The Food will be Remembered!!!

Looking back, I started to think about all the weddings I have been to. What stood out? The bride's gown, the couple's first dance, and of course the food. The food is definitely something that you will remember, whether it is great, or not your favorite.

Here are some tips on choosing your caterer and the food you hope will leave your guests satisfied:

1)Always do a tasting before hand. This way you can know in advance if the food is what you hoped.

2)Ask your contact about the chef. How long have they been a chef? What dishes are their specialties? Does the chef have any suggestions on what might go well with the meal that you choose.

3)When having a plated dish, try to give your guests a choice between two options. You can ask for their choice when sending the invitations.

4)Most buffet's have a large variety, but make sure that there are items for everytype of eater. You might have a few vegetarians, vegans, etc.

5)Once you have chosen your caterer, enjoy the food. You deserve it after all the planning.

What are you thankful for?

It is a tradition that has been around for ages. Your loved ones go around the dining room table on Thanksgiving and say what they are thankful for. In my family, this tradition only started in 2001, so that my sister and her husband could announce that they were going to have a baby. Oddly enough, we did not do this tradition again until last year so that they could announce that they were having another baby.

Now even though it is not a yearly tradition in my family, I started thinking about what brides might be thankful for this year. Are you thankful that you have found the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with? Are you thankful because you have found the wedding dress of your dreams? Maybe you are thankful that you get to feast on turkey and stuffing. Could it possibly be that you are happy to have a day away from all the planning?

Well whatever it is, enjoy the holiday with loved ones and when you are ready to get back to the planning, we would love to set up an appointment for you to see our facility.

The Perfect Wedding Does Not Exist!!!

Now that we have that realization out of the way, let's go over some tips to help it be as close to perfect as possible.

Always meet your wedding vendors in person. That way you can get a feel for their personality. They in turn, can learn more about you and your ideas about the wedding. The smallest expression can say so much about someone. I am a firm believer in first impressions.

Don't settle for anything that you do not love. Whether it be the location, cake, flowers, or music, you are entitled to have it your way.

Most importantly, remember that not everything can go as planned. Something will go wrong. At my sister's wedding, the pictures after the ceremony took so long that by the time the bride and groom were done, the buffet had been put away. We were frantic that they would be hungry, but the caterer had made take out boxes for them to enjoy while their guests danced the night away. My best friends wedding had a glitch with the unity candle. The decoration on the outside caught on fire. Luckily, her sister was there to put it out before it became serious. The point is, with professional vendors and supportive family and friends, the biggest or smallest problem can be taken care of with little stress.

Reception Venue Questions Answered

In my last posting I listed a couple of questions that you will definitely want to ask when picking a reception venue. Here are a couple of answers for the Embassy Suites in South Seattle.

1)Can we bring our own decorations?
Definitely. I will be here to help if any last minute decorations need to be taken care of. Our banquest staff will be happy to make sure the room is exactly as you pictured.

2)Can we bring our own food? (Most places do not allow this)
We do, but with certain stipulations. First and foremost, the outside catering must be done by a certified caterer. (Call for other stipulations). We do allow a cake to be brought in and have some great bakeries that we can recommend.

3)What kind of wedding packages do you offer?
We have many to choose from. From the lighter menu of the Ruby Package to the heavier meal of the Sapphire Package we can guarantee that your guests will go away satisfied. We can also do custom packages to the bride and groom's liking.

4)Will I have one person to go to with questions before and during the reception?
YES. I will be here before the event until well into it to make sure that all questions are answered and to relieve any stress that the bride and groom may have.

5)Will there be any extra charges for such things as a cake cutter, dance floor, carver for a buffet?
There are additional charges for these services. I will let you know when going over the packages so there are no surprises.

Call for an appointment today.

What do you look for in a wedding reception location?

When looking for a place to hold your wedding reception, what should you look for? There are a few key items that will make or break any reception.

1)Friendly staff that makes your day priority #1. They should be there to answer any questions and to keep the event going as smoothly as possible.

2)Banquet rooms that are decorated to your liking and are also large or small enough to accommodate all your loved ones. You do not want them to be cramped, but you also do not want a room so large that you have to walk what seems like a mile in those high heels and dress shoes to talk with everyone.

3)A large variety of menus to choose from. Plus delicious food that you will talk about for days.

4)Finally, competitive prices that fit within your budget!!!

What questions should you ask when trying to find the perfect location?

1)Can we bring our own decorations?
2)Can we bring our own food? (Most places do not allow this)
3)What kind of wedding packages do you offer?
4)Will I have one person to go to with questions before and during the reception?
5)Will there be any extra charges for such things as a cake cutter, dance floor, carver for a buffet?

There are probably a million of other questions, but these will get you started on planning your big day and making the most of the location that you have chosen.

Please call so set up your appointment today.
