What is proper etiquette in regards to a receiving line?

I have brides ask me all the time; do I really need to have a receiving line?
Proper etiquette states that if you can take the time to visit every table at your reception then there is no need to have a receiving line.

You should have no problem greeting 150 guests or less!

If you do decide on a receiving line though. A good way to keep a steady flow in your line is to have only the Mother's stand with you.

Mom's are usually the ones doing the inviting so they will know everyone and besides Dad's don't usually care about this sort of stuff! They'll take the time to talk to whom they want throughout the night.

If hurt feelings are a concern then you may also have your MOH stand in the line but that's it. Other wise you'll end up spending 1/2 your night just trying to get through this event.

By the way, a good set-up would be as follows: Bride's mom, Groom's mom, Bride then Groom

Make-up Tip for all you summer brides

Hi everyone ~ in case you haven't heard or you don't normally wear a lot of make-up I wanted to share with you.

Weather your skin is near flawless or not, you will most likely want to wear a foundation and or powder for pictures. Be sure your product is mineral based and you will be amazed not only how long the make-up will stay put but how amazingly flawless your skin will appear.

I'm sure there are many good lines on the market but I do know first hand that "Youngblood" works wonders, even in the heat.

Take care and have a great day!

Beat the heat on your wedding day.................

Here in Seattle were not always prepared to with stand 90 degree weather, especially on our wedding day. However we are prepared to beat any amount of rain! Have you ever considered using the all so famous umbrella on a sweltering day? Their not only great for the rain but just as useful to block the sun!

I found this great website the other day that features many beautiful and decorative umbrella's; you must check it out if you're getting married outside this summer.

Why would I need a Wedding Consultant?

To determine if you could benefit from the services of a professional wedding consultant/planner, sit down with your groom and your parents and ask your selves the following questions

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the planning that goes into a wedding?
Do you feel as if you've just taken on a second job?
Maybe your in need of some help budgeting or perhaps finding that perfect vendor?
Wondering what to look for in each vendor's contract?
Worried you or your parents will be to busy to remember your special day?
Will you have time for the creative, fun things you want to do that will make your wedding truly memorable?
Worried your wedding party won’t remember when to walk down the aisle, where to stand, etc. Or perhaps the photographer might forget to take that one special photo you’ve been dreaming about for months?

Your wedding will be one of the most memorable moments of your life. However, without proper planning and organization, a wedding can quickly become one of the most expensive and stressful events a couple will ever face. Much of the stress will come from the actual preparation process: setting a budget; choosing vendors; creating the guest list; balancing opinions of family and friends as to what makes a "perfect" wedding; and on-site co-ordination of the ceremony and reception. Too often, the bride, groom or a family member ends up "working" at the wedding because no one is "in charge" of all the arrangements.

Think about it, a wedding consultant just might end up being one of the most valuable vendors you hire.

Merry Christmas!
