Do I need save the date cards?

While shopping for wedding invitations we saw "save the date" cards. If I use them, how soon do I send these out before my invitations?

Save the Date Magnets are a fun alternative to a card... we had one custom made for us at www.freshimpressions.us

Absolutely not! If you have the money or want to inform people that your special event is coming up then go ahead. If you want to do without S-T-D cards then save your money. Invitations should be received by your guests long enough in advance that they will have time to prepare or make arrangements to come celebrate your day with the two of you.

Save-the-Date cards are an excellent way to announce your engagement and wedding. If your wedding falls on a holiday weekend and/or you have a lot of out-of-town guest, Save-the-Date cards are a nice gesture to give your guest plenty of notice. I would send them out 6-12 months before your wedding.

Congratulations!

Save the Dates are a leading trend and quickly becoming a necessity! Not only are we busier than ever before, we're scattered all over the country and even the world. Sending out your Save the Dates 4-12 months ahead of time is a courtesy that will help to insure that the people you want most to be at your wedding- will be! What else? Save the Dates are practical! You can include your wedding website and any other pertinent info to keep guests informed. Save the Dates are also fun and besides, it just might be the first introduction of your fianc← to family and friends.

Have fun announcing your engagement and expressing your style!

Hello,
'Save the Date' cards are becoming increasingly popular. They are especially helpful if you have out-of-town guests, if your wedding date is centered around a holiday, or if you are planning a destination wedding. In all of these cases, advance planning is essential and 'Save the Date' cards should be sent out 3-12 months in advance. Airfares and hotels raise their rates as dates become closer so the more notice you give your traveling guests, the better. Advance planning for your honeymoon is a good idea as well. This allows you to budget, take advantage of early booking rates, and if your dream honeymoon is to a destination that has a short 'season', like Bermuda, you'll want to reserve early to assure availability at your resort of choice.

Save the date cards are most often used for "destination" weddings as their guests need to make travel reservations and take time off of work to attend.

Depending on where your guests are coming from, they are usually sent 6-12 months prior to the wedding date (especially if passports are required).

Some mediums my clients that have used:

Postcards
Magnets
E-mail cards
Formal card that matches the "theme" of their wedding

Hello!

The save the date card announces you will be married!

Do you have a lot of out of town guests?

Is you wedding out of state or out of the country (a destination wedding) requiring your guests to make travel plans?

If you answered YES to the above questions, then YES you should send out save the dates about 4-12 months before your wedding.

Enjoy!
