Obtaining a marriage license for the first time can be intimidating if you don't know what to expect. These pointers on how to make it legal should make the experience as easy as saying, "I do".

Marriage license requirements vary so contact the county clerk in the county you'll be getting married in to find out what is required in that area.
A license may only be used for a certain amount of time so verify how long your local marriage license is valid, it could be anywhere from 30 to 90 days.
When applying for your license, typically both parties must be present with identification.
Some counties require a blood test.
The marriage license should cost anywhere from $25 to $100 so come prepared.
Verify how many witnesses you'll need to sign the document.
