When you're a wedding guest, deciding on the proper attire for the event is easy when you take clues from the invitation. Generally, if the invite is formal the attire should also be formal. Some brides and grooms make it easy on their guests by stating that the event is casual or black tie. For those invites that aren't as specific, a few guidelines:
If the location is outdoors, dress is casual. For a woman, a skirt and blouse or floral dress is appropriate. For a man, a linen suit in a light color for a spring or summer wedding. Or, if the weather is colder, a man may wear dark dress pants, matching sweater, tie, and blazer.
If the occasion is indoors with a sit down reception, a woman should wear a formal dress. A man should wear a three-piece suit.
For a black-tie evening indoor wedding, the dress is formal. A man should be in a tuxedo and a woman should wear a ball gown.
Choosing what to wear to a wedding should be easy for the guest. The invitation should be straightforward. You won't want your guests to feel uncomfortable by being under- or over- dressed.
As you plan your invitations, if you would like a photo to accompany your invitation - we'll be happy to provide just what you need. We like to do a pre-wedding engagement photo session which includes a large, matted and framed print. These digital images are yours FREE if you schedule your wedding coverage with us.
Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.
