At NJD photography I focus on a blend of photojournalism and creative art wedding photography and will capture the special candid moments of your wedding day.

We used the same photographer as we did for our engagement photos. We were so impressed by Niki Desautels' price, quality and thoroughness that she was an easy pick. Our engagement photos were great, she walked us around Pike Place market and was never fazed by my complete inability to pose or realize where the light was. She was patient and took incredible photos of us. When we were discussing which photographer to use for the wedding, she was the clear winner. During the wedding she was nearly omnipresent. Every time I thought to myself "this would make a great picture," she would already be there taking candid pictures of the scene. She took nearly 3,000 photos over the course of the wedding day, and patiently waded through them to pick out the best ones for our DVD and wedding album. We met Niki Desautels at a wedding show. She was different from all the other wedding photographers we'd met up to that point. We immediately liked that Niki seemed grounded, low key, and didn't make us feel awkward about being on a real budget.

Niki did our engagement photos and wedding photos. She tailored a wedding package to fit our budget and needs, and was fine with making last minute adjustments (when to arrive, adding an hour, etc).

Niki's background in photojournalism came in very handy at our wedding. At one point during the (Jewish) reception, the hora line had wound into a big coral, and Niki was in the middle. Before too long, the coral was so tightly wrapped around Niki that I saw people's dresses flying against her, but she was like a rock in the middle of a big happy storm - cool-headed, snapping away, capturing the sheer joy, making sure the moment remained about the wedding and not about her.

Niki set up a page on her website for our friends and family to see - the photos are really wonderful. Some weeks after the wedding, and as part of our package, she sent us a beautifully wrapped box (ribbon and all) containing our digital images. It's little touches like the ribbon on the DVD box that make me feel like Niki is really a cut above the rest.

We were so impressed with Niki's wedding day professionalism (as were our guests) that we mailed her a big tip the day after the wedding. But she wouldn't make you feel like you had to - she really does seem to understand about couples being on a budget.
