The Secret to Selecting the RIGHT Wedding Photographer

Your wedding photographer is the second most important selection you will make for your wedding day! Select the right one and he/she will add to the enjoyment of your day. Select the wrong photographer and they may become the major worry or trauma of your wedding day.

Frankly, all of us (wedding photographers) can show you beautiful prints on the wall and beautiful wedding albums. It may have taken some photographers 5 years to collect a dozen beautiful prints, but ALL of us can show them to you. In reality, you don’t care if I did a wonderful job for Julie’s wedding or delivered a beautiful album to Krystal or Karen and her mom really LOVES us. What you care about is -- what kind of a set of photos am I going to deliver to YOU.

What you are paying for more than anything is the CONFIDENCE that you will get a beautiful set of photos – photos of the people, details, events and emotions that make up YOUR wedding day.

How do you make SURE that the photographer who you are hiring will give you that kind of confidence?

First, be sure that you can really communicate with the photographer. Be sure that he/she understands you and what you want your photos to be. Be sure that you completely understand him/her and what they are promising to deliver to you. Two-way communication is vital.

Most importantly, there is only one way to truly qualify your photographer. Here is the secret (by the way, the other photographers hate for me to tell you this):

When you are sitting down with the photographer, ask them to show you COMPLETE sets of the photos from the last two weddings that they have covered (most can’t or won’t be able to do this). This will show you if the photographer will capture all the important elements at EVERY wedding they shoot.

You don’t want the photographer who captures a great wedding once every three times or twice every three times. You want to have the confidence that THIS photographer will capture a great set of photos EVERY wedding. This is what will give you the confidence to relax on your wedding day – to know that you will have a great set of wedding photos. You are paying for that ability to relax and enjoy your day!
