We don't want a large wedding because his or my family will have to travel.

Depending on the season, it's a good idea to put out cozy throws on benches/chairs in case guests get chilled. It adds atmosphere and a thoughtful touch. Also, flowers that are overpowering in daylight, are milder in the after sunset and add a dreamy quality when carried on an evening breeze. Examples are fressia, jasmine & gardenia.

Candles, lots and lots of votive and tea lights at different levels ( try not to go crazy with too many scent combinations ) vanilla or light citrus is always nice. Even during the evening hours, lighting will set your mood.
