How many meal options should we have at the reception?

We have a few close family members that are vegetarian. My fiance and I are not, and we are wondering if we need to provide an alternative meal for the reception that is vegetarian friendly?

It's always nice and cosiderate to have food that everyone can eat or enough selections, diabetes, gluten intolerance, faith, all are factors in planning your wedding meal.

Stacy is right on about a buffet style wedding reception. For plated, typically you can choose 2 regular options and then a vegetarian option for anyone who would like that. As stacy said, most caterers will work with your needs to make the day a success.

If you're having a buffet, you don't need to necessarily provide an alternative in the buffet line because then you would have to pay for an item that would feed your entire guest list. But definitely talk with your caterer as they usually never have a problem accommodating the needs of vegetarians. Typically your guest with special request will go through the buffet line to get their salads, bread, etc then their main dish will be hand delivered to their table.
Hope that helps you out!
