If your budget cannot stretch to include an extravagant honeymoon, a few ideas to help keep the costs more reasonable:
Stay in the continental United States. Consider taking a road trip to nearby tourist locations.
Stay at a national park. Camping and hiking can be a relaxing honeymoon after all the craziness of the wedding planning. If camping isn't your thing, many national parks have beautiful lodges to stay in for reasonable prices.
Register for your honeymoon. Guests can contribute to your honeymoon fund as your wedding gift.
Plan your honeymoon in the off-season.
Ask if the company offers any special rates you may qualify for such as student, military, or corporate discounts.
When you first start planning your wedding include the honeymoon in your budget. This way you'll know exactly how much you have set aside for the honeymoon. If you have any money left over in any other areas of the budget you can include them in your honeymoon savings.
Wherever you go and whatever you spend, enjoy your time together as husband and wife.
