It's not necessary that he match anyone, at all. Classic black tie w/ tux (and vest, if you choose) would look terrific! Or, if he's not part of the wedding party, a quality suit & tie is a great choice.

I think having him stand out a little more from the Groomsmen would be a great idea - but just make sure that the two options that you are going with won't end up clashing....You two will compliment each other no matter what! After all he is your son! Best wishes!
