What are some good ideas to keep your reception interesting?

I've been to a few weddings where the reception is SO boring! But I've also been to a few weddings where it's nothing but a good time at the reception.

On your website or RSVP card have a request a song area so people can ask for songs to be played (and you review before hand) so guests can feel more apart of your wedding and thus have more fun.

Looking for elemenets and items to add to your wedding to make it more intresting is a great way to keep your guests on their feet! I would highly recommend to personalize your wedding as much as possible... have your table numbers be names of your favorite places, places you've vacationed, favorite foods... have the card custom created with pictures of the vacation or so forth with a bried description. This will allow your guests to get to know the both of you much better.

Another way to keep the wedding interesting is to have the groomsmen and/or bridesmaids pull together to do an activity together. I have coordinated weddings where the groomsmen were all college pals and decided to have a "bonding" moment. The guests in the room could not help but laugh and it was a definite conversation piece.

A photo montage playing on a big screen is definitely a excellent idea idea. Here are some examples .

Additionally, if you have a theme, extend it in fun, creative ways at the reception. Also, you can have a wishing tree or some other unique way to involve your guests in writing down their well-wishes for you. And, specialty bars i.e. candy, drinks, etc. are always fun.
It'll be great! Have a wonderful time!

A few fun things: A photo slide show (set to music) of the two of you as you are growing up and then together.

A Dollar Dance: The tradition is fun, and also lets your guests have 'an excuse' to get up and boogie!

A Photo Area - Your photographer can set up a spot for your guests to get formal (and not so formal-formal) photos taken if you'd like to furnish them. Those can be lots of fun. They can even be printed during the reception and taken home!

Make sure to do all the wonderful traditions that make a wedding such an important and memorable day. Dance, laugh, toast, remember, appreciate and love each other.

Have a wonderful wedding and reception!

Cara
