimistic, and most feel hurt. Common thoughts of such, and the feeling of a doomed marriage is also a touchy subject. Most think itメs anticipating a marriage when it should be on the promise of a marriage.
If something goes wrong in a marriage, than the early smart planning means one less headache to fight about. Prenups are meant to protect family, children, and assets. The experience of negotiating can be awful while planning an ending of a marriage that hasnメt even started. It also can be a positive experience. You really get to know each other, while building a solid honest ground of your marriage. Being prepared will only benefit you.

Do you want to trim your catering budget?
Here are 5 surprises you may encounter with your caterer.
Surprise # 1
Taxes and gratuity add up ヨ read carefully the terms in your contract. The finest print may say モplus plusヤ which means tax plus 20 percent gratuity is included.
Surpise # 2
Suppling and bringing in your own liquor and wine isnメt really a saver. Caterers charge corkage fees (can be a few dollars a bottle) to serve the alcohol you provided.
Surprise #3
If an モoutsideヤ cake is brought in - your caterer may have a cake cutting fee.
Surprise # 4
The larger the party, the more leverage you have in getting a per-person discount.
Surprise # 5
A cocktail party served with hors dメoeuvres will be more expensive than a seated dinner. Caterers have to overestimate hors dメoeuvres in order to have plenty available since they are less filling.
Do your numbers before you select and decide on a style of service! Make sure to ask for hidden fees. Avoid any surprises that you can ヨ ask questions.

The most important process of planning your wedding is establishing a budget. Take time to plan your wedding budget, and then prioritize which elements of your wedding are most important to you. For instance, you may want to spend more on your photographer than your flowers.
Secondly, how are you funding your wedding? Combine your financial resources to determine your budget. It is a high possibility that you budget may change as you research venues.
Budget for:
* Reception ヨ including rentals, catering, car, cake, facility, tax
* Ceremony ヨ Facility rental, marriage license, officiant, decorations, rentals
* Photographer ヨ Wedding package, prints, albums, engagement portraits
* Videographer ヨ Video package fee, DVD copies
* Flowers ヨ Brideメs bouquet, site flowers ceremony/reception, boutonnieres/corsages
* Entertainment ヨ Ceremony and reception
* Stationery ヨ Invitations, wedding programs, announcements, postage, thank you cards
* Health & Beauty ヨ Hair, makeup, spa
* Brideメs apparel ヨ Dress, veil, shoes, lingerie/hosiery, jewelry, alterations
* Groomメs apparel ヨ Tux, shoes, cufflinks
* Transportation ヨ Limousine service, guest transportation

After your wedding and honeymoon you may experience the honeymoon hangover. The honeymoon hangover can be avoided, and the flame can still burn once you learn how to keep the fire going. The saying モHoneymoon is overヤ does not mean your doomed for unhappiness, the excitement and spark can still exist between the two of you!
Tips to avoid the honeymoon hangover
* Call him/her at work just to say hello, ask モAre you are free tonight?ヤ
* During winter months, warm her/his car up
* Surprise her with flowers
* Mail a card to her/him
* Plan another romantic getaway shortly after your honeymoon. It can be 2 years out, this will keep the both of you looking forward to doing something together again.

* Flowers ヨ Brideメs bouquet, site flowers ceremony/reception, boutonnieres/corsages
* Entertainment ヨ Ceremony and reception
* Stationery ヨ Invitations, wedding programs, announcements, postage, thank you cards
* Health & Beauty ヨ Hair, makeup, spa
* Brideメs apparel ヨ Dress, veil, shoes, lingerie/hosiery, jewelry, alterations
* Groomメs apparel ヨ Tux, shoes, cufflinks
* Transportation ヨ Limousine service, guest transportation

Fruit has made it to the table this year!
Fruit centerpieces are over taking flower arrangements. We no longer are seeing the expected. Stunning vases filled with water ヨ accented by lemons, blueberries, and green apples have made spectacular displays.
You can even match the fruit centerpieces with the season of your wedding. Think of the colors fruits have to offer, and can easily match youメre wedding colors too.
If youメre looking for a モwowヤ factor ヨ flaunt your tables with a fruit display. Check out your local fruit market for ideas!
