Tanning bed vs a spray on tan, what's your opinion?

I planned on buying a month tanning pass the month before our wedding. I recently heard that the spray on tans are better than they used to be. I'm wondering has anyone used them and what do you think

Spray Tanning looks very beautiful. If the person who does it, does it right. I have been in the beauty industry for 10 years now. I have also been a wedding planner for 2 years. I do alot of hair, makeup and spray tanning for weddings all the time. It is very safe for you skin, and doesnt have the harmful UV rays, that you would get from a tanning bed. I think the tan from a spray tan looks alot more natural. Spray tans are good for people, who do not have time to tan in a tanning bed, or people who just do not like the idea of using a tanning bed. spray tans can look absolutely beautiful, but it can come off on your dress, it can start flaking off your feet immediately and you don't want that in your pictures, and depending on your skins chemical making...it can really smell!!! even after you take a shower!!

I would opt for spray tan. I know one month doesn't seem long but the damage to your skin...yikes. plus spray tans are really high quality if you find the right place. A friend of mine actually gets a message with sunless tanner. I think that might be a good way to relax and get a professional even tan. And since a professional is applying to lotion the chances of it looking uneven are unlikely. I would also get it done as a test run a few weeks before the wedding , that way there are no surprises.
Hope that is helpful!

I work at a day spa and Airbrush tanning is the way to go in my opinion. It has come a LONG way. No more orange tint!!! right after you look alot darker than you will after you take a shower but after that its beautiful bronze color. Just make sure the person who does it has experience with it and do a test run a month or 2 before.

If you decide on the tanning booth route i would recommend using a super high pressure bed. They have special filters to filter out the bad UV rays and they pretty much guarantee you wont get burned and you can get a nice dark tan in only 3 sessions.
As for spray tans, You run the risk of having it "come off" on your dress and it can smell.
Good luck and congrats.

Spray tans have come a long way since they first came out in the 80's. I got airbrushed 2 days before my wedding. It took about 10 minutes and looked great. I had a lady spray me by hand (no machines like on "Friends") so I had even coloring and she was able to better control the amount of color I wanted. And if worse comes to worse and you hate it, just take a shower. You can't get wet the first 2 hours after being sprayed, if you do it washes off. You can't do that if you over bake in a tanning bed.

I will have to agree. For my high school prom I used a spray on tan and in went really blotchy. Not only that but we danced that night and the sweat from the dancing made my "tan" come off onto my beautiful white prom dress. I would suggest a Professional Spray on tan. Usually it someone in a salon who will spray you from head to toe and make sure that you are not blotchy nor that your tan runs. It can be pretty spendy about 20-40$ depending how much you want done and how dark you want to go but this is by far the best way to go. Then you don't have to worry about being burned either. Hope this helps out:)

Hi There,

I have personally over the years used both of the above ideas and have always found you come out better with a tanning bed that way you are not orange as so many self tanner's can leave you (As my now X hubbie found out on vacation the hard way)

Hope yuou have a wonderful wedding day and that this helps you decide.
